HP unveiled the OmniBook X and EliteBook Ultra on May 20, 2024, as its first next-generation AI PCs built around ARM architecture. Both use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite platform and a dedicated 45-TOPS NPU for on-device AI work; the OmniBook X targets tech-savvy freelancers, while the EliteBook Ultra is aimed at commercial professionals and leaders on the go. The practical differences are audience, security features, finish and launch price.
What are HP’s OmniBook X and EliteBook Ultra?
They are 14-inch Windows laptops announced together by HP in 2024. HP describes both as AI PCs, with local AI features, Poly Camera Pro conferencing enhancements and HP AI Companion. Their Snapdragon X Elite processors use ARM architecture, rather than the x86 platform common in many Windows laptops.
Both models include an NPU rated at 45 trillion operations per second (TOPS). HP says it is intended to support local language models and generative-AI workloads. TOPS describes processing capacity; it does not by itself establish how quickly a particular application will run or whether a workload can run locally.

What does the documented OmniBook X configuration include?
HP’s product sheet for the OmniBook X 14 model 14-fe0001ns (A80Q5EA) lists the following specifications. They describe that model and should not be assumed to apply to every OmniBook X configuration or region.
- Operating system and processor: Windows 11 Home and Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite X1E-78-100, with 12 cores and a listed maximum frequency of 3.4 GHz.
- Memory and storage: 32 GB LPDDR5x-8448 memory and a 1 TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD.
- Graphics: Integrated Qualcomm Adreno graphics.
- Display: 14-inch 2.2K IPS touchscreen, 2240 × 1400 resolution, rated at 400 nits and 100% sRGB.
- Weight and wireless: 1.34 kg, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
- Camera and ports: 5 MP IR camera, two USB-C ports and one USB-A port.

How long does the OmniBook X battery last?
For the listed 14-fe0001ns configuration, HP’s product sheet states “up to 26 hours and 15 minutes” of video playback. That is a vendor figure from an internal test, not a guarantee of everyday runtime. HP’s test footnote specifies playback, brightness, audio and wireless conditions; it also says actual battery life varies by configuration and decreases with use. The figure should therefore be read as a best-case result under HP’s stated test setup, rather than as a direct prediction for mixed work, video calls or maximum screen brightness.
