Which is better, HP NoteBook 4BA40EA or Dell Latitude 5580? The HP 4BA40EA identifies a particular HP Notebook 15-db0521na configuration, while the Latitude 5580 is a configurable business-laptop family. The HP datasheet specifies an AMD A6-9225, 4 GB RAM, a 1 TB hard drive and a Full HD screen; Dell offered several processor, display, memory and storage choices. There is no supported current price or comparable rating winner here, so compare the exact devices and their condition rather than the model names alone.

HP figures above come from its Notebook 15-db0521na product datasheet. Dell option details are from the Latitude 5280/5480/5580 specification sheet. The separate HP listing is Gadgets360’s 4BA40EA page.
Which one is better for your needs?
Choose the HP only if its exact configuration and condition fit
The HP datasheet describes a basic configuration with 4 GB of memory and a mechanical 1 TB drive. Those are the listed components, not evidence of how a used or refurbished example performs today. Confirm the device’s installed components, battery condition, operating system and screen before buying. The datasheet lists Windows 10 Home 64-bit, but that model-era specification is not a claim about current software support or the installed OS on a particular listing.
Consider a Latitude 5580 when you can verify the configuration
The Latitude family spans substantially different components. A unit with a quad-core H-series processor is not equivalent to one with a U-series dual-core chip; likewise, an HD panel and a Full HD panel are different buying propositions. Dell also documents optional smart-card, fingerprint and NFC features, and WD15 and TB16 docking options. These are not guaranteed on every 5580, so check the actual unit and compatibility before relying on them.

Check the display rather than relying on the model name
The HP datasheet identifies a 15.6-inch Full HD screen, but the Gadgets360 entry for 4BA40EA lists 1366 × 768. Its processor wording also calls the chip “APU Quad Core A6,” which conflicts with the HP datasheet’s AMD A6-9225 dual-core specification. Treat the datasheet as the named product’s specification and the conflict as a reason to verify the regional SKU and the actual device, not to assume every listing is accurate.
Dell’s specification sheet includes both HD and Full HD panels. Configuration-specific Notebookcheck reviews illustrate why the panel matters: its HD Latitude 5580 test unit had a 15.6-inch 1366 × 768 TN display, while its separate Full HD review unit had a 1920 × 1080 IPS display. Those reviews describe the tested devices, not every Latitude 5580.

Performance and features depend on the specific Latitude
The HP A6-9225 is dual-core per the product datasheet. Dell’s Latitude 5580 options include 7th-generation U-series dual-core processors as well as H-series quad-core processors. It is therefore not sound to say that every 5580 is faster than the HP without identifying the Dell processor and configuration.
Notebookcheck’s HD review covered a Latitude with Core i5-7200U, Intel HD Graphics 620, 8 GB memory and a 500 GB hard drive; its Full HD review covered a separate Core i5-7300U system with 8 GB memory. These are useful examples of reviewed configurations, not specifications to apply to an unspecified 5580 listing.

Price: why there is no reliable winner
No current price for the exact HP model was established, and the Dell prices in the Notebookcheck reviews are historical review-era references for different configurations. They should not be presented as today’s prices. To compare offers, use listings from the same country and date, and distinguish new, used and refurbished condition. Include the Dell’s processor, panel, memory and storage, plus battery condition, warranty and operating system; compare those against the exact HP regional SKU.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Ratings: no like-for-like score is available
The retrieved Gadgets360 HP page showed zero submitted user reviews, not a zero product rating. The Notebookcheck Latitude pages are individual reviews of particular configurations, not a shared owner-rating scale covering both exact products. The available evidence therefore does not support a numeric rating comparison or a rating-based winner.

What to verify before buying
- Exact identity: Match the HP’s 4BA40EA code and regional SKU, or obtain the full processor and configuration details for the Latitude 5580.
- Screen: Confirm resolution on the device or through clear seller evidence; for the Dell, ask whether the panel is HD or Full HD and whether it is touch-enabled.
- Components: Check processor model, installed RAM, and drive type and capacity rather than assuming the family’s maximum or a review unit’s specification.
- Condition and support: For a used or refurbished laptop, check battery health, physical condition, included operating system and warranty.
- Price and ratings: Record the market, date, condition, seller warranty, rating scale and review count for each listing before calling one cheaper or better rated.
