Those are announced availability windows, not confirmation that a particular EliteBook configuration is on sale in every country.
Which HP notebook uses AMD’s new Ryzen AI chips?
The clearest match is HP’s EliteBook X G2a Next Gen AI PC. HP identifies the G2a as a Copilot+ PC with an AMD Ryzen processor and an NPU, placing it in the new AI-PC generation. HP’s product material states up to 55 NPU TOPS for the supported configuration; that is a manufacturer specification, not an independent benchmark.
The processor generation to look for is AMD Ryzen AI 400 or Ryzen AI PRO 400. AMD says both families deliver up to 60 NPU TOPS. That is AMD’s maximum stated for the processor families, rather than a measured result for every HP laptop or configuration. See AMD’s CES 2026 announcement.

AMD’s Q1 statement says systems powered by Ryzen AI 400 and Ryzen AI PRO 400 from major OEMs, including HP, would be available beginning in that quarter. Its later Q2 statement concerns Ryzen AI PRO 400 mobile workstations, not a blanket date for every Ryzen AI notebook. Product launch timing and retail availability can differ by market and channel.

How does the EliteBook X G2a compare with HP’s other AMD business laptops?
The EliteBook X G2a is the most direct fit if the priority is HP’s named next-generation Ryzen AI notebook. HP’s wider AMD business range includes other EliteBook generations and the EliteBook 6 G2a, while older EliteBook 8/6, ProBook 405 and ZBook Ryzen PRO systems may use earlier processor generations. A model name alone does not establish which CPU or NPU it contains: check the exact regional SKU and processor specification.
- EliteBook X G2a: HP positions this as a Copilot+ PC with an AMD Ryzen processor and NPU; its product page gives up to 55 NPU TOPS for the relevant configuration.
- EliteBook 6 G2a: A further AMD business-notebook family to consider, but verify its exact processor and configuration before treating it as a Ryzen AI 400 system.
- Older EliteBook, ProBook and ZBook Ryzen PRO models: These remain possible choices when the required configuration is available, but the Ryzen PRO name by itself does not mean the system uses Ryzen AI 400.
For a concrete example of why configuration matters, HP’s EliteBook 6 G1a datasheet lists six cores, 12 threads and up to 4.8 GHz boost for its AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 340 configuration. Those specifications apply to that configuration only; they do not describe the EliteBook X G2a or every EliteBook.

What should you verify before buying?
Availability and specifications can vary by country, channel and SKU. Before ordering, compare the exact product number rather than relying on a family name or a retailer’s broad listing.
- Processor generation: Confirm whether the listing says Ryzen AI 400, Ryzen AI PRO 400, or an earlier Ryzen PRO chip.
- NPU specification: Check the stated TOPS for the particular configuration. AMD’s up-to-60 figure is a processor-family maximum, while HP’s up-to-55 figure applies to the supported EliteBook X AMD configuration described in its material.
- Memory and storage: Match the installed capacity and upgrade options to your workload; configurations may differ even within one model family.
- Display, dimensions and weight: Compare the actual panel and chassis specification on the regional listing.
- Business needs: Check security, management features, ports, wireless options and warranty terms for the precise SKU.
- Local stock and price: Confirm current country-specific availability and seller terms. An announced launch window is not proof of current inventory.
What is not yet established about performance?
The available manufacturer specifications establish processor positioning and stated NPU capability, not real-world performance of a particular EliteBook X G2a configuration. No independent benchmark for the exact model configuration is established here. Treat TOPS as a specification, not a substitute for application-specific tests or a guarantee of faster everyday performance.
