TRON staking is a two-part process: Stake 2.0 locks TRX to create Bandwidth or Energy and TRON Power (TP), then TP must be voted for eligible Super Representatives (SRs) or SR Partners to earn protocol rewards. The current documented minimum is 1 TRX, and each staked TRX creates 1 TP. Delegating the resulting Bandwidth or Energy lets another TRON account use that resource while your TRX, TP and voting rights remain yours.
What TRON staking does
TRON’s current staking system is Stake 2.0. When you stake TRX, the network assigns three related benefits:
- Bandwidth: a resource used by ordinary TRON transactions.
- Energy: a resource consumed by smart-contract execution, including many token and decentralized-application transactions.
- TRON Power (TP): voting weight for electing Super Representatives.
The documented minimum Stake 2.0 amount is 1 TRX. Stake 2.0 also documents a rate of 1 TP for every 1 TRX staked. TP is not a separate coin and cannot be transferred to another account. It exists while the associated TRX remains staked.

- Choose Bandwidth or Energy as the resource output.
- Vote with the TP for eligible SRs or SR Partners.
- Monitor the candidate’s reward policy and claim rewards when the wallet or network operation makes them available.
How TRON rewards are generated
Super Representatives and SR Partners
TRON account holders use TP to vote for candidates. The network ranks candidates by votes:

The documented protocol figures are 8 TRX per block for block production and 128 TRX per block for the voting-reward pool. Those are network-level amounts, not a promise that an individual voter receives either figure. Your eventual amount depends on the SR’s share of votes, the candidate’s brokerage, rank, maintenance-cycle results and any governance or parameter changes.
Why the displayed APR changes
Wallets and governance pages may display an APR or estimated annual return. Treat it as a calculation, not a fixed rate. It can change when the candidate changes its brokerage, when your share of the candidate’s votes changes, when the candidate’s rank moves, when blocks are missed, or when chain parameters and voting totals change. A candidate’s published ratio is more useful when read alongside rank, reliability and maintenance-cycle history than when viewed alone.

SRs can retain a portion of the rewards they generate before distributing the voter share. The documented default brokerage is 20%; a candidate can use a different policy. Confirm the current ratio in the governance interface before voting, because the ratio and the resulting estimate can change. A high displayed APR with an opaque or frequently changing brokerage is not automatically a better choice.
What you need before staking
- A TRON-compatible wallet that can connect to TRONSCAN and sign Stake 2.0, delegation, voting and withdrawal transactions.
- TRX in the wallet for the stake itself.
- A small liquid TRX or sufficient Bandwidth balance for transaction fees. Do not lock every TRX if you still need to submit transactions or recover from a failed attempt.
- The correct TRON network selected in TRONSCAN. Verify that the address shown by the site is the address displayed in your wallet before approving anything.
- A decision about whether the staked resource will stay with your account or be delegated to another externally owned account (EOA).
Staking and delegation are separate operations. You can stake for your own Bandwidth or Energy and never delegate it, or stake first and delegate the resource later.

How to stake TRX with Stake 2.0 on TRONSCAN
- Open the official TRONSCAN site and select the network. Use the network selector and confirm that you are on TRON mainnet if you intend to stake mainnet TRX. Check the connected wallet address character by character against the address you expect.
- Connect your wallet. Approve the connection in the wallet, but do not sign a transaction until the amount, resource type and destination details are correct.
- Open the staking or resource section and choose Stake 2.0. Select the amount of TRX to lock. The documented minimum is 1 TRX.
- Choose the resource. Select Bandwidth for ordinary transaction capacity or Energy for smart-contract execution. The choice determines the resource your stake produces; it does not change the TP rate.
- Review the transaction. Confirm the amount, resource type, originating account and estimated fee. Keep enough liquid TRX or available Bandwidth to pay for this and later transactions.
- Sign in the wallet. Approve the Stake 2.0 transaction only after the wallet shows the expected contract and account. Wait for confirmation on-chain.
- Verify the result. Reopen the account’s resource and TP view. Confirm that the staked TRX, selected resource and TP balance reflect the transaction before proceeding to delegation or voting.
The stake remains associated with the account that performed it. Staking does not send ownership of the TRX to an SR, a delegatee or a voting candidate.
How to delegate TRX resources
What delegation transfers—and what it does not
Delegation is resource lending. You can delegate the Bandwidth or Energy created by your Stake 2.0 position to another EOA so that account can consume the resource. The underlying TRX remains staked under your name, and the TP created by that stake remains in your account. TP and voting power cannot be delegated.

A delegation can therefore help another account pay resource costs without giving it custody of your TRX. It does not give the recipient your voting rights, and it does not turn the recipient into the owner of the stake.
Delegation procedure in TRONSCAN
- Open the account’s Stake 2.0 resource view. Confirm that the Bandwidth or Energy balance you intend to lend is available and that the stake is not already committed to an incompatible pending operation.
- Select Delegate Resource. Choose either Bandwidth or Energy. Delegation is performed for one resource at a time, so repeat the operation if you need to lend both.
- Enter the recipient address. Use a different externally owned TRON address that you control or have verified with the recipient. Recheck every character; a transaction sent to the wrong address may not be recoverable.
- Choose a lock option if TRONSCAN offers one. A lock can restrict how soon the recipient can use or return the delegated resource. Read the current interface wording and select the period you actually intend to honor.
- Review and sign DelegateResource. Confirm the resource type, amount, recipient and lock setting in the wallet before signing.
- Verify on-chain. Check the delegation record and the recipient’s available resource after confirmation. Your stake and TP should still appear under your account.
Delegation does not itself generate voting rewards. If you want protocol rewards, you still need to vote with your TP. Conversely, you can vote while keeping all resources for your own account.
How to vote for SRs and receive rewards
Review candidates before allocating TP
Open the Governance or Votes area and inspect each candidate’s current rank, voter-reward ratio, maintenance-cycle timing and published information. Also consider missed blocks or other reliability indicators, governance participation and how transparently the SR explains its distribution policy. APR alone is insufficient because it is an estimate and can change.

Submit the complete vote allocation
- Open the voting interface for the same account that holds the TP.
- Select one or more SRs or SR Partners and assign the amount of TP to each. Your total allocation cannot exceed your available TP.
- Review the candidate ranks, reward ratios and the next maintenance-cycle timing shown by the interface.
- Include every candidate you want to keep. TRONSCAN Support Center explains: “Each vote transaction replaces all existing votes from your account with the complete allocation submitted in that transaction.” If you submit only one candidate when you previously voted for three, the omitted two lose their votes.
- Sign the vote transaction and wait for confirmation.
- Check the account’s vote record after confirmation. The updated allocation and TP total should match your submitted transaction.
Changing votes can affect reward calculations only after the network processes the change in its maintenance cycle. A vote that appears on-chain may therefore not alter the next displayed reward immediately.

How voting rewards are paid
The voting pool is distributed according to eligible candidates and voter allocations after candidate brokerage and protocol rules are applied. The interface may show an accumulated amount or an estimated APR. Use the wallet’s documented reward-withdrawal or claim function when it is available, and verify the destination account and fee before signing. There is no universal fixed hourly or daily payment promise in the documented figures; maintenance-cycle timing and candidate accounting determine when a claimable balance appears.
How often TRX staking rewards arrive
Rewards are tied to block production, voting eligibility and maintenance-cycle accounting rather than to a guaranteed calendar interval. Blocks are produced continuously, but your wallet may update or make rewards claimable only after the relevant cycle. The practical sequence is:
- Votes are recorded on-chain.
- The network applies the allocation and candidate eligibility at the maintenance cycle.
- Eligible block-production and voting rewards accrue according to the candidate’s policy.
- Your wallet or the documented withdrawal operation exposes a claimable amount.
If a balance appears late, check that the vote was confirmed, the selected candidate is still in the top 127, the candidate has not changed its brokerage, and the maintenance cycle has completed. A candidate dropping below rank 127 can remove voting-reward eligibility until it returns to the eligible range.
How to unstake TRX
Unstaking is a two-step exit
Stake 2.0 does not normally return staked TRX in one instant. You initiate unstaking, wait for the network’s delay, then withdraw the matured amount. The currently documented mainnet delay is 14 days, but chain parameters can change; query the current network parameter before starting an exit.

- Undelegate resources first when necessary. If Bandwidth or Energy is delegated, return or undelegate it according to the current Stake 2.0 interface and any lock restriction. A pending delegation can prevent the amount from being unstaked.
- Open Stake 2.0 and choose Unstake. Select the stake position or amount to release and review the TP and resource effects shown by TRONSCAN.
- Sign the unstaking transaction. Confirm the amount and account in the wallet. The network starts the maturity delay after confirmation.
- Wait for maturity. Do not treat a pending unstake as liquid TRX. Keep enough separate TRX for fees during the waiting period.
- Withdraw the matured TRX. Return to the Stake 2.0 position after the delay, choose the withdrawal action and sign it. Verify that the TRX has returned to the liquid balance.
Effect on TP and votes
Unstaking reduces the TP associated with the released TRX. If the reduction leaves your existing allocation above the available TP, the network can proportionally revoke votes. Review your vote record after unstaking and submit a new complete allocation if you want to restore a specific distribution with your remaining TP.
A pending unstake may be cancellable when the network and interface support that operation. Cancel it only when you deliberately want to restore the stake and its TP; check the resulting resource and vote balances afterward.

The resource choice does not change voting weight. Select based on who needs the resource and whether you intend to lend it. If your own account uses contracts, Energy may be more useful; if another account needs transaction capacity, delegating Bandwidth may be appropriate.
Common problems and fixes
“I staked, but no reward is showing”
Confirm that the stake is confirmed, TP is visible, and a vote was submitted. Staked TRX without a vote produces no voting reward. Then check whether the selected candidate is still in the top 127 and whether the maintenance cycle has completed.
“My old votes disappeared”
The latest vote transaction replaced the prior allocation. Resubmit one transaction containing every candidate and amount you want to retain. Do not send separate partial updates assuming they will append to the previous vote.

“The recipient cannot use my delegated resource”
Check that the delegation transaction confirmed, the recipient address is correct, the selected resource matches its workload and any lock period has elapsed. Delegating Energy does not provide Bandwidth, and delegating Bandwidth does not provide Energy.
“I cannot unstake the full amount”
Look for active delegations, lock settings or another pending Stake 2.0 operation. Undelegate or wait for the applicable lock, then retry. Keep the account funded for the transaction fee.
“My vote count is higher than my current TP”
This can occur after an unstake reduces TP. Review the account’s remaining stake and vote record, then submit a complete allocation that fits the available TP. Unstaking can proportionally revoke existing votes.

“The APR changed overnight”
APR is an estimate. Candidate rank, total votes, brokerage, block performance, maintenance-cycle results and chain parameters can all change the calculation. Compare the underlying inputs rather than treating the former percentage as guaranteed.
Operational and security checklist
- Verify the network and wallet address before every stake, delegation, vote and withdrawal.
- Keep a liquid TRX reserve for fees; do not stake the balance needed for emergency transactions.
- Read the contract name and transaction details in the wallet before signing.
- Record the recipient address and delegation lock period before delegating.
- After each confirmed operation, verify the account page and transaction record on-chain.
- Before voting, check current rank, eligibility, brokerage, reliability information and maintenance timing.
- Before unstaking, confirm the current network delay and understand that TP and votes will decrease.
What a realistic TRON staking plan looks like
For a personal account, stake only the TRX you can leave locked through the unstaking delay, choose the resource your transactions actually consume, and keep a fee reserve. Vote the resulting TP for candidates whose rank and distribution policy you can monitor. If a second account needs resources, delegate Bandwidth or Energy to that EOA without expecting to transfer TP. Recheck the candidate and the maintenance-cycle result periodically, because reward estimates and eligibility are not static.
The key distinction is ownership versus utility: staking keeps the TRX under your account while producing resources and TP; delegation lends only the selected resource; voting converts TP into potential protocol rewards; and unstaking removes the stake, resources and corresponding voting weight after the network delay.
