If a show disappears from one streaming service, it may still be available elsewhere. Search the exact title in the country where you want to watch, verify the offer on the provider’s own page, then compare subscriptions, free ad-supported options, rentals, purchases, and official DVD or Blu-ray releases. Availability changes by title and region, so confirm the details before you pay.
Why do shows leave streaming services?
Streaming services license many shows for limited periods. As Netflix Help Center puts it, “some titles do leave Netflix because of licensing agreements.” When a license is nearing its end, Netflix says it considers whether the rights are still available, a title’s popularity in a region, and the licensing cost. It says viewers receive a heads-up when a title will leave if the license is not renewed. Netflix Help Center explains why titles leave.
A show leaving one service does not mean it has vanished everywhere. Another provider may have it, or it may be offered as a rental or purchase. Rights vary by title and country, so there is no reliable universal answer to “Where can I watch this show now?” without checking the specific show and region.

- Write down the exact title and country. Include the series name rather than a franchise or character name, and check the country where you will watch. Different regional rights can lead to different offers. Netflix describes how it licenses some shows and movies from other rights holders: How Netflix licenses TV shows and movies.
- Search a legal availability guide. JustWatch says its guide covers subscription services, free and ad-supported streaming, rentals, and purchases, and lets users filter by services they already have. Start with JustWatch, then make sure the country setting matches your location. Treat the guide as a way to find possible offers, not a guarantee that a listing is still current. - Open the provider’s own show page. Confirm that the listing is for the right series and country, and check which seasons and episodes are included, whether access is included in a subscription or costs extra, and the current price and terms.
- Compare the available options. Consider whether a service you already pay for has the show, or whether the title is available free with ads, for rental, for purchase, or on disc. Wait for a return only if the provider confirms it; an expired license does not establish when or whether a show will come back.

There is no single best option for every show. The practical choice depends on what is currently offered for your title and country, how much of the series you want, and whether you value immediate streaming or longer-term access through an account or physical edition.

Can I download a show after it leaves?
A streaming app’s download feature generally provides offline viewing under that provider’s rules; it is not a separate permanent copy. Eligibility and availability depend on the title and service. If a show leaves a service, do not assume a download will remain playable indefinitely.
Google says eligible purchases appear in the user’s library and can be watched on supported devices. YouTube also supports offline downloads of purchases and rentals on supported mobile devices, subject to account and device requirements. Rental downloads remain subject to the rental period, and the applicable viewing window is shown at checkout. So, a digital purchase can provide access through the provider’s account and supported methods, but it should not be treated as a transferable file or a guarantee of permanent, unrestricted access.
Can I buy a show on DVD or Blu-ray?
Sometimes. A physical edition can be a useful option if the particular show has an official release, but not every series or season is available on disc. For example, Universal Pictures At Home lists complete-series sets for Downton Abbey, Suits, and House; those examples do not establish that another show has a disc release. Before buying, confirm that the edition is official and includes the seasons and episodes you want. Check language and subtitle options, whether it is DVD or Blu-ray, the disc region, and compatibility with your player.
