The most reliable way to check a Chime balance without using the mobile app is to sign in at Chime.com from a web browser. If you cannot access the website or the app, call Chime Member Services at (844) 244-6363; Chime lists the service as available 24/7. A Chime home-screen widget can show a balance without opening the app, but it still requires the app to be installed.
First, clarify what “without the app” means
There are two different situations behind this question:
- You have the app but do not want to open it. The Chime widget may display a Checking or Savings balance on your device’s home screen.
- You cannot install, open or access the app. Use Chime.com in a browser, or contact Member Services if you also cannot sign in online.
The widget is therefore a convenience for avoiding the app interface, not an app-free account-access method. If the app has been removed from the device, the website and telephone support are the relevant alternatives documented by Chime.

A quick decision guide
Choose the method based on the access you have, not just on whether you prefer a browser or phone.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- If you can sign in online, use Chime.com. It is the direct self-service route and avoids installing or launching the app.
- If the app is installed and you only want a quick glance, use the widget. It is faster for a routine check but is not an app-free method.
- If neither the app nor the website is usable, call Member Services. Explain whether you need a current balance, help signing in, or a statement.
- If you need proof of an earlier balance, request or locate the relevant statement rather than relying on a live available figure.
These choices answer different questions. A website or widget can show an account figure; a representative can help with access; and a statement documents a defined reporting period.
Method 1: Check through Chime.com
For someone who wants a self-service answer without launching the mobile application, the website is the clearest route supported by Chime’s Checking Account balance guidance.
- Open a browser. Use the browser on your phone, tablet or computer and go to Chime.com.
- Choose the sign-in option. Enter the same account credentials you use for Chime’s online account access. Do not enter them into a look-alike website reached through an unsolicited message or advertisement.
- Complete any security prompt shown by Chime. The exact prompt can vary by account, device and current security controls. Use only the verification method presented on the official site.
- Open the account view for the balance you need. Chime’s cited instructions specifically support checking a Checking Account balance after logging in. If you also have Savings, make sure you are reading the intended account rather than assuming every displayed figure is the card’s spending amount.
- Read the available figure before spending. The available balance is the amount Chime presents as usable now and incorporates pending transactions. If you need a historical figure for a reporting period, use the appropriate statement rather than treating the live available amount as an ending balance.
A browser session is still an authenticated account session. Closing the tab does not make it safe to leave the account open on a shared computer, so sign out when you finish and avoid saving credentials in a public browser.

Check whether the problem is limited to one browser or network before assuming your account is unavailable. Try a current browser, switch between a trusted Wi-Fi and mobile connection, and type Chime.com directly instead of following a link in an unexpected email or text. If the site is reachable but authentication fails, use Chime’s account-recovery choices on the sign-in page. Do not repeatedly guess credentials, because repeated failures can trigger additional security checks.
Checking on a phone, tablet or computer
The browser method is useful when your phone is unavailable, the app was removed, or you are working from a computer. The basic process is the same on each device: open the official site, authenticate, select the relevant account and read the displayed balance. A larger screen can make it easier to distinguish Checking, Savings and other account sections, while a phone browser may be more convenient when you are away from your usual device.
Do not assume that seeing the Chime homepage means you are signed in. Account information is tied to the authenticated session. If the site asks you to sign in, complete that step before treating any number as your balance.
Method 2: Call Chime Member Services
Chime lists Member Services at (844) 244-6363 and says the team is available 24/7. This is the option for a member who cannot access the app or Chime.com and needs help obtaining account information or a statement.

- 5-in-1 USB-C Hub: Experience comprehensive connectivity featuring a Power Delivery input, two USB-A 2.0 ports, a USB-A 3.0 port, and an HDMI port. (Note: The USB-C power delivery input port is only for connecting an external wall charger to power your laptop and cannot power peripheral devices.)
- 90W Pass-Through Charging: Achieve optimal charging with 90W pass-through power to your laptop, supported by a total input of 100W, with the hub reserving 10W for operational efficiency. (Note: Wall charger not included.)
- Quick Data Transfers: Accelerate your productivity with rapid data transfers using a high-speed 5Gbps USB 3.0 port and two 480Mbps USB 2.0 ports.
- 4K HDMI Display: Enhance your visual experience with a hub capable of delivering 4K resolution at 30Hz in both mirror and extend modes. Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Call the number yourself. Enter it manually or use a number you have independently confirmed. Do not rely on a caller who contacts you and asks you to call a different number.
- Explain the specific problem. Say whether you need help accessing your account, a current balance, or an account statement. “Chime card balance” can refer to more than one account figure, so identify whether you mean Checking, Savings or the account connected to your card.
- Follow the representative’s verification process. Chime’s public balance guidance does not publish the exact identity checks or guarantee that a representative will disclose a live balance on every call. Provide information only through the official support channel and follow the instructions given during the call.
- Ask for the appropriate record. If a live balance cannot be provided in the circumstances of your call, ask what statement or account-access help is available instead. A statement is a record for a defined reporting period, not necessarily the amount available for a purchase at that moment.
- Record the result safely. Note the date, the account discussed and any follow-up steps, but do not write down a full password, one-time passcode or other secret in an unsecured location.
Phone support is human assistance, not an alternative login screen. Its usefulness is greatest when the website and app are both inaccessible, while Chime.com is normally faster when you can authenticate online.
What to have ready for a support call
Be ready to describe the access problem and the account you mean. Saying “my card balance” may not identify whether you mean Checking, Savings, or the secured account tied to the card. You can also explain whether you need a live figure, a statement, or help restoring online access. Chime’s public instructions do not list a fixed set of verification questions, so wait for the representative to tell you what information is required.
A legitimate support interaction should not require you to disclose a password or one-time security code to an unsolicited caller. If a call seems suspicious, end it and dial the published number yourself.
Method 3: Use the Chime widget without opening the app
Chime describes a widget that can show Checking or Savings balances on a device home screen. This meets the narrower meaning of “without app”—you do not open the app each time—but it does not meet the requirement of using no app at all.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- Install the Chime app if it is not already on the device. The widget’s setup requires the app to be installed.
- Sign in and complete the widget setup described by Chime. The available controls depend on the device’s operating system and the version of the app.
- Add the Chime widget through the device’s home-screen widget controls. Select the account display offered by the widget, such as Checking or Savings, rather than assuming one number represents every Chime account.
- Use the home-screen display for a quick glance. Tapping the widget may open the app, but simply viewing the widget avoids opening the app for routine checks.
A widget is not an offline copy of your account. It may need the device to refresh its information, and the displayed figure should be interpreted using the same available-balance rules as the account view. If the app has been removed, the widget cannot substitute for Chime.com or Member Services.
Understand which balance you are reading
Available Balance
Chime says the Available Balance represents funds that can be used now and reflects pending transactions. A pending transaction has been initiated but has not finished processing. Consequently, the amount you see can differ from the balance you remember before a purchase, deposit or other transaction completes.
Use the available figure when deciding whether funds are currently presented as spendable. It is not a promise that every transaction will settle at exactly the moment you expect, and it should not be confused with a statement’s period-ending figure.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)

Statement or ending balance
A monthly or other account statement reports an ending balance for its reporting period. That number describes the account at the close of the period covered by the statement; it is not automatically the same as the live available balance shown after later transactions have been initiated.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
If you are reconciling records, write down the statement period and compare like with like. Use the current account view for present spending information and the statement for a historical reporting date.
Pending transactions
Pending items can explain why the available amount is lower or otherwise different from a previous account total. Because Chime says available balance reflects pending transactions, do not add a pending purchase back into your spending capacity merely because it has not fully processed.
Why two Chime screens may show different figures
Different figures do not necessarily indicate an error. A Checking balance, a Savings balance, a secured-account amount and a statement ending balance describe different account sections or time periods. A widget may also be showing the account selected during setup rather than every account you hold. Confirm the account label and whether the figure is marked available before comparing numbers.
Do not confuse a Chime Card balance with a Checking or Savings balance
The phrase “Chime card balance” is ambiguous. A Chime Card is linked to account funds, but the relevant account depends on what you are trying to measure.
- Checking balance: the account figure Chime’s balance article specifically describes checking through Chime.com.
- Savings balance: a separate account figure that may also be available in the widget.
- Secured Deposit Account: Chime’s card guidance says the amount in this account determines the Chime Card’s spending limit. That secured-account amount should not be treated as interchangeable with a Checking or Savings balance.
Before calling support or interpreting a number on a widget, identify the account name shown on the screen. If you are asking whether a card purchase can be made, the account and spending-limit rules that apply to the card matter more than a generic total from another Chime account.
What to do when you cannot access either the app or website
You forgot your sign-in details
Use the recovery options presented on Chime.com rather than creating a second account or repeatedly guessing. If recovery cannot be completed, call Member Services at the published number and describe the access problem. The representative may be able to help with account access or statements after completing the required verification.

Your phone is lost, broken or unavailable
Use a trusted computer or another trusted device to reach Chime.com. Avoid signing in on a public computer where the browser may retain credentials. If you cannot reach the website at all, the 24/7 phone channel is the documented fallback.
You need proof of a prior balance
Ask for the statement covering the relevant reporting period rather than relying on a current widget or available-balance screen. A statement and a live balance answer different questions: one is historical, while the other reflects the account’s current state and pending activity.
You received an unexpected message about your account
Do not use links or phone numbers in suspicious messages. Open Chime.com by entering the address yourself or call the published Member Services number. Never disclose a password or one-time security code to someone who contacted you unexpectedly.
You are using someone else’s device
If you must use a borrowed computer or phone, make sure it is trusted and avoid saving credentials. Sign out when finished and close the browser session. A widget on another person’s home screen is not an appropriate way to access your account, because it may display account information to anyone who can view that device.
Are balance alerts a substitute for checking?
Chime’s balance guidance describes daily balance alerts and transaction alerts as notification options managed through the app. Those alerts can supplement regular account review when the app is available, but they are not an independently verified replacement for signing in when the app cannot be used. A notification may be delayed, may describe a transaction rather than your current available amount, and does not replace a statement for historical records.
What is not established about ATM balance inquiries
The available Chime material identifies a Cash & ATMs section, but the reviewed guidance does not establish instructions for checking a balance at an ATM, nor does it establish any related fee, limit or availability rule. For that reason, an ATM should not be presented as a confirmed no-app solution here. Use Chime.com or Member Services unless you have current, account-specific ATM guidance from Chime.
Security practices for a browser or phone check
- Enter Chime.com yourself or use a bookmark you created from the official site.
- Check that the browser connection is secure before entering credentials.
- Do not share passwords, one-time codes or full account details with unsolicited callers, texts or emails.
- Sign out of Chime.com on shared or borrowed devices and do not save credentials there.
- When speaking with support, describe the account you need—Checking, Savings or the secured account associated with the card—so the response is not misunderstood.
- Keep any written notes limited to the date, account type and follow-up instructions; do not store authentication secrets with them.
For most members, Chime.com is the practical answer when the goal is to avoid opening the app. The widget is useful only when the app remains installed, and Member Services is the fallback when account access itself is the problem.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I check my Chime balance without installing the app?
Yes. Sign in to your account at Chime.com in a browser. If you cannot access Chime.com, call Member Services at (844) 244-6363, which Chime lists as available 24/7.
Can I see a Chime balance without opening the app?
Yes, if the app is installed and the Chime widget is available on your device. The widget can show a Checking or Savings balance on the home screen, but it is not an app-free option.
Will Chime give me my balance over the phone?
Chime lists Member Services as a support option and says the team is available 24/7. Its public guidance does not guarantee a live-balance disclosure on every call or publish the exact identity-verification steps, so ask what account information or statement can be provided after verification.
What does Chime Available Balance mean?
It is the amount Chime presents as usable now and it reflects pending transactions. It can therefore differ from a previous total or from a statement’s ending balance.
Is my Chime Card balance the same as my Checking balance?
Not necessarily. Chime identifies Checking, Savings and the Secured Deposit Account separately. The amount in the Secured Deposit Account determines the Chime Card spending limit and should not be treated as interchangeable with another account balance.
Can I use an ATM to check my Chime balance without the app?
Do not rely on that as a confirmed method based on the available Chime guidance. ATM balance-inquiry instructions, fees and limits are not established here. Use Chime.com or Member Services instead.
What should I use for an older balance?
Use the statement covering the relevant reporting period. A statement’s ending balance is historical, while the available balance is a current figure that reflects pending activity.
What if I cannot sign in to Chime.com?
Use the account-recovery options shown on the sign-in page. If recovery does not work, call (844) 244-6363 and explain that you need account-access help or a statement.
The Bottom Line
To check a Chime balance without opening the app, sign in at Chime.com. If you cannot access the website, call Member Services at (844) 244-6363, available 24/7. The widget is only for users who still have the app installed, and the account label and available-balance rules matter when interpreting the number.
