For a recruiting message, Anthropic’s stated check is that its recruiters contact candidates from email addresses ending in @anthropic.com. That is a useful screening rule, not conclusive proof of identity: check the full sender address, verify any job independently on Anthropic’s Careers page, and do not share sensitive information while anything remains uncertain.
What Anthropic’s recruiter guidance does—and does not—confirm
Anthropic’s Careers page says its recruiters only contact candidates from @anthropic.com email addresses. It also says legitimate recruiters will never ask for money, fees, or banking information before a candidate’s first day. Treat a message from another domain, or a request for those payments or details, as a reason to stop and verify rather than proceed.
A matching domain is not a complete identity check. The Careers guidance does not provide a public employee directory, and a visible sender address alone cannot rule out spoofing. The published recruiter rule is specifically about recruiting contacts; Anthropic’s reviewed public guidance does not provide a dedicated lookup service for authenticating every employee or other kind of company contact.
How to check a recruiting message safely
- Pause before replying, clicking, or sharing. Inspect the complete sender address and domain, not just the display name, logo, signature, or email design. Anthropic says recruiter messages come from addresses ending in
@anthropic.com; be cautious if the domain differs. - Check the role through Anthropic’s site. Type anthropic.com/careers into your browser or navigate there independently, then look for the position. Do not use a link in an uncertain message to reach the listing. Anthropic specifically recommends visiting Careers directly when a communication is in doubt.
- Reject requests for money or banking information before your first day. Anthropic says legitimate recruiters will not request money, fees, or banking information before then. Do not pay a supposed application, interview, equipment, or processing fee in response to a recruiter message.
- Keep sensitive details to a minimum until you have verified the contact. The Careers page links to regional candidate privacy policies, but the reviewed material does not establish one universal list of documents that is safe or required at each hiring stage. Consult the policy relevant to your region for privacy details, and ask for clarification through a contact route you found independently if a request seems unusual.
Interview details can be plausible without proving identity
Anthropic says interviews are conducted over Google Meet, and that technical roles may include live-coding tools such as Colab and CodeSignal. Those details can help you assess whether a proposed process is consistent with the company’s published description, but they do not authenticate the person who contacted you. A scammer can mention familiar platforms too, so use the sender and independently verified job listing checks rather than treating a video meeting or coding exercise as proof.

For a purported Anthropic employee outside recruiting
Do not apply the recruiter email rule as if it verified every employee or every company communication. The reviewed public pages do not describe a universal employee-identity check. If the contact is not a recruiting exchange, pause the conversation and independently find the relevant organization’s contact details on its official website; do not rely on contact information or verification links supplied in the questionable message.
Keep marketing and account-support addresses in their lane
Anthropic’s Help Center separately lists marketing email senders, including team@email.anthropic.com, api@email.anthropic.com, and support@mail.anthropic.com. Anthropic says those listed addresses are outbound-only and unmonitored. They are not a recruiter directory or evidence that a recruiter or employee has been authenticated. That support guide describes a messenger for Claude and API Console account issues, with available options varying by account type and plan. It does not identify the messenger as a recruiter or employee verification service, so do not treat it as one.
