Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →To use your phone as a webcam with Camo, install Camo Studio on your Mac or Windows computer and Camo Camera on your iPhone or Android phone. Open both, connect the phone—USB is the easiest starting point—select it in Camo Studio, then choose Camo as the camera in your call, recording, or streaming app.
Set up Camo on your phone and computer
- Install Camo Studio on your computer. Get the desktop component from Camo’s product page.
- Install Camo Camera on your phone. Use the app store for your iPhone or Android phone. Camo Camera runs on the phone; Camo Studio selects and presents its video to other applications.
- Open both apps. Keep Camo Camera running on the phone while you connect. For a first setup, use USB if it is practical; choose Wi-Fi if you need to position the phone away from the computer.
- Select the phone in Camo Studio. Confirm that its camera preview appears before opening or configuring your meeting or recording app. A phone connected by cable but without Camo Camera running can still show as “No devices connected.”
- Select Camo in the app you want to use. In that application’s camera or video settings, choose the Camo camera. Exact menu names vary by application and version.
Camo’s interface guide explains the preview and device-selection states. If your application does not show Camo, first confirm the preview works in Studio, then reopen the other application and check its camera-source menu.
Choose USB or Wi-Fi
| Connection | Best suited to | Trade-offs |
|---|---|---|
| USB | First-time setup and a smooth, robust video feed | The phone stays tethered and its port is occupied, which may matter if you need it for another accessory. |
| Wi-Fi | Flexible placement, overhead or top-down shots, moving the phone, or keeping its port free | Wireless video can have more latency, jitter, or hitching than a wired connection. Results depend on the phone, computer, network, and settings. |
Camo recommends wired use for the smoothest experience. Its Wi-Fi guidance says Camo adds a small delay on macOS to smooth wireless jitter. For Android on Windows, Camo says Wi-Fi avoids the USB-debugging requirement associated with wired connections. These are Camo’s product recommendations, not a guarantee of identical performance on every setup. See Camo’s Wi-Fi announcement for its explanation of the connection options.
Position the phone and check the picture
Place the phone securely, frame yourself or the subject, and verify the composition in Camo Studio before a call or recording. A stand or adjustable mount is optional for basic use, but can make framing easier; Wi-Fi can help when an overhead or top-down angle would be awkward with a cable. Camo links to mounting guidance from its product page; choose a mount compatible with your phone and the surface or angle you need.

Fix common Camo connection and video problems
Studio says “No devices connected”
- Make sure Camo Camera is installed and open on the phone.
- Check that the phone is selected in Camo Studio and that the preview appears.
- If the phone is physically connected but the phone app is not running, start Camo Camera and check again.
Camo Studio shows a warning
Camo’s interface guide says a warning can indicate that a device is not working as expected, or that another app is trying to use video when no device is selected. Check the selected source and confirm that the phone is connected and Camo Camera is running.
An iPhone will not connect to Camo Studio on Windows
Camo says its Windows Studio needs Apple’s standard mobile components to communicate with an iPhone. An iTunes installation commonly supplies them; if the components are missing, Studio may prompt you to install them. See the Camo FAQ.

The phone gets warm
Camo says image processing takes place on the phone and recommends keeping Screen Curtain enabled to reduce screen power and heat. Heavy effects and adjustments can add processing load. This is vendor guidance, not independent thermal testing. See Camo’s interface guide and FAQ.
The wireless picture hitches or feels delayed
Try USB if you need the smoothest feed or if Wi-Fi performance is inconsistent. If you need wireless placement, check the network and positioning, and remember that actual results vary by device and settings.
