- Download Spotify from the App Store, then create an account or sign in.

Spotify requires an internet connection for online listening. The app can also play through a web player in supported browsers. Spotify says an account can play on only one device at a time; its supported playback options include Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay, Spotify Connect, Chromecast, Alexa, and Google Assistant on compatible devices. Spotify’s Premium page also lists monthly audiobook listening hours for its subscriber catalog and says unused hours expire at month-end. Benefits and plan availability can differ by market, so check Spotify’s current Premium page for your country. Can I listen to Spotify offline?
Yes, but the content you can download depends on your plan: Premium supports albums, playlists, and podcasts, while Free supports podcast downloads only. To download supported content on mobile or tablet, connect to the internet, open it, and tap Download. Spotify’s offline-listening instructions.

How do I download an individual song?
Spotify’s mobile instructions do not offer a direct download for a single song. Add the song to a playlist, then download that playlist. The download restriction still depends on your plan: Free accounts can download podcasts, not music. Spotify’s download instructions.
What are the download limits?
- Spotify states a limit of 10,000 tracks on each of up to five devices.
- Go online at least once every 30 days to keep downloads.
- Reinstalling Spotify removes downloaded music and podcasts from the app; you must download them again.

How do I make Spotify play only downloads?
Spotify’s support path for Offline Mode on mobile and tablet is profile, Settings and privacy, then Data-saving and offline. Menu labels can change, so check the current app if they differ. Offline Mode restricts playback to downloaded items; anything not downloaded will be unavailable. Spotify also says downloaded items can play automatically when you have no connection. How do I save mobile data?
Use Wi-Fi for streaming and downloads when possible. Spotify requires Wi-Fi or mobile data for online use and recommends Wi-Fi to help avoid mobile-data costs. Its Data Saver setting reduces data use by showing fewer images and lowering audio quality. Spotify’s data-usage guidance.

- Turn on Data Saver if reducing data use is more important than audio quality.
- Use the audio-only option for video podcasts when available.
- Review media-quality controls; higher quality and lossless audio use more data. Spotify recommends lossless streaming primarily over strong Wi-Fi.
- Disable downloads over cellular if you want to avoid using mobile data for downloads.
How much storage does Spotify need?
Spotify recommends at least 1 GB of free memory. On iPhone, Spotify stores downloads in encrypted form on device storage. iOS may automatically free unused stored data when more room is needed; if there is no unused stored data left to remove, delete downloads manually to free space. What if a download fails?
- Check your internet connection and available storage.
- Confirm you have not reached Spotify’s five-device download limit.
- Restart the app and try again.
- If needed, reinstall Spotify, then download your content again.
