To search the web with Siri, activate Siri on your iPhone or iPad and ask a direct question, such as “What causes a rainbow?” Siri can use web information to respond. You’ll need Siri turned on and an internet connection.
Before you ask Siri a web question
- Turn on Siri: On iPhone, open Settings, tap Siri, then tap Turn On Siri and follow the onscreen instructions if you did not configure Siri during setup. See Apple’s Siri activation instructions.
- Connect to the internet: Apple says an internet connection is required to use Siri.
Ask Siri to search for information
- Activate Siri. Depending on your settings and iPhone model, say “Siri” or “Hey Siri,” or press and hold the side button on an iPhone with Face ID or the Home button on an iPhone with a Home button.
- Ask a complete, natural-language question about what you want to know. For example, say “What causes a rainbow?” or “Who made the first rocket that went to space?”
- Review Siri’s response for the web information it provides. Apple’s iPhone guide to using Siri and iPad guide to using Siri both show asking Siri for web information.
How to activate Siri on iPad
The basic process is the same on iPad: make sure Siri is enabled and the device is online, activate Siri using an available method, then ask your question. Activation options depend on the device and its settings; Apple’s activation guide covers iPhone setup, while its iPad guide demonstrates using Siri for web information.
