Use Selenium’s browser geolocation emulation, set the permission state if the page requests location, wait until the product page visibly shows its region and price, then save a screenshot. This reproduces a browser configuration—not necessarily the location or pricing inputs the retailer actually uses. Verify the visible location, currency, price, and availability, and record the conditions for every capture.
What Selenium can—and cannot—tell you about regional pricing
Selenium WebDriver controls a browser through a browser-specific driver. Its BiDi APIs can emulate latitude and longitude for a browsing context and set a site’s geolocation permission. That lets you observe how a page responds to a configured browser location.
It does not establish that geolocation alone determines a retailer’s price. A site may also use its own delivery-region selector, account or session state, cookies, locale, or other signals. Selenium’s documentation describes browser controls, not any retailer’s pricing algorithm. Treat each screenshot as evidence of what the page displayed under recorded conditions—not proof of why that price was shown.
Prepare a compatible Selenium and browser setup
Install the Selenium binding for your language and use a supported browser and corresponding driver. Selenium describes WebDriver as a language-neutral API and protocol; its setup guidance covers installing the binding, browser, and driver. See Selenium WebDriver getting started.

The examples below use Python’s Selenium BiDi API. The surfaced Selenium documentation is version-labelled 4.43.0 for BiDi emulation and permissions, and 4.50.0 for the common WebDriver screenshot API; these are not a single synchronized release snapshot. Check the API documentation against the Selenium version and browser in your environment before relying on exact method names or context setup.
Set a location, load the product, and capture it
Python workflow
This example shows the documented API shapes, but it is a workflow template rather than a tested, retailer-specific script. In particular, BiDi context and permission setup can vary with the installed Selenium and browser versions. Replace the sample URL, coordinates, origin, and page selectors with values for your authorized test.

Selenium’s documented coordinate API accepts latitude and longitude; use valid coordinates within the API’s documented ranges. The BiDi emulation API also exposes locale and timezone overrides when those browser settings matter, but neither is equivalent to routing network traffic through another country or selecting a retailer’s delivery region.

Set the geolocation permission separately
Overriding coordinates and setting permission are distinct operations. Selenium’s BiDi permissions API documents origin-scoped permission states of granted, denied, or prompt through set_permission. Set the permission required by the test for the retailer origin; otherwise a page may not receive the emulated location. Confirm the exact session and context arrangement in the Selenium version you install: Selenium Python BiDi permissions API.

A successful driver.get() does not guarantee that a dynamically updated price has appeared. Selenium’s default page-load behavior waits for document.readyState to become complete, but JavaScript-driven changes can continue afterward. Wait for a meaningful page condition—such as the expected region indicator and price element—rather than using a fixed sleep as the only readiness check. If a region selector must be used, operate the site’s visible selector or an authorized test mechanism, then wait until the page reflects the selection. Do not infer success merely because the browser accepted coordinates or navigation completed.
Choose the screenshot scope
The classic Python WebDriver API can save the current window as a PNG or return screenshot bytes. BiDi browsing-context capture can return a base64-encoded image and accepts viewport or document origin, with optional format and clipping. A viewport capture records the currently visible screen; document capture is intended to include page content beyond that viewport. An element screenshot can isolate a price area where supported, but include enough surrounding page context to identify the product and displayed region.

Make location comparisons reproducible
Keep the test conditions stable across captures and distinguish what automation configured from what the page displayed. Save a metadata record beside each image or in a CSV/JSON log.
- Product: URL and SKU or other product identifier.
- Configured browser state: latitude and longitude, permission state, locale and timezone overrides, and any site-selected region.
- Environment: browser and driver versions, viewport, and account and consent state.
- Observed result: visible region, price and currency, plus delivery charge, displayed tax, and availability when shown.
- Capture: timestamp, screenshot scope, and when the page’s price and region indicators met the wait condition.
These fields make runs easier to compare; they are not universal components of every retailer’s price. The page may use inputs your Selenium configuration does not reveal. Describe a result precisely—for example, “the page displayed this currency and price after the browser was configured with these coordinates”—rather than attributing the result to geolocation without evidence.

WebDriver cookie operations apply to the current browser context. Selenium’s cookie documentation says to navigate to the cookie’s domain before adding a cookie. The API also provides methods to add, inspect, and delete cookies. A retailer may store a selected country or postal code in a cookie or session, but names and meanings are site-specific. Prefer the visible location selector or an authorized test setup; do not assume an unknown cookie is a universal location switch or that editing one will change the price. Troubleshooting common capture failures
The page shows the original region
- Confirm the geolocation override was applied to the active browsing context and that the page was loaded after the override.
- Check whether the retailer needs geolocation permission; coordinate emulation alone does not grant it.
- Look for a site-level country, postal-code, or delivery-region selector. Follow the page’s displayed state rather than assuming browser location controls it.
The price is missing or stale in the screenshot
- Replace a fixed delay with explicit waits for the visible price and region elements.
- Confirm the selectors match the current page and that the page has not rendered a loading placeholder or an alternate currency state.
- For client-rendered product pages, wait on a stable visible condition after navigation;
document.readyStatealone is not a guarantee of completed updates.
Permission or BiDi calls fail
- Check that BiDi is enabled in browser options and that the binding and browser support the APIs used.
- Verify the permission is set for the correct origin and that the installed Selenium version’s API expects the context/session setup shown in its documentation.
- Consult the API documentation for the version actually deployed; the surfaced Selenium API pages carry different version labels.
A cookie cannot be added
- Navigate to the cookie’s domain before using WebDriver to add it.
- Use only a cookie obtained through an authorized and understood test flow. Its effect on location or pricing is retailer-specific.
The screenshot cuts off useful context
- Decide whether the evidence needs the visible viewport or the full document and select the corresponding capture scope.
- If capturing only a price element, include enough context in the artifact or companion metadata to identify the product and visible region.

No. It changes the browser’s emulated location, but the retailer may use other signals or a site-selected delivery region. Verify the page’s displayed state.
