Use ScreenshotAPI.net with Zapier by sending a page URL and your ScreenshotAPI.net API token to its screenshot service, then map the capture result into the next Zap action. ScreenshotAPI.net lists Zapier as an integration, but its reviewed official pages do not establish the current Zapier trigger and action labels or the exact result fields. Build and test the workflow in the live Zapier editor rather than assuming a particular field name or that the result is always a file or hosted image URL.
What you need before building the Zap
- A ScreenshotAPI.net account and API token. Its documentation calls the credential a
tokenrequest parameter. The account dashboard can roll the key, which issues a replacement and revokes the old one. See the Get Started documentation. - A Zapier trigger that supplies, or can be configured to supply, the webpage URL you want to capture.
- A downstream Zap action that can accept the returned data in the form ScreenshotAPI.net provides in your test. Inspect the test output before choosing a field.
Keep the API token private. If you roll it, update any Zap that still uses the revoked token.
Configure ScreenshotAPI.net and Zapier
- Choose the event that provides the URL. In Zapier, create or edit a Zap and set its trigger to the app and event where the target URL originates. The exact label depends on the app and current Zapier editor; the official ScreenshotAPI.net pages reviewed do not specify it.
- Add the ScreenshotAPI.net step. ScreenshotAPI.net lists Zapier as an integration, but its official pages do not verify the current action name or field-by-field setup. In the live editor, select the available ScreenshotAPI.net action if offered and follow its displayed connection and input fields. If the available setup instead asks for an API request, use the current ScreenshotAPI.net endpoint and parameter names from its documentation.
- Provide the target URL and token. Map the URL from the trigger into the request’s
urlfield and enter the account credential astokenwhere requested. The documented versioned endpoint ishttps://shot.screenshotapi.net/v3/screenshot?token=TOKEN&url=URL&[OPTIONS]. Treat that as a description of the documented request shape, not a literal URL to paste with placeholders. The getting-started material also mentions an unversioned endpoint, so check the current documentation before selecting an endpoint. - Select only the output and rendering options the next step needs. ScreenshotAPI.net documents image and PDF output, including JPEG, PNG, WebP and PDF, and options such as full-page capture and refresh behavior. Decide whether the destination needs a viewport or full-page capture, an image or PDF, and a URL or file-like value. Consult Render a Screenshot documentation for the currently documented parameters.
- Test the capture step. Run a test with a representative URL. Inspect the returned fields and determine whether the output available in your Zap is a file, a hosted URL, or another value. The reviewed official pages do not establish one universal Zapier output shape.
- Map the tested output to the next action. Choose a field that the destination action actually accepts, then test that action. A successful screenshot request alone does not guarantee the following step can use its result.
Choose capture settings for the workflow
Freshness and caching
If a Zap must capture the current page rather than reuse a cached result, the getting-started documentation describes fresh=true for requesting a fresh screenshot. Include it only when the workflow needs that behavior, and verify the parameter against the current documentation.
Page length and dynamic content
For a long page or a single-page application, test the actual target page. ScreenshotAPI.net says its renderer supports single-page apps, long content, lazy loading and delays; a page’s own scripts and loading behavior can still affect what appears in a capture. Use the relevant wait or rendering parameters documented for your endpoint rather than assuming a fixed delay works for every site. The help page describes renderer behavior.

Pages that require authentication
ScreenshotAPI.net describes cookies and saved cookie templates for authenticated pages. Only capture pages your account is authorized to access, and treat cookies as secrets. The reviewed official pages do not establish how cookie-related values map into every Zapier integration configuration, so check the live action or request fields and test carefully. See the features page.
Use the API directly if Zapier’s integration does not expose the fields you need
The service’s documented request uses a token, target URL and optional parameters. Endpoint examples differ across its pages: the versioned screenshot path appears in the current getting-started material, while another example uses an unversioned path. Confirm the endpoint and supported options in the live documentation before wiring a generic web-request action. Encode the target URL correctly, especially if it contains query parameters or reserved characters.

Check Get Started and Render a Screenshot for the exact endpoint and parameters currently supported. The available documentation describes informative HTTP status codes for errors; use the response status and message to distinguish an invalid credential, malformed request or other failure rather than retrying blindly.
Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Authentication or request error | The token is wrong, was rolled, or is not being sent under the expected parameter name. | Confirm the active dashboard token and the token parameter. If you rolled the key, replace the revoked key in the Zap. |
| The API rejects the request | The endpoint version, URL encoding or option names do not match the current API. | Check the current documentation, encode the full webpage URL, and remove unsupported or misspelled parameters. |
| The capture is stale | A cached result was reused. | Use the documented fresh=true behavior when a fresh capture is needed; verify its current availability and placement in the request. |
| The screenshot misses content or shows a partially loaded page | The page is dynamic, long, or loads content after the initial render. | Test the actual URL and adjust documented wait or rendering settings. Check whether full-page capture is needed. |
| The next Zap step cannot use the screenshot | The selected output field is not in the format the destination expects, or the assumed field does not exist. | Inspect the screenshot step’s test output and map the actual file-like value or URL accepted by the downstream action. |
| An authenticated page appears logged out | The required cookie or saved cookie template was not supplied or mapped as expected. | Confirm the service’s current cookie instructions and the live Zap fields. Never expose session cookies in logs or public workflows. |
Reliability, retention and cost considerations
Test with the same kinds of pages and destination actions the production Zap will handle. A page that works in a manual test may load differently when its content, authentication state or scripts change. Build error handling around the actual HTTP response and downstream action results, and avoid assuming a retry will fix a bad token or invalid parameter.

That depends on the result fields exposed in your Zap and what the destination action accepts. Inspect the test output and verify the destination mapping with a test run.
