In India, AWS documents UPI payments that can be authorized with PhonePe when the option appears in your AWS payment flow. For AWS’s Scan and Pay flow, select UPI, scan the QR code shown in the AWS Console with PhonePe, authorize the payment in the app, then confirm payment in the Console. You do not need a cloud server just to go live on YouTube: its supported options also include webcam and mobile streaming.
Can you pay for an AWS cloud server with PhonePe?
AWS announced a UPI Scan and Pay option for customers in India in April 2026. When it is available in your account’s payment flow, you can scan the QR code displayed in the AWS Console using a UPI app such as PhonePe. AWS also announced UPI invoice payments in 2024. These are AWS-specific options; they do not establish that PhonePe is accepted by every cloud provider or in every AWS billing situation. Check the payment methods shown for your account before starting a purchase. AWS’s Scan and Pay announcement and its UPI invoice announcement describe the respective routes.
Paying through AWS Scan and Pay
- Sign in to the AWS Console and proceed to the payment step for the service or bill.
- If UPI is offered, select it and display the QR code. The exact options depend on the account and checkout flow.
- Open PhonePe, use its QR scanner to scan the code, and review the payee and amount before authorizing.
- Complete the UPI authorization in PhonePe, then return to the AWS Console and check that it shows payment confirmation.
The AWS announcement describes this QR-based flow for AWS customers in India. Do not assume that the option will appear for every account or every charge; follow the live payment screen.
If the merchant sends a UPI collect request
A collect request is a different payment flow from scanning an AWS QR code. If a checkout offers PhonePe and sends a request, PhonePe’s help instructions say to log in, select the bank account to use, open the app notification, approve the merchant request, and enter your UPI PIN. Only approve a request when the merchant and amount match what you intended to pay. See PhonePe’s UPI payment help.

What about AWS invoice payments?
AWS separately announced UPI invoice payments in 2024. That flow describes a UPI payment request associated with the customer’s UPI ID and lists PhonePe among example apps. It is not necessarily presented alongside the Console QR flow, and the older invoice route should not be treated as a step in every new purchase.
PhonePe Wallet and linked cards
The cited payment information does not confirm that PhonePe Wallet or a PhonePe-linked card can be used for AWS cloud charges. PhonePe’s terms distinguish payment instruments, and wallet use depends on merchant acceptance. Use the payment method actually offered in the AWS flow rather than assuming a wallet or linked card will work. PhonePe’s terms explain that distinction.

Do you need a cloud server for YouTube Live?
No. YouTube documents encoder, webcam, and mobile ways to stream; buying a cloud server is optional. A server may be part of a separately configured encoder or relay setup, but YouTube’s instructions do not prescribe a particular cloud provider, server type, or instance size. If you only need to stream a camera or a one-off event, start with YouTube’s built-in webcam or mobile route, or an encoder on a computer you already have.
For an encoder-based stream, you need YouTube’s server URL and stream key in the encoder. YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Keep the key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a stream to your channel. Set up an encoder stream, with or without a server
Before configuring the encoder
- Your channel must be verified and have live streaming enabled. YouTube offers encoder, webcam, and mobile routes; encoder setup should be tested before the event.
- Choose the encoder workflow only if you need its control over a video or audio source. A remote server can encode or relay video, but those are different jobs: encoding processes a source into a stream, while relaying forwards an already encoded stream.
- Choose a resolution and bitrate that the server’s upload connection can sustain. A quoted instance size alone does not establish that its network will sustain your target stream.
Configure and start the stream
- In YouTube Studio, create or select the live stream and locate its stream URL and stream key.
- In your encoder, enter the YouTube server URL and stream key. YouTube recommends RTMPS, a secure extension to RTMP, in its encoder settings guidance.
- Set the encoder resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate to a combination your upload connection can maintain. YouTube’s current recommendations list H.264 at 14 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps and 8 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps. These are YouTube recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular cloud server or network will deliver reliably.
- Start sending the stream from the encoder. Check the preview in YouTube Live Control Room and verify audio and video before making the stream public or starting the event.
- Monitor the stream during the event. Leave network headroom and test ahead of time, especially if the encoder is on a cloud server whose available network capacity you have not measured.
- End the stream when finished. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived.
Before paying for a cloud server
There is no universally correct server size for an unspecified YouTube Live stream. The cited YouTube guidance sets encoder quality recommendations, but does not size AWS instances or establish the capacity of a particular instance’s network. Before committing to a recurring bill, decide whether the server will encode or merely relay, choose a target resolution and bitrate, verify the provider’s network and compute limits, and run a test stream. Also check whether the provider offers UPI for your country and account, and whether the charge is prepaid, recurring, or invoice-based. AWS’s India UPI announcements do not establish payment availability at other providers.

Common payment and streaming problems
UPI does not appear in AWS checkout
Payment options can vary by account and billing flow. Check the methods currently offered in the Console; do not assume a prior UPI announcement means the option is available for this specific charge. If it is absent, use an available payment method or contact AWS billing support.
The QR payment completes in PhonePe but AWS has not confirmed it
Return to the AWS Console and check the payment status before trying again. Avoid making a second payment while the first is still pending; if the status does not resolve, use AWS billing support and retain the transaction details.

A collect request is missing or the approval fails
Open PhonePe and check the app notification, confirm the selected bank account, and verify the merchant request is still valid. Do not share your UPI PIN or approve an unfamiliar amount. The collect-request instructions apply only when the merchant has sent that kind of request, not to AWS’s QR Scan and Pay flow.
The encoder is not reaching YouTube
Recheck the server URL and stream key in the encoder, confirm live streaming is enabled on the channel, and verify that the encoder is sending. A mistyped or stale key, a stopped encoder, or inadequate upload capacity can prevent a usable preview. Replace a key if it may have been exposed.
The preview buffers or video quality is unstable
Lower the bitrate or resolution to a level the upload connection can sustain, then test again. YouTube’s recommended bitrate is a target for a given codec and format, not proof that your server’s network can sustain it continuously.
You need to stream for more than 12 hours
YouTube’s stated automatic archive behavior applies to streams under 12 hours. Do not rely on that automatic archive behavior for a longer broadcast; plan how to manage the stream and preserve any recording you need.
