To save PageCrawl screenshots automatically, connect Dropbox under Settings > Integrations > Dropbox, authorize PageCrawl, and choose a destination folder. Enable screenshots for the monitored page. PageCrawl then uploads a screenshot when it detects a change; this is not the same as saving a screenshot after every check.
Set up automatic screenshot archiving to Dropbox
- Add a page to monitor. Enter the website URL in PageCrawl and configure the check frequency and screenshot options for that monitor. Available options may vary by plan or interface version, so confirm the current labels in the monitor editor.
- Connect Dropbox. In PageCrawl, open Settings > Integrations and start Dropbox setup. Sign in to Dropbox if prompted, authorize PageCrawl, and select the folder where you want files saved. PageCrawl documents this integration as available on all plans. PageCrawl’s Dropbox setup guide was updated August 19, 2026.
- Enable screenshots on the monitor. The Dropbox integration uploads a screenshot when PageCrawl detects a change on that monitored page. Make sure screenshots are enabled for the individual monitor; connecting Dropbox alone does not turn on screenshot capture.
- Verify a saved capture. After a change is detected, check the monitor’s change history and the selected Dropbox folder. The documented file path pattern is
{your-folder}/{page-name}/{datetime}.jpg.
PageCrawl says an expired Dropbox authorization disables the connection and generates a notification. If uploads stop for that reason, reconnect Dropbox under Settings > Integrations.
Choose between change-triggered captures and every-check captures
Dropbox uploads on detected changes are different from PageCrawl’s Record every check setting. The latter is for saving captures even when a check finds no change. For screenshots on every check, PageCrawl requires both Screenshots and Full Page Screenshots to be enabled. Consult the current PageCrawl documentation on website archiving and capture settings for the exact requirements and available monitor options.
| What you want to keep | Trigger | What is saved | Key condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dropbox screenshot copies | Detected page change | Screenshot image in your selected Dropbox folder | Enable screenshots on the monitor and connect Dropbox |
| Screenshots for unchanged checks too | Every check | Screenshot capture for each check | Enable Record every check, Screenshots, and Full Page Screenshots |
| Replayable web archive | Detected page change, or every check if configured | WACZ archive preserving more of the page state and assets | Web Archiving is documented as an Ultimate feature; monitors must run every six hours or less often |
Screenshot or WACZ archive: which should you use?
Use screenshots for a quick visual record
A screenshot is a flat image of the page’s appearance at capture time. It is useful for visual reference and comparisons, but it does not preserve the full interactive page or its underlying assets as a replayable website.

Use WACZ when replaying the page matters
PageCrawl describes WACZ archives as preserving the page and its assets for replay, including interactions such as scrolling and clicking. Its documentation says these archives can be replayed in a browser or downloaded, and names ReplayWeb.page and Webrecorder as compatible viewers. These are PageCrawl’s descriptions of its product, not an independent evaluation. An archive may be more suitable than an image when you need a richer record, but neither format should be treated as a guarantee of legal admissibility or evidentiary sufficiency.
PageCrawl documents change-triggered WACZ archiving as an Ultimate feature. It also says the monitored page must run every six hours or less often. For archives on every check, enable Web Archiving and configure the applicable setting for the monitor, template, or workspace. See the website archiving guide for the current feature conditions.

Common problems and fixes
- No screenshot appears in Dropbox: Confirm Dropbox is connected, the destination folder was selected, and screenshots are enabled for that specific monitor. The documented automatic upload trigger is a detected change, so a check with no change does not by itself imply a Dropbox upload.
- The integration stopped working: Check for a PageCrawl notification about expired Dropbox authorization, then reconnect from Settings > Integrations.
- You need an image from every check: Change-triggered Dropbox syncing is not an every-check archive. Enable Record every check, Screenshots, and Full Page Screenshots as required by PageCrawl.
- You need to inspect or replay page content: A screenshot is only an image. Configure Web Archiving and check that the plan and check-frequency conditions for WACZ are met.
Or skip the browser setup
For one-off or application-driven captures, ScreenshotNeo is a screenshot API and MCP server for developers. Its API returns a screenshot or PDF from one GET request; it is not a PageCrawl monitor or a Dropbox change-detection workflow.

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are not billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo’s free plan.
