Short answer: If you are selling, OffMarket lets you create a listing without connecting a browser wallet. You enter a Solana wallet address, receive a deposit address created for that listing, and send the tokens from any wallet. This avoids a wallet-connection prompt on the website, but it does not make you anonymous: the address and the related transfers are public on the Solana blockchain. Buyers do need to connect and sign with a wallet because SOL payment must be authorized.
What “without exposing your identity” can and cannot mean
OffMarket’s no-connection seller flow can reduce the easiest form of website-level linkage: the site does not ask your browser to connect to the wallet that holds your tokens. That is a narrower privacy benefit than anonymity. The address you enter is recorded on-chain, and blockchain observers can inspect the listing, transfers, escrow activity, and eventual settlement.
A Solana address is a public identifier. It does not contain your name by itself, but anyone who can associate it with you can usually associate the related OffMarket activity as well. Common sources of that association include a centralized-exchange withdrawal, a public social-media profile, a donation page, an earlier doxxed transaction, or reuse of an address that you have already shared publicly.

The practical objective, therefore, is not to erase the public record. It is to avoid unnecessary links between that record and your real-world identity.

Seller routes compared
| Factor | Connected-wallet listing | No-wallet-connection listing |
|---|---|---|
| Wallet connection to the OffMarket website | Required; you connect a supported Solana wallet. | Not required; you enter an address instead. |
| Who authorizes the initial asset movement | Your connected wallet signs the transaction. | You send the tokens from whichever wallet holds them. |
| Public address exposure | The wallet address and resulting transactions remain public on Solana. | The entered destination address is written on-chain and remains public. |
| Operational experience | Convenient and immediate from the connected wallet. | Requires careful address entry, deposit-address verification, and a separate transfer. |
| Cancellation | A fixed-price listing can be cancelled with the seller’s wallet signature; a live Dutch auction cannot be cancelled after it goes live. | The same listing rules apply, but any required signature must still come from the seller’s wallet. |
| Main privacy trade-off | Convenience comes with a direct browser-to-wallet connection. | The browser does not connect to a wallet, but the blockchain record is still traceable to the address you entered. |
How to sell without connecting a wallet
1. Prepare a dedicated Solana address
Use an address that is not publicly tied to your name, exchange account, social profile, or previous wallet activity. This is a privacy practice based on the public-address model, not a guarantee that the address cannot be identified later. A separate address is useful only if you also avoid funding or reusing it in ways that create an obvious link.
- Do not start with an address that appears on a public profile or prior identity-verified transaction.
- Do not assume that a new address is automatically private if its first funding transaction comes from an account already associated with you.
- Keep a secure record of which address you entered. Losing track of it can make it difficult to identify proceeds or returned tokens later.
2. Enter the listing details
On OffMarket, provide the token mint, amount, sale type, duration, and the wallet address where SOL proceeds or unsold tokens should be sent. The no-wallet seller flow is designed to accept this destination address without requesting a browser wallet connection.
Review every character of the destination address before submitting. The address is not merely a display preference: OffMarket states that it is the only place proceeds or returned tokens can go. Do not use an exchange deposit address for this field; use an address in your own control.

3. Generate and verify the listing-specific deposit address
After the listing is created, OffMarket provides a deposit address belonging to that listing alone. Compare the address shown on the listing with the address you are about to use in your wallet. Treat a copied address, browser tab, or message as untrusted until it matches the listing you just created.
Creating a deposit address does not move your tokens. It only gives you the destination for the transfer that funds the listing. If you are switching devices or returning later, reopen the listing and verify the address again rather than relying on an old clipboard entry.
4. Send the exact amount once
Send the listed tokens from the wallet that holds them to the listing-specific deposit address. OffMarket instructs sellers to send the exact amount once; the listing starts when the full amount arrives. Do not split the amount into several transfers unless OffMarket explicitly provides a different instruction for that listing, and do not send a test amount to the same deposit address as a substitute for verification.
Confirm the token mint, amount, network, and destination in your wallet before approving. Solana transfers are not a normal bank payment that can be recalled by a support agent after confirmation. The no-wallet flow reduces the chance that a website connection reveals the wallet you use, but it increases the importance of your own address-checking process.

5. Confirm the public record
Once the transfer is submitted, use a Solana block explorer to inspect the transaction and the listing-related addresses. OffMarket says that listings can be checked by pasting the wallet address and that activity is public on-chain. This review lets you confirm that the intended address, token mint, and amount appear in the public record before you share the address with anyone else.
When connecting a wallet is required
Creating a connected listing
OffMarket names Phantom, Solflare, and Backpack as connected-wallet options. In this route, the website requests a transaction from the wallet you connect, and you review and approve it in that wallet. The advantage is a more direct workflow from the asset-holding account; the disadvantage is that the site sees which public address you chose to connect for that session.
Cancelling a listing
A fixed-price listing requires the seller’s wallet signature to cancel. A live Dutch auction cannot be cancelled after it goes live, according to OffMarket’s stated rules. If cancellation matters to your plan, select the sale type and timing with that constraint in mind rather than assuming that every listing can be withdrawn later.
Signing is proof of control, not proof of identity
Solana’s documentation explains that signing a message proves control of a wallet without a transaction, fee, or network call. A signature therefore demonstrates control of an address. It does not reveal your seed phrase, establish your legal identity, or make the address anonymous. Always read the wallet prompt and reject requests that ask for a seed phrase or private key; a legitimate signature request should never require either.

Buyers cannot use the seller’s no-connection method because a purchase must authorize SOL payment. OffMarket says the buyer’s payment and token delivery occur atomically in the same transaction, so a wallet must sign the transaction that spends the SOL.
Connect only a wallet you control and inspect the amount, destination, and transaction details in the wallet confirmation window. A connection itself does not make your real-world identity public, but the signed transaction creates a permanent public association between the buyer address, the payment, and the purchased tokens. If that address has already been linked to you elsewhere, observers may be able to infer the connection.
OffMarket’s published material for this flow does not establish a separate identity-verification or KYC requirement. That should not be interpreted as a promise that no jurisdictional, platform, wallet-provider, or compliance checks could ever apply. The documented requirement is that the buyer connect and sign a wallet transaction.
What remains visible on-chain
| Record | What it can show | Privacy implication |
|---|---|---|
| Entered proceeds or return address | The public address selected when the listing was created. | Anyone who can link that address to you can associate it with the listing. |
| Seller deposit transfer | The sending wallet, receiving listing address, token mint, amount, and time. | The source wallet may reveal where the assets came from. |
| Escrow and settlement activity | Program interactions and transfers associated with the sale. | The complete transaction path can be inspected after the sale. |
| Buyer payment | The buyer’s signing address and SOL movement. | Atomic delivery does not hide the buyer address. |
| Wallet signature | Cryptographic proof that the signer controlled an address at that moment. | It proves control, not a person’s name or legal identity. |
The no-wallet route changes where the browser obtains authorization; it does not remove the blockchain entries. In particular, entering an address before tokens move means the destination itself is part of the public transaction context.
Privacy practices that reduce straightforward linkage
- Use address separation deliberately. Keep the listing address distinct from addresses used for public profiles, donations, exchange withdrawals, or other activity that identifies you.
- Control the destination yourself. Use your own wallet address for proceeds and returned tokens. An exchange deposit address can be controlled by a third party, may be reused or rotated by that exchange, and does not give you the same control over the eventual record.
- Check before every send. Verify the listing-specific deposit address, token mint, amount, and network in the wallet confirmation screen.
- Assume all transfers are inspectable. Do not describe a separate address as anonymous. It is better understood as a way to reduce obvious attribution.
- Limit public disclosure. Do not post the listing address, transaction hash, or screenshots alongside identifying information if your goal is to avoid easy linkage.
- Preserve access securely. A dedicated address is useful only while you retain safe control of its keys. Never disclose a seed phrase to OffMarket, a wallet provider, or anyone claiming to help with a transfer.
Common mistakes and what to do
The wrong address was entered for proceeds
OffMarket states that the entered address is the only destination for proceeds or returned tokens. Check the listing details before sending assets. If the listing has not been funded, correct the destination through the available listing controls rather than sending money and hoping it can be redirected. If funds have already moved, the blockchain record cannot be edited; use the platform’s documented support channel and provide the relevant transaction information without exposing private keys.
The deposit address was copied incorrectly
Stop before approving the transfer. Reopen the listing, compare the complete address, and make sure you are on the intended OffMarket page. If a transfer has already gone to an address that does not belong to the listing, recovery depends on control of that destination; neither a wallet signature nor a normal blockchain transaction can reverse an arbitrary transfer.
The full amount did not arrive
OffMarket says the listing starts when the full amount arrives and instructs sellers to send the exact amount once. Check the transaction status and token mint in a Solana explorer. Do not send additional funds to a different address while trying to repair the situation, because that can create a second, unrelated transfer.
You expected the no-wallet route to hide you
The route prevents a browser wallet-connection prompt, but it does not hide the entered address or the subsequent transfers. If the address was funded by an identifiable account or reused publicly, the separation may provide little practical privacy.

OffMarket says a Dutch auction cannot be cancelled after it goes live. Treat the sale type and start time as commitments, and verify them before publication. A fixed-price listing has a different cancellation rule: the seller’s wallet signature is required.

Fees and network costs
| Cost | Documented treatment | What to budget for |
|---|---|---|
| Marketplace fee | OffMarket charges 1%. | Apply the fee to the transaction according to the listing terms. |
| On-chain fee cap | The on-chain configuration has a 5% hard cap. | The cap is a protocol limit; the published material does not state circumstances in which a charge would reach it. |
| Listing and cancellation | Free apart from Solana network fees. | Keep SOL available for the blockchain transactions required by your chosen flow. |
| Wallet transfers | Normal Solana network fees still apply. | Allow for network fees when funding, cancelling, or settling a listing. |
The no-wallet flow does not eliminate network costs because you still send an on-chain transfer and the listing may require later settlement activity. A connected wallet does not make those fees disappear either.
Which route should you choose?
Choose no-wallet connection when browser linkage is your main concern
Use the address-based flow if you want the OffMarket website to avoid requesting a connection to the wallet that holds your assets. It is most useful when you can maintain a genuinely separate address, verify every destination manually, and accept that the resulting public record remains traceable.
Choose a connected wallet when speed and convenience matter more
Use a connected wallet when you prefer an immediate, wallet-driven transaction and are comfortable associating that public address with the listing. This route reduces manual transfer steps, but it gives the site a direct connection to the address you selected.
For buyers, connect only the wallet you intend to use
A buyer must sign SOL payment, so avoiding every wallet connection is not an option for the documented purchase flow. Select an address whose public history you are willing to associate with the purchase, inspect the atomic transaction details, and approve only what you expect.
Bottom line for privacy-conscious use
OffMarket supports a seller workflow that does not connect a wallet to the website: enter a wallet address, generate the listing’s deposit address, and send the exact token amount from any wallet. That is the clearest way to reduce browser-level linkage, not a way to become anonymous. The address, transfers, escrow interactions, and settlement remain public on Solana. Buyers must connect and sign because SOL payment must be authorized, and any signature proves control of an address rather than concealing the person behind it.
