To try it, link Hulu in the Google Home app under TV & Video, then say, “Hey Google, watch [show] on Hulu.” Current Google documentation does not confirm that this Hulu command works on every newer Google TV device, so compatibility depends on the endpoint and whether Hulu linking is available for your setup.
How to link Hulu to Google Assistant

Open the Google Home app and go to Settings. Depending on the app flow, look for TV & Video or Videos and photos.

Select Hulu from the available services and sign in to link your account. The service should then appear as connected in Google Home.

Make sure the Google Assistant device and the Chromecast or other playback endpoint are set up in the same Google Home environment, then try a voice command.

The setup labels above reflect the linking flow reported when the integration launched in December 2019; app labels and service availability can change.
What to say to start a Hulu show
On a linked, supported endpoint, say: “Hey Google, watch [show] on Hulu.” For example, replace “[show]” with the title you want to watch. Google said subscribers could use the integration to play “thousands of hit TV shows and movies from their basic subscription catalog.” That description was part of a Google spokesperson’s 2019 statement, not a current catalog or availability guarantee. Chrome Unboxed and 9to5Google reported the rollout on December 18, 2019, describing it as arriving over the following days.

Which devices were named as supported?

The launch-era compatibility list comes from the December 2019 reports. Google’s current Assistant help page explains how to activate Assistant on Chromecast with Google TV and Google TV Streamer, but does not guarantee that the older Hulu linking command works on those devices.
Hands-free Assistant versus a Google TV remote
On a Nest Hub or another Assistant device, the launch command was spoken as a hands-free request. On Chromecast with Google TV and Google TV Streamer, Google’s current instructions describe pressing and holding the Voice Remote’s microphone button to activate Assistant. That is a different activation method, and Google’s YouTube-focused search and browsing examples should not be read as proof of Hulu support.

If Hulu does not start

Check the account link: Return to Google Home’s TV & Video or Videos and photos services and confirm that Hulu is connected. If it is missing, link it again and sign in.

Confirm the target device: The launch reporting named Chromecast, Chromecast-built-in devices, Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max. A newer Google TV device may support Assistant without supporting this particular Hulu command.

Try a specific title and service: Use the wording “watch [show] on Hulu” so the request identifies both the program and provider.

Check regional and software availability: The launch reports do not establish present-day availability in every country or on every software version. If Hulu is absent from the linking menu, the feature may not be available for that account or setup.

How this differs from Hulu and Alexa on Fire TV
Hulu announced a separate Alexa integration for Fire TV and Echo in 2017, with examples including “Alexa, watch ESPN on Fire TV,” “Alexa, pause,” and “Alexa, fast forward 2 minutes.” Those examples describe Alexa’s own integration and do not establish that Google Assistant offers the same playback controls. Hulu’s announcement documents the Alexa feature.
