Google Calendar on Android now offers access to your task lists in a full-screen Tasks view, as well as showing dated tasks on the calendar grid. The distinction matters: Google says tasks need a date to appear on the calendar, but undated tasks can still be reached from the Tasks view. Google Play’s Calendar listing, updated August 13, 2026, describes full-screen task-list access directly in the app.
What does Google Tasks integration add to Calendar on Android?
Calendar combines two ways to work with tasks: a full-screen view for accessing task lists, and the calendar grid for tasks that have dates. You can use the Tasks view to reach your lists, including tasks that do not appear on the grid. To see a task on the grid, assign it a date.
Google’s current Google Calendar Play Store listing says users can create and manage tasks alongside events and access their lists in a full-screen view. The listing was updated August 13, 2026.
How do I open task lists in Calendar?
- Open Google Calendar on your Android device and sign in to the Google Account that contains your tasks.
- Tap Tasks at the top right to open the full-screen Tasks view.
- Choose a task list to browse or manage its tasks. To add a task from this view, tap Add task.
The available labels or placement may change as Google updates the app. Google says tasks sync across devices when you are signed in to the same Google Account; its Google Workspace Tasks page also describes task lists, subtasks, starring tasks, and scheduling task time as busy.

How do I create a task from the calendar?
You can start a task in any of three ways:
- Tap an empty calendar slot and choose Task.
- Tap Add, then choose Task.
- Open Tasks at the top right and tap Add task.
In the task details, you can add a start date and time, a deadline date, a description, and the task list where it belongs. A deadline is distinct from the scheduled start: Google says deadlines appear in Calendar’s all-day section. Tasks can be edited, marked complete, or deleted from the documented Android workflow.
Why is a task missing from the calendar grid?
Calendar’s grid shows tasks with dates; an undated task remains accessible through its task list in the Tasks view. If a dated task still does not appear, check whether the Tasks calendar is enabled in the Calendar menu. You can hide that calendar without turning off task notifications.

When do task notifications arrive?
- A task with a date and time sends a notification at its scheduled time.
- A task with a date but no time sends its notification at 9 a.m.
- A task deadline notification is sent at 9 a.m. local time on the deadline date.
These are separate scheduling choices: setting a deadline does not mean the task has a timed appointment on the calendar.
Can tasks repeat, and where do overdue tasks go?
You can configure repetition using the date and time controls. Tasks with subtasks cannot repeat. Calendar shows upcoming instances and adds more over time rather than displaying every future occurrence at once.

The Android Calendar Pending tasks view surfaces uncompleted tasks from the preceding 365 days, providing a way to find recent unfinished work.

Google’s October 2, 2020 announcement introduced creating and viewing dated tasks in its mobile Calendar apps, with syncing across desktop and mobile. Google said the Android and iOS rollout could take up to two weeks and covered G Suite customers and personal Google accounts. That was earlier mobile task support, not the later full-screen task-list experience.

On November 26, 2024, 9to5Google reported that a fuller Tasks view was widely rolling out in Android Calendar, describing a Tasks icon in the top bar and a screen resembling the standalone app. The report also said Calendar’s create-task action still produced dated entries at that time, and that the standalone Tasks app had a list widget Calendar lacked. Those interface details describe the rollout reported then, not a guarantee of the current layout. Google’s later Play listing now describes full-screen task-list access in Calendar.
