To create a website thumbnail with ApiFlash, get an access key, send the page’s fully qualified URL to its screenshot endpoint, and set thumbnail_width and an image format. For example, a 600-pixel-wide WebP thumbnail can be requested with a GET call. Keep the key on your server—not in browser-visible blog code—and check that the captured page renders its Hindi text and fonts correctly.
What you need before making a thumbnail
- An ApiFlash access key from your account dashboard. Requests require a valid key.
- The target page’s complete URL, including
https://orhttp://. - A desired thumbnail width and output format. ApiFlash supports JPEG, PNG, and WebP.
- A server-side place to make the request if the resulting thumbnail will be generated by your publishing workflow. Do not expose the access key in public browser code.
ApiFlash describes its service in its API documentation as a screenshot API. The workflow is an API request and response, not a translation or thumbnail-design feature: the target page must already provide the Hindi content you want shown.
Make a thumbnail with ApiFlash
1. Choose the capture dimensions
Use thumbnail_width to set the output thumbnail width. ApiFlash says it preserves the aspect ratio. The browser viewport parameters width and height are separate: they determine how the page is rendered before the image is produced, while thumbnail_width scales the output.
For a blog card, a viewport capture is often a better fit than a very tall image of the whole page. Set full_page=true only when the thumbnail should include the entire page; that option disables thumbnail_width.

2. Request an image
This illustrative URL requests a 600-pixel-wide WebP image. Replace the placeholder key and target URL with your own values. URL-encode the target URL when placing it in a query string.

With the default response_type=image, the response is image data; save those bytes with an appropriate file extension. For a JSON document containing links to the screenshot and optional extracted page data, request response_type=json.
3. Pick the output format
jpegis the documented default format, with default quality 80.webpis supported and accepts thequalityparameter.pngis supported; the documentation specifically identifies JPEG and WebP as formats that supportquality.
Choose a format based on your blog’s image pipeline and test the result at the actual display size. A screenshot that looks legible at full size may become difficult to read once it is shown as a small card.

Make Hindi text legible in the screenshot
ApiFlash’s accept_language parameter sets the request’s Accept-Language header. It may affect a target website that serves localized content based on that header, but it does not translate the page or guarantee Hindi text. The target site must supply the Hindi content and render it.

- Inspect line wrapping and clipping at the final thumbnail width.
- Allow the target page’s fonts and content to load. ApiFlash’s FAQ says the site’s own fonts are the reliable option for consistent font rendering; system fonts can vary across environments. See the ApiFlash FAQ.
- If the relevant content appears late, use a wait condition or selector rather than assuming the default capture timing is sufficient.
Control page loading, interruptions, and freshness
Wait for the right content
The documented default wait criterion is network_idle. Other documented choices include dom_loaded and page_loaded. You can also use delay or wait_for when appropriate. ApiFlash advises preferring wait conditions to an arbitrary delay where possible. wait_until_timeout caps waiting at 30 seconds; a wait_for selector times out after 15 seconds if no matching element appears.
For lazy-loaded content, a selector that identifies the element you need can be more useful than a fixed delay. ApiFlash’s guides cover screenshot workflows at its guides page.

Remove common interruptions or capture a region
The no_cookie_banners and no_ads parameters can suppress common interruptions. Use element to target a CSS selector, or crop to capture a defined rectangular region. Confirm the resulting image because site layouts and selectors can change.
Decide how often to refresh
ApiFlash documents ttl values from 0 to 2,592,000 seconds and a fresh=true option to bypass a cached screenshot. Identical cached requests do not count against the monthly screenshot quota according to the documentation. For thumbnails that do not need to reflect every page visit, cache the image and set a refresh policy that matches how often the target content changes.
Protect the key and integrate thumbnails into your blog
Do not put an access key in HTML, JavaScript, or another asset delivered to every visitor. Have your server or a trusted backend call ApiFlash and then save the image or use a returned image URL in your publishing workflow. ApiFlash’s guides describe proxy approaches using Nginx or Cloudflare Workers to keep the key hidden.
A practical publishing flow is to generate or refresh the image when an editor adds or updates a target URL, store the resulting image with the post, and serve that stored thumbnail to readers. This avoids making a screenshot request on every blog page view. If you need a new screenshot for every update, use fresh=true deliberately and account for the additional requests.

ApiFlash’s official service page displayed a free allowance of 100 screenshots per month and paid plans of $7/month for 1,000, $35/month for 10,000, and $180/month for 100,000 screenshots, plus custom enterprise plans when retrieved for this article. Pricing and plan terms can change, so verify the current details on ApiFlash’s service page before choosing a plan. Its documentation states a rate of 20 requests per second with a burst size of 400; exceeding the burst can cause a 429 response. Failed identical captures are limited to five requests per hour.
