For the right cycle, settings, and care instructions, start with your washer’s exact model number and its manual: Samsung’s controls and available features vary by model. You can search by model code and find the matching manual through Samsung Support for washers. The guide below explains common controls and choices, but your machine’s panel and manual take precedence.
How do I use my Samsung washing machine?
The usual process is to load laundry, add detergent and any needed additives, choose a cycle, adjust the settings and optional features your washer permits, close the door, and press Start. Exact labels and order can differ by model; Samsung’s examples include Power, a cycle selector, Temp., Rinse, Spin, Soil, Delay Start, Pre Soak, and Start/Pause.
- Load the washer. Sort laundry by fabric and care-label requirements. Keep waterproof or water-resistant items separate from non-waterproof items.
- Add detergent and additives. Use the dispenser and product amounts specified by your washer manual and detergent label.
- Select a cycle. Match the load to the care label and the cycle descriptions available on your machine.
- Adjust permitted settings. Choose temperature, rinse, spin, or soil options if they are available for that cycle.
- Start the load. Close the door and press Start or Start/Pause, as labeled on your washer.
If you cancel a cycle, the washer may drain the tub, depending on the model. Check the manual before relying on a particular button sequence or procedure.
What do the settings on my Samsung washer mean?
A cycle is the main wash program. Settings modify how that program runs, while features add optional functions. Which controls can be changed depends on both the model and the selected cycle. Samsung explains these distinctions in its cycles, settings, and features guide.

- Temperature (often Temp.): Sets the wash-water temperature where adjustable. Follow garment care labels and the detergent instructions.
- Spin: Changes spin behavior or speed where offered. A lower-spin option may suit some delicate or water-resistant items; use the manual’s guidance.
- Soil: Adjusts the soil level where supported, which may affect the wash program.
- Rinse: Adjusts rinse options on models and cycles that permit it.
- Features: Options such as Delay Start or Pre Soak add a function to a load when available. Deep Fill, Aqua Jet, and Extra Rinse are not universal; Samsung notes that Deep Fill can lengthen a cycle on applicable washers.
Do not assume a control is broken if it cannot be selected: some settings are unavailable with particular cycles. Consult the panel guide in your exact model’s manual.
Which cycle should I use on my Samsung washing machine?
Choose by load type, fabric-care limits, and soil level, then confirm that your model has the cycle. Samsung’s cycle names and availability vary; these common descriptions are not a promise that every washer offers each option.

How do I clean my Samsung washer?
Routine upkeep helps the washer dry between loads and keeps its cleaning cycle on schedule. Samsung’s US support advice is to wipe the appliance and detergent drawer regularly, leave the door and drawer open after use so the tub can air-dry, and run Self Clean or Pure Cycle as directed for the model.

- Regularly: Wipe exterior surfaces and the detergent drawer with a damp cloth.
- About monthly or when prompted: Run Self Clean or Pure Cycle without laundry in the tub. Samsung’s cycles guide specifies at least monthly, or every 20 washes for top-load and 40 washes for front-load models; other Samsung cleaning guidance describes intervals around 30–40 loads. Follow your exact manual and the washer’s reminder rather than treating one count as universal.
- Front-load models: Clean the pump filter at the interval and by the procedure specified in your manual.
Self Clean/Pure Cycle is for the washer, not clothes. For odor or visible mold, follow Samsung’s exact washer-cleaning procedure and the labels on any products used. Samsung cautions against leaving bleach in the washer before starting the cleaning cycle and says never to run Self Clean with laundry inside. Tide Washing Machine Cleaner is one third-party option named by Samsung, not a requirement for every routine cycle; follow both product directions and washer instructions.
Where can I find my Samsung washer manual?
Go to Samsung’s US washer support page and search with the washer’s model code. The matching manual is the best source for its available cycles, button labels, cleaning schedule, filter arrangement, and model-specific procedures. A general guide cannot establish whether a particular washer has a given cycle, calibration mode, or control combination.

What should I do if the washer shows an error?
Note the displayed error code, then check the model manual and Samsung’s support information before trying a fix. Samsung’s washer FAQ says there is no dedicated reset button; power-cycling may clear a minor glitch or stored error code, but it is not a guaranteed fix for a persistent fault. If the code or problem remains, use the model-specific support options for repair assistance rather than repeating a generic reset.
