To update an Astro A50 Gen 4, connect its base station to a compatible computer by USB, switch the device to PC mode, open ASTRO Command Center, and place the headset on the base station so it is charging. If Command Center offers a firmware update, follow its in-app prompt and select Download. The update steps below are based on Logitech’s A50 guidance, but its detailed firmware article is titled for Gen 3—not Gen 4.
Before you start
- Computer: Logitech’s Windows installation page lists Windows 10 and Windows 11; its Mac page lists macOS 10.15. Both pages were last updated on February 16, 2023. These listings do not establish compatibility with every newer operating system, so check Logitech’s live support pages before installing Command Center.
- Software: Install or open ASTRO Command Center for your platform using Logitech’s Windows instructions or Mac instructions.
- Connection: Use the A50 base station’s USB connection to the computer. Logitech’s setup instructions say the device should be in PC mode.
Update the A50 Gen 4 firmware
- Connect the A50 base station to the computer with USB and set the device to PC mode.
- Open ASTRO Command Center and place the headset on the base station. Confirm that the headset indicates it is charging.
- Wait for Command Center to show a firmware update prompt. Logitech’s A50 instructions describe a prompt for both the headset and base station. If a prompt appears, select the firmware link in the application and choose Download.
- Leave the headset and base station connected while the application carries out the update. Do not disconnect or interrupt the process.
If Command Center does not offer an update
An update prompt is not guaranteed: the available sources do not establish that Logitech currently serves a new firmware release to every Gen 4 unit, or identify a current Gen 4 firmware version. Confirm the base station is connected by USB, the device is in PC mode, and the headset is seated and charging. If the computer still does not detect the device, or no update is offered, consult Logitech Support rather than installing firmware intended for a different generation.
How to interpret Logitech’s firmware instructions
Logitech’s compatibility pages explicitly list A50 Wireless + Base Station Gen 4 (2019 release) as supported by ASTRO Command Center. However, the step-by-step firmware article located for this procedure is titled “Updating firmware on A50 + Base Station Gen 3.” Its sequence is useful general A50 guidance, not proof of a particular Gen 4 firmware release or version. Do not assume that a Gen 3-specific firmware file applies to Gen 4.
