In RuneScape: Dragonwilds, the Personal Chest spell is listed as unlocking at Construction level 40. In ordinary play, each cast costs 20 Law Runes and 15 Astral Runes and has a listed five-second cooldown. It gives you remote access to personal storage; it is separate from the Private setting on a placed chest.

Unlock Personal Chest at Construction level 40

Current guides list Construction level 40 as the Personal Chest unlock threshold. Jagex’s magic help explains that spells unlock as skills level up and that the skill progression shows unlock levels, but does not give this spell’s exact threshold. Check your in-game progression or the spell tooltip in case a game update changes it. Jagex’s Using Magic help documents the general spellbook and spell-wheel controls; the level 40 figure is reported by RuneScape Dragonwilds Wiki’s Construction guide and MetaForge’s Personal Chest listing.

How to reach the unlock

Construction XP comes from building, repairing, and reading Construction Skill Tomes, according to the Construction guide. The available information does not establish a verified fastest route or a reproducible material total, so choose activities based on the resources you have rather than relying on an unverified leveling recipe.

Equip and cast the spell

  1. Open the Skills tab and check Construction progression for the Personal Chest unlock.
  2. Once unlocked, open the spellbook. On Jagex’s documented PC controls, press P.
  3. Drag Personal Chest into an open spell-wheel slot.
  4. Press Q to open the spell wheel, select Personal Chest, and cast it. Controls can differ by platform or if you have remapped keys.

These are Jagex’s documented general spellbook and spell-wheel steps; consult the in-game controls if your setup differs. Jagex: Using Magic.

Rune cost and cooldown

For ordinary play, budget 20 Law Runes plus 15 Astral Runes per cast, or 35 runes total. The listed cooldown is five seconds. These exact Personal Chest figures are reported by the Construction guide and MetaForge spell listing; they are not specified on Jagex’s general magic help page.

Law Runes are listed as unlocking at Runecrafting level 50, according to the RuneScape Dragonwilds Wiki’s Runecrafting guide. That is a separate progression from the spell’s Construction level 40 requirement: Construction unlocks Personal Chest, while Runecrafting level 50 is the listed Law Rune unlock.

What Personal Chest does—and what it does not do

The Construction guide describes Personal Chest as a 20-slot portable chest that opens personal storage remotely around Ashenfall and inside vaults, with contents shared with the bank chest. Those capacity and access details come from the guide, rather than Jagex’s general help page; in-game behavior and availability may change with updates.

Personal Chest versus a placed chest’s Private setting

Personal Chest is a spell for remote access to your personal storage. A placed chest’s Private checkbox is a distinct multiplayer privacy feature: Jagex’s version 0.9 notes say an owner can open a chest and check Private to lock it. That setting does not unlock or replace the Personal Chest spell. Jagex’s 0.9 patch notes.
