Later achievements added through DLC or updates do not count toward the requirement. Xbox says Mythic status remains yours once earned, and eligible games you completed in the past may count retroactively.
What counts toward a Mythic Achievement?
Xbox defines the requirement as completing all of a game’s original achievements—not every achievement that may eventually appear for that game. Later DLC and update achievements are excluded; Xbox marks these additions as “add-on” in the interface.
That distinction matters for games that have grown over time: you need to finish the original set, not chase add-on achievements that arrived later. Xbox says the Mythic status you earn stays with you.
How to track your Mythic progress
- Open the game’s achievement list and check the progress bar at the top to see how close you are to Mythic status.
- Use the option to focus on the original achievements still needed. This view helps separate the required set from later content.
- Look for the “add-on” label on achievements added through DLC or updates; those do not count toward Mythic status.
- Check Guide or Achievement details for similar progress information.
To review completed games and earned achievements, open the Gaming tab on your profile. Mythic Achievements in your history have a heroic frame. Friends’ Gaming tabs can also show their achievement records.

Can past game completions count?
Xbox says eligible games completed in the past—including Xbox 360 titles—have received Mythic Achievements retroactively. That does not mean every older game is eligible. Check the achievement list on your account to see whether a Mythic progress bar or status appears; an eligible past completion may count without replaying the game.
Who can use Mythic Achievements?
Xbox Wire announced the feature on September 29, 2026, as an early look for Xbox Insiders starting that day. The announcement does not give a general-public release date, name the Insider rings that receive it, or publish a complete list of eligible games. Availability may therefore vary; check current Xbox announcements and the achievement list on your own account rather than assuming the feature has rolled out to everyone.

Practical tips for earning one
- Use the original-achievement view to identify the requirements you still need.
- Skip later achievements labeled “add-on” when your goal is Mythic status.
- Use the progress bar, Guide, or Achievement details to check what remains.
- If you completed a game previously, check its achievement list before replaying it; eligible historical completions may already count.
The feature uses Xbox’s built-in achievement list and profile tools. Xbox’s announcement does not identify a paid service or accessory required to earn or track Mythic status.
