To play Arjun, you must own Street Fighter 6 and then unlock his DLC through the Year 4 Character Pass, Year 4 Ultimate Pass, or an individual Fighter Coins purchase. Once the entitlement is active, Arjun appears on the character roster. His Outfit 2 is obtained separately by filling the Avatar Arcade acquisition gauge or purchasing it with Fighter Coins.
What you need before Arjun can be played
Arjun is an add-on character, not a free roster unlock. The base game is required on a supported platform. Nintendo’s official listing describes the add-on as requiring Street Fighter 6 and unlocking the additional character Arjun.

#1 Best Overall
- Classic Experience Built for a Modern Era: With all core gameplay modes present, plus two brand new modes and enhanced visuals, Street Fighter 6 redefines the classic fighting game genre.
- Distinct Fighting Styles to Master: 18 diverse characters including legendary World Warriors and exciting brand new characters add their own flair to the game at launch, with more to be added post-launch.
- Brand New Game Modes: The Street Fighter franchise continues to hone its skills and redefine the fighting genre with the introduction of three new foundational modes – Fighting Ground, World Tour and Battle Hub.
- In-Game Commentating: Street Fighter’s first-ever Real-Time Commentary Feature, supported with subtitles in 13 languages, incorporates the voices of popular Fighting Game Community (FGC) commentators like Vicious and Aru directly into the game to narrate what is happening on-screen just like a real tournament.
- Two New Control Schemes: Classic Controls returns alongside two brand new options: Modern Controls allow you to perform special attacks with simple button combinations and are designed for players who want to fight without memorizing and practicing special move button combinations first. Dynamic Controls only require a press of the Auto-Attack button to perform attacks and is a great control type to use when you have friends and family over for a quick, casual game.
Step-by-step: unlock Arjun
- Install and launch the base game. Confirm that Street Fighter 6 is installed on the supported platform and that you are signed in to the account that will own the DLC.
- Choose one entitlement route. Buy or redeem the Year 4 Character Pass, buy or redeem the Year 4 Ultimate Pass, or purchase Arjun individually with Fighter Coins.
- Complete the platform transaction. If you use Fighter Coins, make sure the account has enough of the in-game currency and finish the purchase confirmation. If you use a pass, confirm that the pass is attached to the same account and platform as the base game.
- Restart or return to the game if necessary. The sources confirm that pass owners and individual purchasers receive Arjun, but they do not publish a universal, platform-specific menu sequence for refreshing entitlements. Closing and reopening the game, then checking the roster again, is the practical first step if the purchase is not immediately visible.
- Select Arjun from the roster. Once the entitlement is recognized, choose Arjun in the character-selection screen for an available mode. Capcom identifies Fighting Ground and Battle Hub as places where Arjun appears.
If Arjun is still locked after purchase
- Check that you launched the correct edition of Street Fighter 6 and are using the account that made the purchase.
- Confirm that the transaction shows as completed in your platform account rather than pending or canceled.
- Restart the game so it can recheck downloadable-content entitlements.
- Verify that the Year 4 pass or Fighter Coins purchase is listed for your platform and region; console and PC entitlements are not automatically interchangeable.
- If the store shows ownership but the roster remains locked, use the platform’s purchase-restoration or support process. Do not buy the character a second time until the first transaction is resolved.
What kind of fighter is Arjun?
Arjun trades speed for power. Capcom describes him as a slow, forceful character whose attacks can inflict recoverable damage even when they are blocked. He supplements that pressure with projectiles and traps, so the opponent must decide whether to block, move, challenge or accept temporary damage while Arjun prepares the next layer.
That design makes Arjun a setup character rather than a rushdown character. You generally gain more from controlling the opponent’s choices than from repeatedly sprinting forward. A blocked attack can still advance your plan when it leaves recoverable damage, while a correctly placed trap can make the opponent hesitate long enough for a heavier attack to connect.
Arjun’s core specials and how their interactions work
Breathing Ring and Breathing Shockwave: vary projectile height
Breathing Ring creates an air ring, and Breathing Shockwave launches it at different heights. The height choice is the important decision: changing the trajectory changes how the opponent must respond. A high ring can ask a different defensive question from a low ring, and alternating the two prevents the projectile from becoming a predictable timing cue.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsStart by practicing the height options in isolation. Learn which version travels high, which travels low and how long Arjun remains committed during the action. Then alternate heights in a simple sequence instead of attempting a complicated combo. The goal is to make the opponent react to the ring’s position while you remain ready to place a pillar or use a heavy attack.
Divine Pillar: choose distance or delay
Divine Pillar summons a pillar from the ground. Its distance changes with attack strength, so the button version determines where the hazard appears. Holding the button delays activation, giving you another way to alter the timing.
- Distance control: Use the different attack strengths to place the pillar closer or farther away.
- Timing control: Hold the button when you want the pillar to activate later instead of immediately.
- Decision pressure: The opponent must account for both where the pillar will appear and when it will become active.
In training, place each distance beside a stationary opponent, then repeat while changing only the hold time. This separates the two variables and makes it easier to recognize whether a miss came from incorrect spacing or incorrect timing.
Cruel Shoulder into Justice Beyond: weaponize an active pillar
Cruel Shoulder has a special interaction with an active Divine Pillar. When the shoulder contacts the active pillar, Arjun can use Justice Beyond to grab and swing the pillar in any direction. This is not a generic follow-up: the pillar must already be active and the shoulder must make contact with it.
Practice the interaction in three stages. First, activate Divine Pillar without moving and learn the moment at which it becomes active. Second, approach with Cruel Shoulder and confirm the contact timing. Third, add directional choices to the Justice Beyond swing so you can send the pillar where the opponent is trying to escape. The useful skill is recognizing the active-pillar window, not simply memorizing the names of the moves.

Ghastly Interrogation: recoverable damage changes the payoff
Ghastly Interrogation is a special throw. Under normal conditions it inflicts recoverable damage. When the opponent already has recoverable damage, the throw converts that damage into normal damage instead. This gives Arjun a reason to use the throw after blocked attacks or other actions that have already placed recoverable damage on the opponent.
Do not treat the throw as an automatic opener. Its distinctive value appears after you have established recoverable damage and the opponent is focused on defending against the next strike. The sequence is a resource check: create recoverable damage first, then look for the throw when the opponent is reluctant to press a button.
Indomitable Defence into Moral Breakdown
Indomitable Defence turns an incoming melee attack into a recoverable-damage counter. Moral Breakdown can follow with forward punches, and those punches convert to normal damage when they hit. This gives Arjun a defensive answer to an opponent who tries to interrupt his slower setup.

The move is most useful when you have a reason to expect a melee challenge. If the opponent is waiting, backing away or using a non-melee option, the counter’s value is reduced. Use it to discourage predictable close-range interruptions, then return to projectile and pillar control once the opponent respects the threat.
Super Arts: what each level contributes
| Super Art | Level | Role identified by Capcom |
|---|---|---|
| Howling Destruction | Level 1 | Arjun’s Level 1 Super Art. |
| Instant Oblivion | Level 2 | Creates space so Arjun can prepare Divine Pillar. |
| Yaksha’s Order | Level 3 | Arjun’s Level 3 Super Art. |
Instant Oblivion has a clearly stated setup function: it creates room to prepare Divine Pillar. That makes it the Super Art to study first if your plan revolves around pillar placement. Howling Destruction and Yaksha’s Order are identified as the Level 1 and Level 3 options, respectively; the official descriptions summarized here do not specify additional frame data, damage values or combo routes, so those details should be learned in the in-game command list and training mode rather than guessed.
A practical learning order for new Arjun players
The following order is an instructional recommendation based on how Capcom describes Arjun’s tools, not a claim that it is the only or mathematically optimal route.
- Learn Breathing Ring height control. Practice launching the ring at each available height and observe how the opponent’s defensive response changes. Alternate heights without adding other specials.
- Add Divine Pillar placement. Practice each attack-strength distance, then repeat with held-button delays. Your first objective is reliable placement, not damage.
- Connect the two ideas. Use a ring to make the opponent defend while you decide whether the next action should be a pillar, a heavy attack or a retreat. Change the timing so the ring and pillar do not become a fixed pattern.
- Learn the Cruel Shoulder interaction. Set an active pillar, contact it with Cruel Shoulder and complete Justice Beyond. Repeat until you can recognize the activation window without watching the move’s name.
- Introduce recoverable-damage decisions. After a blocked attack creates recoverable damage, test Ghastly Interrogation. Against a predictable melee challenge, test Indomitable Defence into Moral Breakdown.
- Study Instant Oblivion. Use the space it creates to prepare Divine Pillar, then practice choosing a near or far pillar and changing the delay.
How to build a round around Arjun’s pressure
Start by making the opponent defend
Arjun’s blocked attacks are not automatically wasted because they can leave recoverable damage. Use that property to establish a defensive problem: the opponent must block the attack, move away from the next hazard or risk taking a heavier hit. The immediate objective is not maximum speed; it is to make each defensive choice expose a different answer.

Reserve the pillar swing for confirmed situations
Justice Beyond requires an active pillar and Cruel Shoulder contact. Because both conditions matter, attempting it without a prepared pillar can give up the setup that makes Arjun dangerous. Treat the interaction as a conversion of an existing hazard rather than a replacement for basic neutral control.
Recognize recoverable damage before choosing the throw
Ghastly Interrogation becomes more valuable after recoverable damage already exists. Check the opponent’s recoverable-damage state before choosing it. If no recoverable damage is present, the throw does not receive the normal-damage conversion described by Capcom.

Outfit 2 is separate from the character entitlement. You have two documented options:
- Avatar Arcade route: Fill the master acquisition gauge in Avatar Arcade.
- Fighter Coins route: Buy Outfit 2 with Fighter Coins.
Buying Arjun through a pass or as an individual character does not, by itself, establish that Outfit 2 is unlocked. Plan for the costume as a separate progression or currency decision. The official material does not state a universal coin price or the number of Avatar Arcade activities required to fill the gauge.
Story and modes where Arjun appears
Arjun’s Arcade story is available in Fighting Ground. Capcom also identifies Fighting Ground and Battle Hub as places where Arjun appears. If you want to learn the character while following his dedicated arcade content, start in Fighting Ground; if you are looking for his presence in the online social environment, check Battle Hub.
The available official descriptions do not publish a more detailed, platform-specific menu path for opening the Arcade story or refreshing a newly purchased character. Use the mode labels shown by your current game version and select Arjun after his DLC entitlement is recognized.
Pass or individual purchase: a decision guide
Choose the Year 4 Character Pass when
- You want Arjun through a pass rather than a single-character transaction.
- You expect to use other Year 4 character entitlements and the current store listing makes the bundle worthwhile for your collection.
- You prefer one purchase that grants the pass’s stated character access instead of buying each desired character separately.
Choose the Year 4 Ultimate Pass when
- You want the broader Year 4 bundle offered on your platform.
- You have checked which additional content is actually listed for your edition and region.
- You are comfortable paying for the bundle rather than limiting the purchase to Arjun.
Choose the individual Fighter Coins purchase when
- Arjun is the only Year 4 character you want right now.
- You already own other relevant pass content or do not need a bundle.
- You have enough Fighter Coins and have confirmed the coin price shown in your store.
There is no single best route without knowing which other Year 4 content you own and the prices displayed in your region. The reliable constant is that all three routes can provide Arjun’s character entitlement, while Outfit 2 remains a separate gauge or Fighter Coins unlock.
Quick Recap
Common mistakes to avoid
- Buying the add-on without the base game: The Arjun add-on requires Street Fighter 6; it is not a standalone game.
- Assuming a pass and Outfit 2 are the same purchase: Character access and the alternate costume have separate unlock conditions.
- Repeating one projectile height: Breathing Ring and Breathing Shockwave are designed to vary the ring’s height, so a single predictable trajectory gives the opponent an easier answer.
- Ignoring pillar timing: Divine Pillar’s distance and held-button delay are both part of the setup. Treating every version as identical removes much of its control value.
- Attempting Justice Beyond without an active pillar: Cruel Shoulder’s special interaction depends on contacting an active Divine Pillar.
- Using Ghastly Interrogation without checking recoverable damage: The normal-damage conversion requires the opponent to already have recoverable damage.
- Countering every attack with Indomitable Defence: Its described counter is for incoming melee attacks; using it without a read can surrender your turn.
