If the network blocks the site by IP address or traffic pattern, DNS will not help; Tor Browser may work where you are authorized to use it.
Use these methods only on a device and network you are allowed to configure. A school, employer, parent or guardian, ISP, or local law may prohibit bypassing an access restriction. You must also meet the legal age requirement for adult content where you live.
1. Try encrypted DNS first
DNS converts a domain name into an IP address. If your network blocks only the DNS lookup for XNXX, using a different resolver may restore access. It will not defeat an IP-address block, deep-packet inspection, account restriction, or the website’s own geographic or age controls.
Chrome on Windows, macOS, and Linux
- Open Chrome and select More (
⋮) → Settings. - Open Privacy and security → Security.
- Under Advanced, enable Use secure DNS.
- Select With, then choose Cloudflare (1.1.1.1).
Chrome can normally fall back to ordinary DNS when a secure lookup fails. Selecting a specific provider prevents that fallback, but an unavailable or misconfigured provider can produce a “server’s IP address couldn’t be found” error. Secure DNS may be unavailable on managed devices or where parental controls are enabled.

Firefox on desktop
- Select the menu button (
≡) → Settings. - Open Privacy & Security.
- Scroll to DNS over HTTPS and select Advanced Settings.
- Choose Increased Protection or Max Protection. If shown, select Cloudflare as the provider.
Firefox can disable or avoid DNS-over-HTTPS when it detects parental controls, managed settings, or a filtering DNS server. In its default fallback mode, it may return to the operating system’s DNS resolver if encrypted DNS fails.
Microsoft Edge
- Select Settings and more (
…) → Settings. - Open Privacy, search, and services.
- Scroll to Security and enable Use secure DNS.
- Select Choose a service provider, then choose Cloudflare (1.1.1.1). You can also select Enter custom provider.
Android
Android’s Private DNS setting accepts Cloudflare’s standard DNS hostname:
one.one.one.oneTo change it, open Settings, search for Private DNS, select Private DNS provider hostname, enter the hostname, and save. Menu names vary by Android manufacturer.
Cloudflare also recommends its official 1.1.1.1: Faster Internet app. Do not select family.cloudflare-dns.com for this purpose: that resolver is intended to filter malware and adult content.

- Open Settings → Wi-Fi.
- Tap the information button (
ⓘ) beside the connected network. - Tap Configure DNS → Manual.
- Add these servers:
1.1.1.1
1.0.0.1- Tap Save.
Manually assigned DNS can interfere with captive-portal Wi-Fi login pages. If hotel, airport, or public Wi-Fi will not show its sign-in page, remove the manual DNS entries or temporarily disable the DNS app until you finish logging in.
macOS
- Open System Settings → Network.
- Select the active connection, such as Wi-Fi.
- Select Details → DNS.
- Under DNS Servers, select Add and enter
1.1.1.1and1.0.0.1. - Select OK.
Windows: clear the old DNS result
After changing DNS on Windows, open Command Prompt and run:
ipconfig /flushdnsThen close and reopen the browser. To check whether Cloudflare is handling DNS, visit Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1 help page and look for Using DNS over HTTPS (DoH). A result of Yes confirms encrypted DNS is being used for that check.
2. Use Tor Browser if DNS does not work
If the page remains blocked after changing DNS, the network may be blocking the destination IP address or recognizing the traffic. Tor Browser routes its traffic through the Tor network and is designed to help users reach sites restricted by local censorship.
- Download Tor Browser from the official Tor Project website. Avoid apps claiming to be the official Tor Browser from unofficial stores or vendors.
- Install and open it.
- Select Connect.
- If it cannot connect, select Configure Connection.
Configure a bridge when Tor is blocked
- Open the hamburger menu (
≡) → Settings. - Select Connection.
- Under Bridges, choose a built-in bridge such as Snowflake.
- Alternatively, select Find more bridges → Request bridges.
- Complete the CAPTCHA, select Submit, and try connecting again.
Tor also provides bridges through the Tor Bridges website using Just give me bridges!, through the Telegram bot @GetBridgesBot with /obfs4 or /webtunnel, or by emailing bridges@torproject.org from a Gmail or Riseup address.
Tor connection problems
Check these common causes before changing more settings:

| Tor will not connect | Check the system clock and time zone. An incorrect clock can prevent connections. |
| Connection stops after enabling a VPN | Temporarily disable the VPN. VPN software can interfere with Tor. |
| A bridge will not work | Remove any configured proxy. Tor cannot use a bridge when a proxy is set. |
| Tor fails on Android | Do not run Tor Browser from an SD card. |
| Tor closes or pages behave strangely | Check antivirus and firewall rules, and make sure only one Tor Browser instance is running. |
Use the dedicated Tor Browser. Do not install extensions, configure another browser to “use Tor,” or assume Tor protects other apps on the device. Tor only routes traffic from applications configured to use it.
3. Fix pages that load but videos do not play
Tor Browser’s default Standard security level enables normal website features. The Safer and Safest levels restrict JavaScript, media, images, and other functionality, which can cause video pages to fail.

On Android:
- Open Tor Browser’s three-dot menu.
- Scroll to Privacy and security.
- Tap Security Level.
- Select Standard.
- Tap Save and restart.
Do not disable HTTPS protections just to make a page load. Tor Browser’s HTTPS-Only Mode upgrades connections to HTTPS where possible. Choosing Continue to HTTP Site accepts an unencrypted connection and is less safe.
What usually does not unblock the site
- Incognito mode: It limits some locally stored browsing data, but it does not hide your IP address or bypass a network-level block.
- Changing the homepage or search engine: This changes neither DNS resolution nor network routing.
- Entering
1.1.1.1or8.8.8.8in the address bar: These are DNS resolver addresses, not alternate website addresses. - Changing DNS against an IP or traffic-signature block: DNS only helps resolve a name; it does not tunnel the rest of the connection.
- Random free proxy sites: They can intercept traffic, inject advertising, collect browsing data, or deliver malicious downloads.
- Unofficial VPN or Tor apps: Modified apps may monitor traffic or contain malware. Download Tor Browser only from the Tor Project.
Privacy and safety limits
Tor can hide your source IP address from the destination site, but it does not provide perfect anonymity. Signing in, submitting an email address, or entering identifying information can connect the activity to you. Tor also does not protect other applications on the device.
Be cautious with downloaded documents: opening them in external software can cause connections outside Tor. Use HTTPS, do not enter personal or payment information on suspicious pages, and obtain software only from the vendor’s official website.

FAQ
Can changing DNS unblock XNXX?
Sometimes. Encrypted DNS can help when the block affects only DNS lookups. It will not bypass an IP-address block, deep-packet inspection, account restriction, or the site’s own age or geographic controls.
Is incognito mode enough to access a blocked site?
No. Incognito mode mainly limits local browsing history and related data. It does not change your DNS resolver, route traffic through another network, or hide your IP address.
Why does the page open in Tor Browser but the video does not play?
Tor Browser may be using the Safer or Safest security level, which restricts JavaScript and media. On Android, try Privacy and security → Security Level → Standard, then save and restart. Keep HTTPS protections enabled.
Is Tor Browser safe to download from any app store?
No. Download it from the official Tor Project website. Avoid unofficial apps claiming to be the official Tor Browser, and remember that Tor protects only traffic from Tor Browser—not every app on your device.
The Bottom Line
Start with encrypted DNS because it is quick and may fix a DNS-only block. If that fails and you are authorized to bypass the restriction, use the official Tor Browser and configure a Snowflake or other bridge if necessary. Avoid random proxy sites, unofficial apps, and disabling HTTPS protections.
