To turn up alert sounds, open Settings > Sounds & Haptics on your Apple Watch. Media playback and Siri have separate volume controls, so choose the steps below that match the sound you want to hear.
Turn up ringtones, alerts, alarms, and timers
- On your Apple Watch, open Settings.
- Tap Sounds & Haptics.
- Adjust the alert volume using the on-screen control. Apple’s instructions allow a manual setting up to 100%. Apple Watch User Guide: Change the audio settings.
On Apple Watch SE 3, Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Ultra 2, and later models running watchOS 26 or later, you can also use automatic alert-volume adjustment. Tap Level and choose Louder, Default, or Quieter. To set a constant volume instead, turn off Automatically Adjust Volume and adjust the manual control. Turn up music, podcasts, and other media
Media volume is separate from alert volume. While audio is playing on the watch, turn the Digital Crown to adjust it. Or press the side button to open Control Center, tap the volume button, and drag the slider. Apple Watch User Guide: Change the audio settings.
Turn up Siri’s voice
To change Siri’s volume just for its current response, turn the Digital Crown while Siri is speaking. To adjust Siri’s voice volume persistently, use either path:

- On Apple Watch: Settings > Siri > Siri Responses > Voice Volume.
- On iPhone: open the Apple Watch app, then tap My Watch > Siri > Siri Responses.

If alerts still seem quiet
- Check Control Center for Silent Mode. It silences alerts, although haptic notifications may still arrive. Apple Watch User Guide: Change the audio settings.
- Check whether Do Not Disturb is on, then review the alert setting under Settings > Sounds & Haptics. Apple Support: Use Control Center on your Apple Watch.
- If the setting appears correct, restart the watch and check the volume again.
- For Apple Watch Series 10 or later, Apple advises gently clearing debris from the speaker port with a soft-bristle brush. Keep this model limitation in mind; the cleaning advice does not apply to earlier models. Apple Support: If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your Apple Watch.
Use headphones for private media listening
You can pair Bluetooth headphones or speakers with Apple Watch for media playback. When listening through headphones, adjust their volume from Control Center. For a headphone listening limit, open Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Headphone Safety > Reduce Loud Sounds.
