On an Xbox console: press the Xbox button, open Profile & system > Settings > Preferences > Notifications, then disable the notification category carrying the streak reminder. On Windows, use Settings > System > Notifications and switch off the sender shown on the alert, such as Xbox or Xbox Game Bar. If the reminder comes from the Xbox app or Microsoft Rewards, change that app’s own notification settings instead.
There is no universally documented, streak-only switch for every Xbox dashboard, app build, or region. The reliable fix is to identify which product generated the alert and mute that channel. Turning off an alert should suppress the message, not delete or reset the underlying Rewards activity or streak.
First identify where the reminder comes from
“Xbox streak notification” can describe several different alerts. A console dashboard message, a Windows toast from the Xbox app, a Game Bar overlay, and a Microsoft Rewards reminder may look related while using separate controls. Before changing settings, note where the alert appears and, if possible, the sender name displayed on it.

If you can expand the notification, read its title and sender. That name tells you whether to change the console shell, Windows, Game Bar, Xbox app, or Rewards settings. Muting one source does not automatically mute another source signed in to the same Microsoft account.

Turn off the alert on an Xbox console
Microsoft documents the console notification area for both Xbox One and Xbox Series dashboard layouts. Xbox’s published wording in an Xbox Wire product announcement dated September 11, 2024 is: “You can also update your notification preferences on Xbox consoles from Settings > Preferences > Notifications.” The exact categories displayed can change with dashboard updates, account features, and region.
- Press the Xbox button on the controller to open the guide.
- Move to Profile & system.
- Select Settings.
- Open Preferences, then choose Notifications.
- Review the categories and senders listed on your console. Turn off the category that contains the streak reminder.
- If there is no category named Streak, Rewards, or Reminder, disable the broader Xbox app or Rewards category that appears to own the message.
Some dashboards expose separate switches for different notification types. Others group several alerts under one app or service. Do not assume that the absence of a streak-specific label means the setting is broken; the alert may be included in a wider category.
When the console offers only broad categories
Use the narrowest available category first. For example, if the list contains a Rewards-related group, disable that before turning off every Xbox notification. A broad switch may also hide party, achievement, download, or social alerts that you still want.
After changing the setting, wait for a new reminder or trigger a harmless test notification from the same source. Existing messages already in the notification area may remain visible until dismissed; that does not mean the new preference failed. Sign out and back in only if the dashboard does not refresh the setting after a normal navigation cycle.

Stop Xbox streak alerts in Windows 11 or Windows 10
Windows controls notifications per sender. Microsoft’s documented instruction is to disable notifications for a specific app when you no longer want to receive them. Use the sender shown on the alert rather than guessing which Xbox component produced it.
- Open Start > Settings.
- In Windows 11, select System > Notifications. Windows 10 uses the same System > Notifications area, although the surrounding layout may differ slightly.
- Under notifications from apps and other senders, find Xbox, Xbox Game Bar, or the exact sender named in the toast.
- Select that sender to open its detailed controls.
- Turn notifications off to suppress all alerts from that sender, or leave the main switch on and change only the individual behaviors you do not want.
If the sender is not listed, wait until the next alert and inspect its expanded details. The app may not have delivered a notification recently, may use a different display name, or may be signed in under another Windows account.
Mute only banners, notification-center entries, or sounds
Windows lets you keep an app’s notification permission while reducing how intrusive it is. In the sender’s settings, clear one or more of these options:

- Show notification banners prevents the pop-up toast from appearing over your desktop.
- Show notifications in notification center keeps the alert out of the notification list.
- Play a sound stops the notification tone while leaving visual delivery enabled if the other options remain on.
This partial approach is useful when you want to retain important Xbox messages but do not want a streak reminder interrupting a game or meeting. It does not identify individual message types inside a sender unless that sender exposes its own categories.

Game Bar placement is a separate setting
An alert that appears inside the gaming overlay may be controlled by Xbox Game Bar rather than by a normal desktop banner. Press Win+G, open the Settings widget, choose More settings > General, and adjust the notification-placement option shown there.
Placement changes where Game Bar presents an alert; it does not necessarily suppress the alert. For complete Windows suppression, also use Settings > System > Notifications and turn off the Xbox Game Bar sender or its banner, notification-center, and sound options.
Check the Xbox app or Microsoft Rewards
A streak reminder can be generated by the Xbox app or Microsoft Rewards instead of the console shell. App interfaces are not identical across Windows, Android, iOS, account types, and regions, and Microsoft does not publish one stable page documenting a dedicated streak-notification switch for every version.
- Open the app that appears to own the reminder.
- Open its account, profile, menu, or settings area.
- Look for Notifications, Rewards, Streak, or Reminder.
- Disable the relevant alert if your build exposes one.
- If the app has no matching control, use the operating system’s notification settings for that app.
On a phone, the operating-system path varies by version. Android commonly places per-app controls under the app’s entry in system settings; iOS commonly places them under the app in notification settings. Those systems can stop all app notifications or limit banners, sounds, badges, and lock-screen display, but they cannot create a streak-specific switch that the app itself does not provide.
Do not treat an absent toggle as proof that no setting exists anywhere. First check the sender inside the alert, then the app’s current account and notification screens, and finally the device-level app permission. Labels and availability can differ by region and app release.
Why reminders can continue after you turn notifications off
You muted the wrong sender
The most common cause is changing the Xbox console setting while the reminder is actually coming from the Windows Xbox app, Game Bar, or Microsoft Rewards. Compare the sender name on a new alert with the entry you disabled. Each platform and app can require its own change.
You disabled banners but not other delivery methods
A banner can disappear while the same reminder remains in notification center, plays a sound, or appears in the Game Bar overlay. Reopen the sender’s detailed Windows settings and check each presentation option. If you want no Windows delivery, use the sender’s main notification switch.

Moving a Game Bar alert to another location can make it seem gone during ordinary desktop use while leaving it active in the overlay. Use the Windows sender switch for suppression; use Game Bar’s placement control only to decide where an allowed alert appears.

An old alert is still displayed
Changing a preference does not necessarily erase messages already delivered. Dismiss the existing item and observe whether a newly generated reminder appears. A stale notification is not evidence that the current preference is being ignored.
More than one device or app is signed in
Muting Xbox on a console does not automatically change Windows or mobile permissions. A phone, PC, and console can each deliver their own copy. Apply the setting on every device where the reminder appears, and check whether the apps use the same Microsoft account.
The app changed its categories after an update
Dashboard and app updates can rename or regroup notification categories. Revisit the relevant settings after an update and select the new broader category if a dedicated streak label disappears. Do not enable unrelated categories merely because their names sound similar.
Can you mute the reminder without losing the streak?
Suppressing a notification channel is different from changing Rewards activity. Turning off a console, Windows, Game Bar, or app alert should prevent that delivery channel from displaying the reminder; it is not a command to delete, reset, or pause the underlying streak. Continue completing whatever activity the service requires if maintaining the streak matters to you.

Because reminder eligibility and streak rules can change independently of notification preferences, treat the alert as a prompt rather than as the record of your activity. Check the Rewards or account page when you need to verify progress instead of re-enabling every notification.
Choose the least disruptive setting

How to restore notifications
If you later want reminders back, reverse the same change on the device that delivered the alert. On Xbox, return to Profile & system > Settings > Preferences > Notifications and re-enable the category. In Windows, open Settings > System > Notifications, select Xbox or Xbox Game Bar, and turn notifications on; also restore banners, notification-center display, or sound if you disabled them individually. In the Xbox or Rewards app, re-enable the relevant option if that build provides one.
Restoring a permission may not recreate an alert that was sent while notifications were disabled. It controls future delivery, not necessarily past reminders.

- Capture the sender name and the device where the alert appeared.
- Check the matching platform first: console settings for a dashboard alert, Windows settings for a desktop toast, Game Bar settings for an overlay, and app settings for a mobile or in-app reminder.
- Look for a dedicated streak or Rewards category, but use the broader matching category when no dedicated switch exists.
- For Windows, decide whether you want full suppression or only no banners, no notification-center entries, or no sounds.
- After changing a setting, dismiss old alerts and judge the result using a new notification.
- Repeat the change on other devices if the same account receives reminders in more than one place.
- Recheck after dashboard or app updates because category names and availability can change.
What the settings do not change
These controls govern presentation of notifications. They do not alter your Xbox profile, remove the Rewards account, change eligibility rules, or provide a way to edit the streak itself. If your concern is a missing or incorrect streak rather than an unwanted reminder, use the account or Rewards activity view; notification preferences cannot repair activity records.
