There is no documented in-game switch that removes sexual content from Persona 3 Reload, Persona 4 Golden, or Persona 5 Royal. Sexual themes, partial nudity, suggestive enemy designs, and related dialogue are built into each title’s rated package. On consoles, family settings can block access to an M-rated game but cannot censor selected scenes. On PC, an unofficial Persona 5 Royal mod can reduce some visual nudity, but it is not a complete filter and does not remove every sexual reference or theme.
What you can and cannot disable
The three modern Persona releases covered here do not document a sexual-content, nudity, or censorship setting in their normal menus. You cannot open Options and switch off only sexual scenes while keeping the rest of the story, combat, and social systems intact.

The practical choices are therefore limited:
- Accept the game’s complete rated package after checking the rating summary for your exact edition.
- Use a console family restriction to prevent a child account from launching an M-rated title. This blocks access to the game rather than editing its content.
- Use an unofficial PC mod in Persona 5 Royal to reduce some visible nudity. This is a community modification, not an Atlus or platform feature, and it does not guarantee removal of sexual dialogue, themes, or every image.
- Choose another game if complete avoidance is required.
That distinction matters: a parental-control lock is an access control, while a content filter changes what appears after the game starts. None of the reviewed Persona editions provides the latter officially.
What the ESRB ratings include
ESRB summaries identify sexual material as one part of a broader Mature 17+ rating. They are useful for deciding whether the complete game is appropriate, but they do not describe a switch that can be toggled off.
#1 Best Overall
| Game | ESRB rating descriptors | Examples described in the rating summary |
|---|---|---|
| Persona 3 Reload | Mature 17+ for blood, partial nudity, sexual themes, strong language, and violence | Female demons with partially exposed breasts and buttocks, a phallic-shaped creature, and sexual characteristics in demon descriptions |
| Persona 4 Golden | Mature 17+ for alcohol reference, language, mild blood, partial nudity, sexual themes, and violence | Exposed breasts and buttocks, a phallic-shaped creature, a gyrating pole-dancer enemy, and sexual descriptions for succubus and incubus demons |
| Persona 5 Royal | Mature 17+ for blood, drug reference, partial nudity, sexual themes, strong language, and violence | Exposed breasts, phallic imagery, sexual descriptions for Personas, and sexual references in dialogue |
The rating summaries describe content present in the shipped games. They do not establish that any of those elements can be disabled independently. Ratings and store listings can vary by region and edition, so check the listing for the precise release you intend to buy.
Persona 3 Reload: is there a safe-mode or censor setting?
No documented setting in Persona 3 Reload removes sexual content. Its mature rating includes partial nudity and sexual themes alongside violence, blood, and strong language. Some material is visual, such as demon designs; other material appears in descriptions, conversations, or the wider story. A setting that removed only one category would not address all of those forms, and the game does not provide one.
If a younger player will use a console copy
- Read the ESRB summary for the exact Persona 3 Reload edition and region before purchasing or installing it.
- Create or use a child account on the console rather than sharing an unrestricted adult account.
- Open the console’s family, parental-control, or family-management area and set the allowed game-rating level below Mature 17+.
- Require an adult passcode for purchases and for changing the rating limit.
- Test the child account. The expected result is that the account cannot launch or obtain the restricted game; scenes are not selectively removed from an account that can launch it.
Menu names and rating scales differ between PlayStation, Xbox, and other platforms. Use the controls on the specific console, and treat the result as a complete game restriction rather than a scene filter.

Persona 4 Golden: can sexual content be filtered?
No. Persona 4 Golden has no documented sexual-content filter or nudity toggle. The ESRB summary lists partial nudity and sexual themes and notes exposed body parts, a phallic-shaped creature, a gyrating pole-dancer enemy, and sexual descriptions associated with succubus and incubus demons.
Because the material is distributed across enemy art, descriptions, and story dialogue, disabling one visual asset would not make the game free of sexual content. A console’s family controls can stop an account from accessing an M-rated game, but they cannot remove those scenes while leaving the rest playable.
What to check before buying
- Confirm whether the store listing is for Persona 4 Golden rather than another Persona edition.
- Read every descriptor, not only the age number. Sexual themes and partial nudity are separate descriptors from violence and language.
- Check whether the account that will play the game is governed by a family-rating limit.
- If the player must avoid sexual references completely, do not rely on a parental-control setting as a substitute for choosing a different title.
Persona 5 Royal: does a censor setting exist?
Persona 5 Royal also has no documented built-in censor mode. Its ESRB rating covers blood, drug reference, partial nudity, sexual themes, strong language, and violence. The rating summary specifically mentions exposed breasts, phallic imagery, sexual descriptions for Personas, and sexual references in dialogue.

- New characters and confidants
- new story elements with a new semester at shujin Academy
- new story Arc, cutscenes and alternate endings
- new locations to explore
- new gameplay mechanics like the grappling hooknew personasexplore and customize your own personal Thieves Den
That means the answer to “Can I disable nudity but keep the rest of Persona 5 Royal?” is only partially yes on PC, and only through an unofficial modification. The official console versions do not offer a comparable switch.
Console options: restrict access, not individual scenes
On PlayStation, Xbox, and other supported console editions, family-management tools are designed to manage who can use a game. They do not rewrite the game’s files or skip individual conversations.
General setup procedure
- Identify the child or supervised account that should be restricted.
- Open the console’s Family, Parental Controls, or Family Management settings.
- Set the permitted game-content rating below the Mature 17+ level, or block the specific title if the platform offers title-level controls.
- Protect the setting with a passcode that the child does not know.
- Restrict purchases or require approval for downloads, then sign in as the child account to verify the block.
Depending on the platform, the control may prevent launching, downloading, or purchasing the game. It will not hide a single demon, line of dialogue, costume, or cutscene inside an otherwise permitted copy.

PC option: the unofficial Persona 5 Royal “Less Nudity” mod
Persona 5 Royal’s PC version has a community modding ecosystem. ShrineFox’s documentation, updated August 20, 2025, explains that the Switch and PC ports are commonly modded and describes loading mods with Reloaded-II. A GameBanana project named Less Nudity for Persona 5 Royal (PC) says it removes most nudity and can be customized.
This option has narrower coverage than its name may imply:

What installing a mod involves
- Use the PC edition of Persona 5 Royal and make a backup of your save files.
- Read the current ShrineFox Reloaded-II documentation for the supported game build and loader requirements.
- Install the loader according to that documentation, then place the Less Nudity mod in the loader’s mod directory or import it through the loader’s interface, as instructed by the current release.
- Enable only the mod you intend to test and launch the game through the mod loader.
- Check several areas of the game, including menus, battles, Persona screens, and story scenes. A mod that changes selected models may not affect every context.
- Disable or remove the mod if the game crashes, displays missing textures, or behaves unexpectedly. Restore the clean files or verify the game installation through the store client before troubleshooting further.
Exact loader menus and compatibility can change as the game, operating system, or mod is updated. Follow the documentation shipped with the current release rather than an old video or reposted guide.
Best Value

Risks and trade-offs of the PC route
- Coverage risk: reducing visible nudity does not remove sexual language, themes, or references.
- Compatibility risk: a game update can break a mod or require a newer loader.
- Save risk: keep backups before changing files, especially if multiple mods are installed.
- Support risk: platform support teams may not troubleshoot unofficial modifications.
- Account and distribution risk: install only files from a source you trust and review the current project instructions before running them.
Which approach fits your requirement?
| Requirement | Best available approach | Coverage and reliability |
|---|---|---|
| Prevent a child from playing an M-rated Persona game | Console or account family restrictions | High for access control; does not alter scenes |
| Remove some visible nudity from Persona 5 Royal on PC | Unofficial Less Nudity mod with Reloaded-II | Partial visual reduction; community-maintained and not guaranteed complete |
| Remove sexual dialogue, themes, descriptions, and imagery across all three games | No documented built-in option | Not available as a reliable official filter |
| Guarantee complete avoidance | Choose a different game | The only dependable way to avoid relying on incomplete controls or mods |
A practical decision checklist for parents and buyers
- Name the material that must be avoided. Is the concern nudity only, or also sexual jokes, dialogue, demon descriptions, suggestive designs, and themes?
- Match the concern to the platform. Console controls can block the whole game. The documented visual-reduction mod is for Persona 5 Royal PC, not a universal Persona solution.
- Read the exact rating summary. Persona 3 Reload, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal all carry Mature 17+ descriptors that include sexual material.
- Decide whether partial mitigation is acceptable. If any remaining reference is unacceptable, a nudity-reduction mod is insufficient.
- Use account restrictions when the goal is supervision. A child account and an adult-held passcode are more reliable than asking a game to hide content it was not designed to filter.
- Recheck after updates. Store editions, platform controls, and community-mod compatibility can change.
Troubleshooting common misunderstandings
“I lowered the console age rating, so the game should be censored.”
The rating limit normally blocks the account from accessing the title. It does not create a censored version. If an unrestricted account can still launch the game, review which account is signed in and whether the family setting applies to purchases, downloads, and play time separately.
“A nudity mod means the story is safe.”
Not necessarily. The listed Persona 5 Royal mod targets visual nudity. Sexual references in dialogue, descriptions, character interactions, and themes can remain even when selected models or textures change.
“A mod works in Persona 5 Royal, so it should work in Persona 3 Reload or Persona 4 Golden.”
Mod compatibility is title- and version-specific. The documented project is for Persona 5 Royal PC; do not assume it supports another Persona game or a different platform.
Recommended Free Tools
“The rating mentions partial nudity, so only a few optional scenes are affected.”
The summaries describe examples across character or demon designs, imagery, descriptions, and dialogue. They do not define the material as an optional branch that can be skipped with one menu setting.
Bottom line
Persona 3 Reload, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal do not document an official sexual-content toggle. Console parental controls can keep a child account from accessing an M-rated game, but they cannot remove selected scenes. Persona 5 Royal on PC has an unofficial mod that can reduce some nudity, with no guarantee that it removes all sexual content. If complete avoidance is essential, select a different game rather than depending on an undocumented filter or a partial community mod.
