Samsung washer sound controls vary by model: look for a labeled Sound or Alarm Off control, a sound option in the panel settings, or a supported setting in SmartThings. Start with your washer’s exact model manual; if it contains no instructions for turning sounds off, Samsung says that model does not support the feature.
Find the sound control for your washer
There is no button sequence that works across every Samsung washing machine. The control might be a dedicated button, a secondary function, a panel-menu option, or an app setting. Match the instructions to your washer’s model, panel and regional manual rather than trying a combination at random.
- Check the panel for a dedicated control. Look for Sound, Alarm Off, Sound Off, or a crossed-speaker or bell icon. Some models have a dedicated Sound or Alarm Off button, according to Samsung Canada.
- Check for a secondary function. Depending on the model, sound control may be printed as a secondary label on Super Speed, Alarm Off, Extra Rinse, or Temp. Samsung US and Canada say to hold the relevant button for three seconds when the model uses a secondary button function. Use the label and instructions for your own washer; these buttons are not interchangeable across models. See Samsung US’s sound-control guidance and Samsung Canada’s guidance.
- Look in the panel settings if your washer has a screen or menu. Use the sequence for your particular panel family below; Samsung’s regional instructions differ.
- Check SmartThings if your washer supports sound controls there. Open the washer’s appliance card and scroll down for a Sounds switch, volume slider, or end-of-cycle alarm choice. The available control depends on the model.
Use the panel sequence that matches your model
AI Panel: Samsung UK instructions
For the AI Panel models covered by Samsung UK’s instructions, hold Options for five seconds, turn the dial to Alarm settings, then press the O control to toggle the alarm. Samsung says the chosen setting remains in effect after restarting the washing machine. These steps apply to the models described in the UK instructions, not automatically to every AI Panel washer.

For the LED Panel models covered by Samsung UK, hold Spin and Options together for five seconds, then check the alarm indicator. Follow the indicator and model manual to confirm the current setting. AI Panel: Samsung India instructions
Samsung India describes a different AI Panel route: hold the option control for three seconds, use the Navigation dial to choose Alarm, then select On or Off. Samsung says the setting remains after restarting the washer. This regional guidance, last updated 2024-08-30, is specific to the models it covers: Samsung India’s sound-notification instructions.
Screen-equipped Bespoke models
On supported screen-equipped Bespoke models, open Settings and look for Sounds. Depending on the washer, this menu may offer Sound mode, Sound theme, and Volume rather than a single alarm toggle. Adjust sound in SmartThings, if the option is available
Connect the washer to SmartThings, open its appliance card, and scroll down to its sound controls. A supported model may show a switch to turn sounds on or off, a volume slider, or an option to select an end-of-cycle alarm. A slider changes volume; a switch toggles sound. Not every connected washer offers these controls. If no sound setting appears, try the washer’s panel or check its exact-model manual, as advised by Samsung US and Samsung Canada.

Know which sounds may remain
Turning off an alarm or sound setting may silence the cycle-completion melody and the power-off sound; supported models may also mute AddWash alarms. It does not necessarily silence every sound:

- Samsung UK says button sounds remain on when using the alarm toggle described in its instructions.
- Samsung India notes that Child Lock notifications remain active.
- Samsung’s Laundry Combo manual says Mute does not turn off alert sounds retained for safety purposes.

If the sound option is missing
- Check the user manual for your exact model and market. Samsung says that when the manual has no instructions for turning off sounds, the model does not have that feature: Samsung US sound-control guidance.
- Confirm that you are checking the right control surface. Some washers use a panel button, others a menu, and some supported models offer an app control.
- Do not assume that a button sequence from another country or panel type applies to your washer. The UK and India AI Panel instructions, for example, use different steps.
- If you have changed the setting and want sound back, use the same control or menu to toggle it on. For restart persistence, Samsung explicitly confirms it for the UK and India examples above; check your own manual for other models.
