1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTo tune DLSS 5, use the game’s DLSS Neural Rendering option if it is available, then compare the same scene with the effect on and off. Keep resolution and other graphics settings fixed while testing. DLSS 5 intensity and masking controls are described by NVIDIA as developer tools, not universal player-facing sliders.
How do I turn DLSS 5 on or off?
Look in the game’s graphics or video settings for DLSS Neural Rendering. NVIDIA says DLSS 5 is optional, but a game must implement it and expose the setting for you to toggle it. Menu locations and availability vary by title.
NVIDIA’s FAQ, updated September 3, 2026, lists local support for GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs and laptops, as well as GeForce NOW Ultimate streaming from RTX 5080 rigs. The FAQ says DLSS 5 became available in NBA 2K27 on September 3 at 9 PM Pacific; check current game support because availability can change. NVIDIA’s DLSS 5 FAQ has the current compatibility details.
What settings improve DLSS image quality?
Start with a repeatable comparison rather than changing several options at once. Choose a scene with fine detail, faces or materials, and noticeable lighting; use the same camera position and motion for each pass.

- AI Performance: 630 AI TOPS
- OC Edition: 2595 MHz OC mode, 2565 MHz default mode
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4.
- SFF-Ready Enthusiast GeForce Card.
- Axial-tech fans feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- Record your usual resolution and graphics settings, and note performance in the selected scene.
- Toggle DLSS Neural Rendering off and on, leaving other settings unchanged.
- Compare fine textures and edges, faces and materials, lighting and color, temporal stability during motion, and visible artifacts.
- Keep the setting that looks acceptable while meeting your performance needs. If the image changes in a way you dislike, test other DLSS options separately rather than changing them at the same time.
NVIDIA describes two intensity controls in its FAQ: Structure Intensity affects high-frequency detail, including ambient occlusion, contact shadows, and subsurface scattering; Tone Intensity affects lower-frequency lighting and color response. The FAQ also describes automatic object masking and developer-controlled per-pixel masking. These are artistic controls developers can use, not settings every player can adjust. As a result, implementations can differ by game.
What is the difference between DLSS Neural Rendering and DLSS Super Resolution?
They address different parts of rendering. NVIDIA says DLSS 5 can work alongside Super Resolution, Frame Generation, and Ray Reconstruction; it is not a replacement name for those options. NVIDIA’s DLSS overview describes the feature categories.

- Axial-tech fans now feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- 2.5-slot design allows for greater build compatibility while maintaining cooling performance
- 0dB technology lets you enjoy light gaming in relative silence
- Dual BIOS switch lets you toggle between Quiet and Performance BIOS profiles
- Dual ball fan bearings last up to twice as long as sleeve bearing designs
| Feature | Purpose | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| DLSS Neural Rendering (DLSS 5) | Enhances rendered lighting and materials using neural rendering. | Compare the game’s on/off setting in the same scene; developer controls may not be exposed to players. |
| Super Resolution | Reconstructs a higher-resolution output from a lower-resolution input. | Test the available quality mode or input scaling separately from DLSS 5. |
| Frame Generation | Creates additional frames to improve displayed smoothness. | Assess responsiveness as well as visual smoothness; NVIDIA says Frame Generation works with Reflex. |
| Ray Reconstruction | Improves reconstruction of ray-traced images and replaces traditional hand-tuned denoisers. | Test it independently in ray-traced or path-traced scenes; performance impact depends on workload. |
| DLAA | Uses the Super Resolution approach at native resolution for anti-aliasing. | Evaluate edge quality at native resolution; it is not a lower-resolution upscaling mode. |
How should I tune Super Resolution scaling?
Super Resolution input resolution is a player-side image-quality and performance lever when the game or NVIDIA App exposes it. NVIDIA gives example input scaling values of 67% for Quality, 50% for Performance, and 33% for Ultra Performance. These are mode examples, not DLSS 5 intensity values or guarantees of a particular frame-rate gain. Lower input resolution can improve performance, but may reduce detail or stability.
If the game provides NVIDIA App overrides, NVIDIA says its app supports preset and custom input scaling. Change one scaling option at a time and compare the same scene. NVIDIA’s article on DLSS overrides in the NVIDIA App explains the available override approach.

Does DLSS 5 lower FPS?
The cited NVIDIA materials do not establish a universal DLSS 5 frame-rate cost or gain, and they do not provide independent game-specific DLSS 5 benchmarks. The result can depend on the game and hardware, so measure your own scene with the same resolution and graphics settings instead of assuming a fixed performance change.
Keep Frame Generation distinct from that comparison: it creates additional output frames, so check responsiveness separately from displayed smoothness. Ray Reconstruction also needs its own test. NVIDIA says it can improve performance when it replaces several costly denoisers, while in less intensive ray-traced games it may carry a slight cost. The workload matters. NVIDIA’s August 25, 2026 article on DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction reports a model with 35% more compute capability and 20% more parameters; those are NVIDIA-reported model comparisons, not independent measurements or DLSS 5 benchmark results.
