Yes. ChatGPT can create a virtual image preview of clothing or accessories on you: choose Try on on a product listing, then take or upload a selfie. You can also upload an item’s image in a conversation and ask ChatGPT to show how it could look on you. The result is an image preview—not a measurement or a reliable way to determine fit or size.
How ChatGPT’s virtual try-on works
OpenAI announced the feature in its October 1, 2026 release notes. It uses ChatGPT Images to generate a preview based on a reference photo of you and a clothing or accessory item. OpenAI describes the aim as showing how an item could look on you; it does not describe the image as a product photograph or fitting-room simulation.
Start from a product listing
- Open a product listing in ChatGPT and select Try on.
- Take a selfie or upload one when prompted.
- View the generated try-on image.
Start with an image you provide
You can also upload an image of clothing or an accessory in a ChatGPT conversation and ask ChatGPT to show how it could look on you. This is a separate documented route from selecting Try on on a product listing.
What the preview can—and cannot—tell you
OpenAI warns: “Try-on images may not represent the product or your appearance exactly and do not guarantee fit or size.” Treat the image as a visual aid for exploring an item, not as evidence that it will fit or look exactly the same in person. OpenAI does not promise exact color, drape, or appearance.

Before buying, check the merchant’s product details and measurements, and read its return policy. Those details—not the generated image—are the useful basis for judging size and deciding what to do if an item is unsuitable.
What happens to your selfie
OpenAI says your reference photo is saved for future try-ons. To change or delete it, go to Settings → Personalization → Reference photos. If you do not want a reference photo retained for future try-ons, use those controls to remove it.

Finding products and completing a purchase
ChatGPT shopping results can include product imagery, details, and links to merchants. OpenAI says product results are independently selected by ChatGPT and are not ads or influenced by OpenAI partnerships; ads are separate from those results.
A product listing is not a guarantee that you can buy the item inside ChatGPT. Some eligible products and merchants may offer Instant Checkout, while others link out to the merchant. Check the listing for the available purchase option, then review the merchant’s details and terms before ordering. OpenAI’s general product-discovery work includes visual browsing and product comparisons, but that does not establish that a particular fashion retailer—or Amazon—is integrated with virtual try-on.

Where the feature is available
OpenAI says virtual try-on is available in ChatGPT on mobile and web. Its published guidance does not specify country-by-country coverage or which subscription plans are eligible, so availability for a particular account or location cannot be inferred from the platform announcement alone.

OpenAI says you can save products to Favorites or organize them in folders in ChatGPT Library. These are ways to keep track of listings; they do not change what the generated preview can establish about fit or product accuracy.
