To troubleshoot an Oracle Cloud Applications integration, first identify where it fails—design time, activation, runtime, authentication, connectivity, schedule, or event/callback delivery—then use the Oracle Integration or Fusion Applications diagnostic view that matches that failure. Capture the exact error and affected integration before changing settings: a 401, a missing Fusion business event, and a service-discovery error point to different checks, and the right fix depends on the adapter and Oracle Integration generation.
Capture the failure, then classify it
Before editing credentials, mappings, or endpoints, record enough detail to reproduce and locate the failure. This incident workflow is a practical way to make Oracle’s diagnostic screens and error-specific guidance useful:
- Integration name and version, application, and adapter.
- Timestamp and time zone, trigger or invoke direction, and run or instance identifier, if available.
- The complete HTTP or SOAP error and where it appeared.
- Recent changes to credentials, URLs, WSDLs, security policies, or network configuration.
- Whether every message fails or only particular payloads do.
Next, select the branch that matches the failure boundary. Oracle’s Oracle Integration 3 troubleshooting guide organizes guidance for OAuth, connectivity agents, private endpoints, runtime, design time, scheduled integrations, and activation. Follow the specific branch for the error rather than treating every integration problem as a credential or mapping issue.
Choose the diagnostic route by symptom
| Failure type | Start here | What to establish |
|---|---|---|
| Design-time discovery or activation | Oracle Integration troubleshooting guidance and the relevant adapter guide | Whether the connection tests, what the exact discovery or activation error says, and whether it names a catalog, REST API, SOAP service, or security issue. |
| Runtime invocation | The failed instance and the runtime troubleshooting branch | The adapter response and whether the failure involves authentication, endpoint reachability, mapping, protocol behavior, or a service limit. The precise error determines which cause is relevant. |
| 401 or other authentication failure | Compare the service connection’s authentication with the trigger or invoke security configuration | Whether the configured authentication types are compatible; for Integration 3 catalog retrieval through Integration Applications, whether OAuth is configured. |
| Agent or private-endpoint connectivity | The dedicated connectivity-agent or private-endpoint troubleshooting branch | Agent or endpoint health and the network path between Oracle Integration and the target. |
| Scheduled integration | Schedule configuration and the scheduled integration’s future runs in the current observability interface | Whether the schedule is configured as intended and whether a run was created. Menus can vary by Oracle Integration release. |
| Missing Fusion event or ERP callback | Fusion Applications event diagnostics or the ERP Adapter guidance, depending on the flow | Event subscription and delivery status, callback configuration, URL, authentication, and adapter generation. |
For a 401, compare both sides of the security configuration
A 401 from an Oracle Integration REST trigger can occur when the client or service connection’s authentication settings do not match the security configured on the trigger. Compare the authentication types at both ends before rotating credentials or changing unrelated settings. Oracle documents this mismatch as a cause in its Oracle Integration 3 known-issues guide.

There is a separate Integration 3 constraint for retrieving a catalog through Integration Applications: Oracle says OAuth is required there, and Basic Authentication fails. Do not generalize that catalog-specific requirement to every Oracle Integration connection; check the exact operation and security policy involved.
For a missing Fusion business event, check delivery diagnostics
Oracle Integration’s self-diagnostic feature can show configured applications, event subscriptions, and failed-message details for event-based flows using the Oracle ERP Cloud Adapter or Oracle CX Sales and B2B Service Adapter with Basic Authentication or OAuth security policies. In Fusion Applications, the diagnostics navigation option is visible only to users with the ServiceAdministrator role. A connection appears in the view only when it uses a supported adapter, is configured, and has a trigger or trigger-and-invoke role; invoke-only connections are not supported. See Oracle’s event diagnostics guide for the feature and its eligibility rules.

- Open the Fusion Applications event diagnostics view with an account that has the required role.
- Locate the application and subscription associated with the integration.
- Inspect the event’s status—such as queued, delivered, retried, or retry-limit status where shown—and open failed-message details for the recorded error.
- Use the diagnostic result to determine whether the failure is within Fusion Applications or later in the delivery path.
Oracle states that “When business events are not delivered to Oracle Integration, self-diagnosis typically indicates that the error occurred within Oracle Fusion Applications boundaries.” This guidance concerns event-delivery self-diagnosis, not every kind of integration failure. If the diagnostics point to a problem inside Fusion Applications, Oracle advises opening a Fusion Applications service request and including the relevant error messages.
For ERP callbacks, verify the callback setup and the documentation generation
The cited Oracle ERP Cloud Adapter guide covers Oracle Integration Generation 2. Its callback details are useful for understanding the documented behavior, but its UI labels and instructions should not be assumed to apply unchanged to Integration 3. Check the documentation for the tenant’s generation before following version-specific steps. The source is Oracle’s Using the Oracle ERP Cloud Adapter with Oracle Integration Generation 2.

For an FBDI callback that does not arrive, inspect the invoking integration’s adapter response configuration and the callback authentication details. The Generation 2 guide describes the callback as business-event-based; it also says that modifying the ERP connection URL and reactivating the integration resubscribes it. Authentication failure can appear as “Failed at Trigger” or as no arriving events. Use those symptoms to guide investigation, not as proof that the same cause applies to every callback failure.
For service-discovery errors, separate REST from SOAP
REST discovery
If ERP adapter REST discovery reports an error, check whether the same error occurs outside Oracle Integration. The Generation 2 adapter guide says that a corresponding external error may indicate that REST APIs are not enabled on the application. Establish that condition before changing the integration itself.

SOAP service discovery
For SOAP service-discovery errors, inspect the application’s service catalog entries. A missing or unsuitable catalog entry is a different problem from a failed runtime SOAP invocation.

One release-specific caveat appears in Oracle’s Integration 3 known-issues guide dated September 25, 2026: design-time endpoint creation may fail for certain SOAP business objects when a private endpoint is enabled on ERP, HCM, or CX adapters. The note does not provide a workaround, so avoid assuming that a generic connectivity change will resolve this particular case.
Quick Recap
Which Oracle diagnostic source should you use?
| Diagnostic source | Best suited to | Constraint | Inspect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oracle Integration troubleshooting guide | Initial triage across authentication, agent, endpoint, runtime, design time, schedules, and activation | Integration 3 guidance; confirm the tenant release and current menu labels | The matching error category and its procedure |
| Fusion Applications event diagnostics | Missing or failed Fusion business-event delivery | ServiceAdministrator visibility; supported ERP/CX adapters and trigger roles only | Subscription, delivery state, failed-message details, and indicated application boundary |
| ERP Cloud Adapter guide | ERP callbacks, FBDI callback behavior, and REST/SOAP discovery | Cited guide is for Generation 2; validate against Integration 3 documentation | Callback configuration, URL/subscription, authentication, REST API enablement, and service catalog |
| SOAP Adapter troubleshooting | SOAP-specific SSL/TLS, WSDL, private-endpoint, action, or policy faults | Match the adapter version and exact fault | The corresponding adapter-specific topic, not generic configuration changes |
Turn the diagnosis into the next action
- If the error is at design time, use the adapter-specific discovery or activation guidance and verify that the external API or service catalog is available where relevant.
- If a run exists and failed, keep its identifier and exact adapter response with the incident; use the runtime branch that matches the response.
- If the failure is a 401, compare the security configurations at both ends and account for the OAuth requirement when retrieving Integration 3 catalogs through Integration Applications.
- If a Fusion event is absent, use Fusion event diagnostics to inspect subscription and delivery details; follow the indicated application boundary rather than assuming the integration mapping is at fault.
- If an ERP callback or SOAP issue is involved, confirm the adapter generation and use the matching guide before applying version-specific configuration steps.
