If Fubo keeps buffering, check for a service issue first, then refresh the stream and restart the app, device, and network equipment. After that, compare your connection speed with Fubo’s recommendations and test whether the problem follows one device, one connection, or every stream in your home.
Work through the quickest fixes first
- Check Fubo’s status updates. If Fubo reports a service issue, changing your home network settings may not help. Check Fubo status updates before troubleshooting locally.
- Refresh the affected stream. Switch to another channel, then return to the one that was buffering. If the spinning wheel continues, fully close Fubo—force-close it if your device offers that option—and reopen it. Fubo recommends these steps in its buffering troubleshooting guidance.
- Restart the device. Restart the TV, streaming player, phone, tablet, or computer using the device maker’s normal restart procedure.
- Restart the router and modem. Unplug the router and/or cable modem for about a minute, then reconnect the equipment and wait for the connection to return before trying Fubo again. Fubo recommends restarting this equipment as part of its general buffering steps.
A brief loading indicator when a stream first starts is not necessarily a problem. If playback repeatedly stops and starts, or the spinning wheel continues, move on to the connection checks below.
Check whether your internet connection has enough speed
Run a speed test on the device or connection you use for Fubo, then compare the result with Fubo’s published recommendations. These are recommended continuous speeds, not a guarantee against buffering; Wi-Fi conditions and other household activity can affect the bandwidth available to a stream.
| Fubo video resolution | Recommended continuous speed |
|---|---|
| 480p | 3+ Mb/s |
| 720p | 7+ Mb/s |
| 1080p | 10+ Mb/s |
| 4K | 25+ Mb/s |
Figures are Fubo’s recommendations published in 2026. Fubo also says three simultaneous 720p streams need 21 Mb/s or more. A household may need additional bandwidth when someone else is streaming, gaming, or doing other online tasks. As Fubo explains, “Each device on your home network shares a portion of your available connection speed, which means that with each device, less bandwidth is available for the remaining devices to perform online tasks.” See Fubo’s speed and buffering advice.
#1 Best Overall
- Tri-Band WiFi 6E Router - Up to 5400 Mbps WiFi for faster browsing, streaming, gaming and downloading, all at the same time(6 GHz: 2402 Mbps;5 GHz: 2402 Mbps;2.4 GHz: 574 Mbps)
- WiFi 6E Unleashed – The 6 GHz band brings more bandwidth, faster speeds, and near-zero latency; Enables more responsive gaming and video chatting
- Connect More Devices—True Tri-Band and OFDMA technology increase capacity by 4 times to enable simultaneous transmission to more devices
- Unique Design, More RAM, Better Processing - A unique housing design provides optimal heat dissipation, combined with a 1.0 GHz dual-core CPU and 512 MB High-Speed Memory, the AXE75 is designed for long-term reliability and performance.
- EasyMesh-compatible - Extend network range even more by adding EasyMesh-compatible routers, extenders, or wireless powerline adapters for a seamless, whole-home connection. Eliminate dead zones, drops, and lag as you move across your home.
If you are on Wi-Fi
- Move closer to the router and retry the stream.
- If possible, test the same stream over Ethernet. This is a diagnostic comparison, not a guaranteed fix; you do not need to replace your router or buy equipment just to begin troubleshooting.
- Pause other bandwidth-heavy activity briefly, such as another video stream or an online game, and see whether playback improves.
If the measured speed is below the recommendation for the resolution you want, or the connection is unreliable across devices, Fubo directs users to contact their internet provider.
Lower video quality if your device offers the control
Fubo generally adjusts video quality automatically to suit the available internet speed. On supported devices, choosing a lower quality manually may help when the connection is constrained. The controls and labels vary by device, so use the video-quality setting available in your Fubo app if present. Manual quality adjustment is not available on iPhone or iPad. Fubo’s device guidance is at How to change video quality settings.

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
Find out whether the issue is the device or the connection
Try the same Fubo stream on another device. If it plays normally there, concentrate on the original device or its Fubo app: close and reopen the app, restart the device, and check for available app or device updates. If playback fails on multiple devices connected to the same home network, test a different connection if available—for example, Wi-Fi instead of cellular, or Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi.
- Only one device buffers: The issue is more likely isolated to that device or its app. Restart it and retry Fubo.
- Multiple devices buffer on the same network: Check the measured speed and network conditions, then contact your internet provider if the speed is inadequate.
- The stream works on another connection: Focus on the original network or connection type.
- Buffering persists across devices and connections: Contact Fubo Support and describe which devices and connections you tested. Fubo recommends contacting support when another device also has the problem.
Use the fix that matches the symptom
A VPN or proxy is enabled
Turn off a VPN or location-hiding proxy and retry. Fubo says a VPN or proxy used to alter or hide your location can prevent access; that is an access issue, not necessarily a weak-speed problem. See Fubo’s VPN and proxy guidance.

Playback fails in a web browser
Update the browser and temporarily disable extensions that can interfere with playback, such as ad blockers. Retry Fubo after each change so you can tell whether the browser or an extension was responsible. Browser-specific playback problems are separate from general Wi-Fi buffering. Fubo’s browser troubleshooting information is available at Browser Troubleshooting.
You see an HDCP or protected-content error
An HDCP compatibility message is not the same as a stream that buffers or stops and starts. Follow Fubo’s separate instructions for the protected-content error rather than assuming an HDMI cable will solve ordinary buffering: Fubo HDCP error help.
