Use the Activision account that already holds your Call of Duty progress, and link every console or PC account to that same Activision identity. Activision’s cross-progression policy carries progression across linked platforms. When Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, 2026, that account continuity is what lets Warzone recognize eligible operators, skins, blueprints, and weapons. It does not mean that every old multiplayer rank, weapon level, camo, or custom class will appear in Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer.
Warzone begins integrating Modern Warfare 4 content with Season 1. At that transition, the Warzone experience leaves PlayStation 4 and Xbox One behind; the supported launch platforms for Modern Warfare 4 are PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
What transfers, and where you can use it
The most important distinction is between Warzone carry-forward content and Modern Warfare 4’s new multiplayer progression. Activision’s September 24, 2026 clarification specifically protects certain content in Warzone. It does not promise a wholesale import of earlier multiplayer profiles into the new game.

“Available” means the item is recognized in Warzone after the Season 1 integration. It does not guarantee identical menus, attachments, statistics, or progression behavior in Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer.

What you need before launch
The original Activision account
Find the Activision account that currently contains your Call of Duty progression, purchases, operators, and blueprints. Sign in to Activision account management and verify the account name before launching the new game. A newly created Activision account will not inherit the history stored on a different account.
Every platform account linked to that identity
Check that the PlayStation Network, Xbox, Steam, Battle.net, Nintendo, or other supported platform account you plan to use is linked to the same Activision account. Cross-progression follows that shared Activision identity, not a console family by itself. A PlayStation account linked to one Activision account and an Xbox account linked to another will not present one combined progression history.
A supported current-generation platform
Modern Warfare 4 releases October 23, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Warzone’s Season 1 transition removes PlayStation 4 and Xbox One from the Warzone experience, so an older console cannot be used as the destination for that integrated Warzone content after the transition.

How to transfer your progression step by step
- Sign in to the Activision account with your existing progress. Use the account you used for the Call of Duty games whose Warzone content you want to retain. If you are unsure, check the account-management profile and the linked-platform list before opening either game.
- Confirm each platform link. In Activision account management, review the linked PlayStation Network, Xbox, Steam, Battle.net, Nintendo, or other supported account. The platform account you will use for Modern Warfare 4 and Warzone must appear under the same Activision identity as your earlier progress.
- Do not switch identities at launch. Start Modern Warfare 4 and Warzone with the same Activision sign-in. Platform changes are supported when the accounts are linked to that one identity; launching with a different Activision account creates the appearance that progress is missing.
- Complete any first-run account prompts. If the game asks you to sign in or confirm account details, use the existing Activision credentials rather than creating a second profile. Allow account synchronization to finish before judging whether content is present.
- Open Warzone after the Season 1 integration. The carry-forward rules apply to the integrated Warzone experience beginning with Season 1. Content that is expected to remain available should be checked in Warzone, not inferred from the new multiplayer menus.
- Open Loadouts and select the Legacy tab. Weapons from Modern Warfare II through Black Ops 7 are placed in Warzone’s Legacy area. Look there for the older weapons and their associated eligible blueprints.
- Build new legacy classes. Legacy weapons receive a five-attachment version. Prior custom loadouts do not transfer, and legacy weapons or blueprints do not retain Gunsmith editing. Choose attachments within the five-slot limit and save the class as a new Warzone loadout.
- Check operators and skins separately. Operators and their earned or purchased skins are a different content category from weapons. Review the operator-selection screen in Warzone rather than expecting an old weapon blueprint to prove that an operator transferred.
How legacy weapons work in Warzone
Where to find them
All weapons covered by the carry-forward policy from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6, and Black Ops 7 remain accessible through the Legacy tab in Warzone. If you are looking in the standard current-weapon list, an older weapon can appear to be absent even though it is available in that separate section.

The five-attachment limit
Legacy weapons receive a five-attachment version. Treat this as a Warzone implementation of the older item, not as a promise that every historical build can be reproduced. Select up to five supported attachments, then save the resulting class as a new loadout.
No previous Gunsmith or custom-class restoration
Activision’s clarification says Gunsmith functionality and prior custom loadouts are not supported for legacy weapons or blueprints. Your old class names, attachment combinations, and saved tuning should therefore be treated as references you must rebuild manually when the available legacy interface permits it.
Camos require caution
The September 24 clarification explicitly corrected an earlier error: it did not promise legacy weapon camos. Operators, operator skins, weapon blueprints, and the covered weapons are the confirmed carry-forward categories. Do not assume that a camo transfers because its weapon or blueprint appears in the Legacy tab.
Switching from PlayStation to Xbox or PC
You do not transfer progress by moving a file or copying a console save. You preserve it by using the same Activision identity on the new platform.

PlayStation to Xbox
Before starting on Xbox, confirm that the Xbox account is linked to the Activision account that already holds your progression. Then launch Warzone or Modern Warfare 4 while signed in through that linked Xbox account. The eligible Warzone content is associated with the Activision account, while the Xbox profile supplies the platform access.
Xbox to PlayStation
Use the same check in reverse: verify the intended PlayStation Network account in Activision account management, then use that account to launch the games. A different Activision login will not display the progression stored on the original one.
Console to PC
For Steam, Battle.net, or another supported PC route, link the PC platform account to the existing Activision identity before launching. Once linked, sign in with that Activision account in the PC version and inspect Warzone’s Legacy tab for eligible weapons.

Changing from one supported platform to another does not turn the new game’s multiplayer progression into an old profile. Modern Warfare 4 still has its own Soldier Rank, weapon progression, Apex Attachments, and Prestige systems. The account link preserves eligible cross-platform Warzone content; it does not erase the distinction between Warzone carry-forward items and the new game’s progression tracks.

Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer starts its own progression
Modern Warfare 4 introduces a separate Soldier Rank and weapon-progression structure, including Apex Attachments. The game also has two Prestige paths with different effects.
Classic Prestige
Classic Prestige resets Create-a-Class progression. In exchange, it provides increased XP and exclusive rewards. Choosing it is a deliberate reset inside Modern Warfare 4, not a method for importing or restoring an earlier Call of Duty profile.
Regular Prestige
Regular Prestige restarts level progression without resetting Create-a-Class content. Your classes remain available while the level track begins again.

Plan to level the new game separately and treat Warzone as the place where the published legacy carry-forward rules apply.

If something is missing
First, verify the account identity
Return to Activision account management and compare the signed-in Activision account with the linked platform account shown there. This is the highest-value check because cross-progression depends on the shared Activision identity.
Then check the correct Warzone location
For an older weapon, open Warzone’s Loadouts and select Legacy. Looking only in the current-weapon list or in Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer can lead to a false conclusion that the item did not carry forward.
Check the content category
Operators, operator skins, blueprints, and weapons are the categories Activision identified for Warzone carry-forward. Legacy camos were not promised, and previous custom loadouts and Gunsmith editing are not supported for legacy weapons or blueprints. A missing camo or an unavailable old class is therefore different from a missing eligible weapon.

The integration begins with Warzone Season 1. If you check before that transition, the final legacy presentation may not yet be available. After the transition, remember that PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are no longer part of the Warzone experience.
Use the official support hub for unresolved account problems
If the account links are correct and the item is an eligible Warzone category but still does not appear, use Activision’s Modern Warfare 4 support hub. Its support areas cover account registration, account management, COD Points, installation, and connection troubleshooting. Include the Activision account identifier, platform, game mode, and the exact content category when describing the problem; do not create a second Activision account to work around it.
