There is currently no documented way to transfer a Usual June save between Xbox Series X|S and a PC. Finji has announced Xbox Series and Microsoft Store PC versions for 20 January 2027, but the announcement does not confirm Xbox Play Anywhere, cross-buy, or cross-platform save roaming. The Steam edition lists Steam Cloud, which synchronizes Steam installations only and is not evidence that an Xbox or Microsoft Store PC save can read the same data.
What you can and cannot do right now
As of 19 October 2026, no official source documents an Xbox-to-PC or PC-to-Xbox save-transfer procedure for Usual June. That means there is no verified sequence of menus, account settings, USB steps, or file-copy commands that you can use safely for this game.
The situation is especially easy to misunderstand because several versions are planned for Windows. Finji’s official game page identifies Windows and Mac as platforms, while a Gematsu report says Finji announced Xbox Series and Microsoft Store PC versions launching on 20 January 2027 alongside the previously announced Steam version. A shared operating system, however, does not prove that two storefronts use the same save service or entitlement.
- Xbox Series X|S to Microsoft Store PC: no documented transfer method yet.
- Microsoft Store PC to Xbox Series X|S: no documented transfer method yet.
- Steam PC to Xbox: no evidence that Steam Cloud saves can be read by an Xbox console.
- Steam PC to Microsoft Store PC: no evidence that the two Windows builds share saves.
Until Finji or the live Microsoft/Xbox listings explicitly describe save roaming, treat automatic transfer as unverified rather than assumed.

The release date and feature information above come from the Finji announcement reported by Gematsu and the contemporaneous store listings. Those details can change before launch, so check the live product pages rather than relying on an old screenshot or retailer description.
Why Steam Cloud does not prove Xbox cross-save
Steam Cloud is a synchronization feature for the Steam edition. It can make a Steam save available to another computer using the same Steam account when the game and its cloud service support that behavior. The Steam listing’s Cloud badge does not say that Microsoft’s Xbox service can authenticate, download, or interpret those files.
Steam and Microsoft use separate storefronts, accounts, entitlement records, and cloud infrastructures. Even when two editions run on Windows, they may store saves in different locations, use different identifiers, or package the save in a format that the other build does not recognize. Nothing in the available Usual June material establishes a shared save format or a publisher-operated account system connecting the editions.
Consequently, installing the Steam build on a PC where the Microsoft Store build is installed should not be treated as a migration. Steam Cloud may synchronize the Steam installation’s own data, but it is not a bridge to Xbox consoles.
Microsoft Store PC and Xbox are separate questions
The Microsoft Store PC announcement matters because it creates a second PC edition distinct from Steam. It does not, by itself, promise that an Xbox purchase includes the Windows version or that progress follows a player between them.

Play Anywhere
Xbox Play Anywhere is a specific Microsoft entitlement and save-roaming program. A game normally needs an explicit Play Anywhere indication on the live Xbox or Microsoft Store listing for that claim to be established. The announced Usual June versions were not documented as Play Anywhere in the available material.
Cross-buy
Cross-buy answers whether one qualifying purchase grants both the Xbox and Windows licenses. It is separate from save synchronization: two versions could share a purchase without sharing progress, or share progress under another arrangement. No cross-buy statement has been documented for Usual June.

Cross-save or save roaming
Save roaming is the feature that would allow a save created on one supported device to appear on another. The Xbox and Microsoft Store announcements do not state that this is available. Do not infer it from the presence of both versions in the same Xbox ecosystem.
How to verify support when the Xbox versions launch
The Xbox and Microsoft Store PC launch is announced for 20 January 2027. If you want to move progress after the listings go live, use this verification process before buying a second edition or deleting an existing installation.
- Open the live Xbox product page. Look for an explicit Play Anywhere badge or wording that the game is playable on both Xbox console and Windows PC with a shared purchase. Record the exact edition name and publisher shown on the page.
- Open the live Microsoft Store PC page. Check whether it identifies the same Xbox title and whether it explicitly mentions cloud saves, cross-save, or progress synchronization. A generic “available on PC” statement is not enough.
- Check Finji’s support information. Look for a help article that names Usual June and describes account requirements, supported platforms, and what happens when cloud data conflicts. A general Xbox cloud-save article cannot establish that this particular game supports roaming.
- Confirm the account requirement. If official instructions require an Xbox/Microsoft account, use the same account on the console and the Microsoft Store PC installation. Do not assume that a Steam login, a Windows login, and an Xbox profile are interchangeable.
- Install the edition named by the support article. The Microsoft Store build and Steam build are different storefront products. Follow the documented edition exactly; installing the wrong one can produce a separate, apparently empty save slot.
- Launch the game online and allow synchronization to finish. If the official instructions describe a first-run import or a cloud-conflict prompt, wait for it to complete before starting a new game. Keep the original installation and its save untouched until you have confirmed that the expected progress appears.
- Test with the original device still available. Open the transferred save, verify a distinctive location or progress milestone, and then close the game normally so the service can complete its upload. This avoids confusing a newly created local save with a downloaded one.
If the live pages do not contain explicit wording about shared saves, stop at verification. A missing badge or support statement is not proof that transfer is impossible forever, but it is a reason not to risk your only save by experimenting.

What to do if you own the Steam edition
The Steam listing’s Cloud feature is useful for Steam-to-Steam continuity. Sign in to the same Steam account on the other computer and let Steam finish its synchronization before launching the game. That guidance applies only within the Steam edition.

Copying a Steam save directory into another installation is not an officially supported transfer method in the available information, and the correct folder, file format, and compatibility have not been established for this game.
If you plan to move from Steam to a Microsoft Store or Xbox edition, keep the Steam installation intact. Do not uninstall it or allow a new installation to overwrite files while waiting for an official migration announcement.
Symptoms that do not establish a transfer failure
The new version starts at the beginning
A new-game screen on another storefront is consistent with separate save systems. It does not show that your original save was deleted. Exit without creating replacement progress, then verify the edition, account, and official support status.
A cloud option appears on one platform
A cloud icon or synchronization message can refer only to that platform’s service. Steam Cloud, Xbox cloud storage, and Microsoft Store synchronization are not interchangeable labels. Identify which service the message names before treating it as cross-platform support.

The game asks which save to keep
Do not choose an overwrite option until you know whether the prompt refers to a local-versus-cloud conflict within the same edition or to a supported cross-device import. Preserve the device containing the known-good progress and consult the game-specific instructions first.
The console and PC use different accounts
Even a future roaming feature may require the same Microsoft account on both devices. A different account can legitimately show no progress while the original account remains intact. Account matching should be checked before reinstalling or deleting anything.
You are offline during the first launch
Cloud-based features cannot be verified reliably while a device is offline. Reconnect, restart the affected edition, and wait for the platform’s synchronization process to complete. If official instructions do not mention a recovery step, avoid repeated launches that could create competing local saves.

USB or external-drive copying from Xbox
No source for Usual June documents exporting an Xbox console save to a USB drive or extracting it for use on a PC. Xbox console saves are managed by the platform, and an arbitrary file-copy workflow could not be verified for this title. Do not follow a generic video that claims to unlock or convert the save.

Changing filenames or moving files between Steam and Microsoft Store folders is unsupported by the available evidence. It can create a second local save, trigger a conflict, or leave the game unable to load the data. Steam Cloud’s presence does not make such a conversion safe.

Assuming ownership transfers with the account
Signing into the same Windows or Microsoft account does not automatically establish cross-buy or cross-save. Those are product features that must be stated for this game on the live listing or in publisher documentation.
Relying on a retailer’s old description
The Xbox and Microsoft Store launch is in the future relative to 19 October 2026. Retail pages, cached listings, and pre-release announcements can omit or misstate platform features. Use the current Xbox/Microsoft Store metadata and Finji’s own support information when the editions are available.

What to monitor around 20 January 2027
Three pieces of information will resolve the uncertainty: the Xbox listing’s Play Anywhere status, the Microsoft Store PC listing’s cloud-save wording, and a Finji support article that names the supported transfer direction. The important distinction is between a feature shown on a live product page and an assumption based only on both versions running on Windows.

- Whether one purchase grants both console and Windows access.
- Whether progress roams automatically or requires an in-game import.
- Which account must be used and whether online sign-in is required.
- How conflicts between local and cloud saves are resolved.
- Whether the feature applies from launch or arrives in a later update.
Until those details are published, the only confirmed PC synchronization feature is Steam Cloud for the Steam edition, and that feature should be treated as Steam-only.
