The quickest route depends on where the screenshot needs to go. For a phone, use Album > Sharing and Editing > Send to Smartphone and scan the QR code. For a larger phone library, upload from the Nintendo Switch App and save the files in the app. For a computer, use Copy to PC over USB with a data-capable USB-C cable connected directly to the Switch 2, not to the dock. If you need an offline method, copy captures to a microSD Express card.
These are Switch 2 capture-transfer workflows, so they also apply to Stellar Blade screenshots unless the software blocks a wireless or app-based transfer. Nintendo does not publish a Stellar Blade-specific exception.
Choose the route that fits your destination
| Goal | Recommended route | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| A few screenshots on a phone | Send to Smartphone by QR code | A phone camera and an internet-connected browser session |
| A larger phone library or sharing to another app | Nintendo Switch App | The app signed in to the relevant Nintendo Account, plus enough time to save the uploads locally |
| Full-quality files on a PC | Copy to PC over USB | A USB-C cable that supports data transfer, connected directly to the Switch 2 |
| Offline movement between devices | microSD Express card | A supported microSD Express card and, when needed, a compatible card reader |
The QR method is convenient for a small selection. The app is better when you have many files or want to pass them into another phone app. USB is the most direct computer workflow. A card is useful when you do not want to use a wireless or server-based route.

Step 1: Open the screenshot in Album
- From the Switch 2 HOME Menu, open Album.
- Locate the Stellar Blade screenshot you want to move.
- Open the capture, then choose Sharing and Editing.
Step 2: Start Send to Smartphone
- Choose Send to Smartphone.
- The Switch 2 displays a QR code. Keep this screen visible while you use the phone.
Step 3: Scan and download
- Open the phone camera and scan the QR code shown on the console.
- Follow the browser prompts that appear on the phone.
- When the capture is offered for download, save it to the phone. The exact save location is controlled by the phone’s operating system and browser.
Nintendo’s current guidance allows up to 10 screenshots and one video capture in a single wireless transfer. Select only the files you need for that batch; start another transfer for additional captures. Nintendo also warns that some software does not support Send to Smartphone. If the option is missing or the session will not start, use the Nintendo Switch App, direct USB transfer, or a microSD Express card instead.
When the QR route is the best choice
- You need a few images immediately for messaging, posting, or editing on the phone.
- You do not want to install or sign in to an app.
- You can keep the console and phone together while the QR session is active.
Use the Nintendo Switch App for a larger phone collection
The app route separates the process into two actions: upload captures from the console, then save or share them from the app on the phone. It is practical for a larger selection than the QR workflow and lets you send a downloaded file to another phone application.
Upload from Switch 2
- Open Album on the HOME Menu.
- Select a screenshot, or open the Album’s Quick Actions menu to begin choosing captures.
- Choose the option to upload the selected files to the Nintendo Switch App.
- Complete the on-screen upload process and wait for the files to finish uploading before closing the relevant screen.
Nintendo says the app accepts up to 100 files in one batch. The uploaded copies are held on Nintendo’s server for 30 days, so treat the app as a temporary staging area rather than permanent backup storage.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsSave files on the phone
- Open the Nintendo Switch App and go to its Album.
- Tap the Stellar Blade screenshot you want to keep locally.
- Choose Save to download the file to the phone, or choose Share to pass it directly to another app.
- Repeat for the files you want to retain, and confirm they appear in the phone’s photo library or chosen destination.
Save anything you need before the 30-day server-retention period ends. Nintendo also notes that some software does not support uploading to the app. Because no Stellar Blade-specific restriction is published, the absence of an upload option should be treated as a software-support limitation rather than a problem with the screenshot itself.

When the app is preferable to QR
- You have a large set of captures to move at once.
- You want to share a downloaded capture through a messaging, editing, or storage app.
- You are comfortable signing in and managing temporary online copies.
Copy screenshots directly to a PC over USB
USB is the computer-focused method. It copies the saved captures directly from the console to the computer without routing them through the Nintendo Switch App. The cable and connection point matter: the cable must carry data, and the connection must be made to the Switch 2 itself.
Step 1: Open the USB-copy setting
- On the Switch 2, open System Settings.
- Choose Data Management.
- Open Manage Screenshots and Videos.
- Select Copy to PC over USB. Nintendo’s documentation also labels this function Copy to a Computer via USB Connection.
Step 2: Connect the correct cable
- Use a USB-C cable that explicitly supports data transfer, not a cable intended only for charging.
- Plug the cable directly into a USB-C port on the Switch 2 console.
- Connect the other end to the computer.
Nintendo states that the USB cable must connect directly to the console and that the dock’s USB ports do not support this feature. Connecting the cable to a USB port on the dock will therefore not start the transfer, even if the same cable and computer work elsewhere.
Step 3: Select captures on the computer
- After the console and computer establish the USB session, use the computer’s transfer interface to view the available screenshots and videos.
- Select the Stellar Blade captures you want to copy.
- Choose the computer destination and allow the transfer to complete before disconnecting the cable.
If the computer does not see the console, check the two requirements that Nintendo specifies first: the cable must be data-capable, and it must be connected directly to the console rather than the dock. Reconnect after returning to the Copy to PC over USB screen.

- It is designed specifically for moving captures to a computer.
- It avoids the app’s temporary server-retention window.
- It does not require a QR scan for each wireless session.
Move captures with a microSD Express card
Switch 2 capture storage and copying use the microSD Express format. A standard, non-Express microSD card is not the supported capture-storage choice for Switch 2, so do not buy an ordinary card for this task.

Copy captures to the card
- Open System Settings.
- Choose Data Management.
- Open Manage Screenshots and Videos.
- Use the system-memory or microSD Express options to copy the selected screenshots and videos to the card.
The menu lets you work with captures in system memory and on the microSD Express card. Use the option that contains the Stellar Blade files, then copy the selected items to the card as required.
Read the card on a phone or computer
A computer with a compatible card slot can access the card directly. If the phone or computer has no suitable slot, a USB-C microSD Express reader can bridge the connection. Nintendo does not name or endorse a particular reader, so this is an accessory-based inference rather than a Nintendo product recommendation.
- Match the reader to the card’s microSD Express standard.
- Match the reader’s plug to the destination device, such as USB-C.
- Check that the phone or computer can access external storage through that connector.
Using a reader changes only how the card is connected to the destination. It does not make a regular microSD card compatible with Switch 2 capture storage.
Troubleshoot the common transfer problems
The Send to Smartphone option is unavailable
Nintendo warns that some software does not support the wireless feature. Nintendo’s published guidance does not identify a Stellar Blade-specific exception, so first confirm that the screenshot is selected in Album and that you opened Sharing and Editing. If the option remains unavailable, use the Nintendo Switch App, USB transfer to a PC, or the microSD Express route.

The app upload option is unavailable or fails
Some software also does not support uploading to the Nintendo Switch App. Try a different supported route rather than repeatedly retrying the same upload. If the upload succeeds, remember that the server copy is temporary and save the files on the phone during the retention window.
The computer does not detect the Switch 2
- Confirm that the cable supports data transfer.
- Confirm that the cable is plugged into the console’s USB-C port, not a dock USB port.
- Return to System Settings > Data Management > Manage Screenshots and Videos > Copy to PC over USB, then reconnect.
A charging-only cable or a dock connection does not meet Nintendo’s stated requirements for this feature.
The card is not accepted for captures
Verify that the card is microSD Express. A normal microSD card is not the supported Switch 2 capture-storage format. If the card is correct but the destination device has no slot, use a reader that supports the Express standard and matches the device connector.
The app file can no longer be downloaded
App uploads are retained on Nintendo’s server for 30 days. If that period has passed, the temporary app copy may no longer be available; use a local phone save, a PC USB copy, or a microSD Express copy for future long-term retention.

A practical workflow for keeping a complete Stellar Blade archive
For occasional sharing, use the QR route and save the files immediately. For a large phone selection, upload through the app, then use Save or Share for every capture you want to keep before the server-retention period expires. For editing, organizing, or backing up on a computer, use direct USB transfer with a data cable connected to the console. If you need an offline handoff or your computer and phone both support removable storage, copy the files to a microSD Express card and use a compatible slot or reader.
Keep the original captures on the Switch 2 until you have verified the destination copies. This simple check catches an incomplete browser download, an interrupted app save, or a cable session that ended before all selected files were copied.
Bottom line: which method should you use?
Choose Send to Smartphone for a few quick phone transfers, the Nintendo Switch App for a larger phone batch and in-app sharing, Copy to PC over USB for direct computer access, and microSD Express for offline card-based movement. The two details most likely to prevent a failed transfer are using a data-capable USB-C cable directly on the console and using microSD Express rather than a standard microSD card.
