To transfer Metro Redux save data, use the save-transfer method for the console family that currently holds it: PlayStation cloud storage, Xbox cloud saves, or Nintendo Switch’s save-transfer or cloud-backup options. Keep the same platform account on both consoles. These methods cover console-to-console moves within their respective ecosystems; the available official guidance does not establish cross-platform conversion or compatibility between every edition.
Before you start: identify the consoles and game edition
First establish which console has the save and which console will receive it. Then check whether you are moving to a replacement in the same console family or trying to change platforms or game editions. The procedures below explain each platform’s general save-transfer options, but they do not guarantee every Metro Redux edition pairing will recognize the same save.

Transfer a PlayStation save from PS4 to PS4 or PS5
Sony’s cloud-storage route supports uploading saved data from a PS4 or PS5 and downloading it to another console. A PlayStation Plus membership is required to use this cloud storage. Upload the save from the old PS4, then download it on the destination console. Sony notes that PS4 saves on PS5 may need to be downloaded manually.

- On the old PS4, upload the Metro Redux save to PlayStation Plus cloud storage using the console’s saved-data controls.
- On the new PS5, open Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Saved Data (PS4) > Download or Delete from Cloud Storage.
- Select the Metro Redux save and download it.
- Start the PS4 version of the game and check that the save appears before deleting the old console’s copy.
Metro Redux is listed as a PS4 title playable on PS5, although some PS4 features may be absent. The store listing and Sony’s general cloud instructions do not explicitly guarantee this game’s save transfer. Sony’s cloud-storage instructions and the Metro Redux PlayStation Store listing provide the relevant details.
Transfer an Xbox save between Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S
Xbox’s general guidance says saves for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S games can move between those console families through the cloud. Sign in on the new console with the same Xbox profile, connect it to the internet, and launch the game so the save can sync.

- On the new Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, sign in with the same Xbox profile.
- Connect to the internet, launch Metro Redux, and allow the save to sync before continuing.
Xbox’s guidance also notes that saves for original Xbox backward-compatible titles do not transfer to Xbox One or Series consoles. Do not assume that exception applies to a Metro Redux release; confirm which version you own. This Xbox route does not transfer a save to PlayStation or Switch. Nintendo’s built-in save-data transfer moves a save between consoles. Both consoles must be available and connected to the internet, their system software must be up to date, and the relevant users must be linked to the same Nintendo Account. This is a move, not a copy: Nintendo says the source save is removed, and any existing destination save is overwritten.

- Prepare both consoles: connect them to the internet, update system software, and link the same Nintendo Account to the relevant users.
- On the HOME menu, select System Settings > Data Management > Transfer Your Save Data.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to send the save from the source console to the destination.
- Confirm that the save is present on the destination before proceeding with other changes.
Nintendo Switch saves are stored in console memory, not on a microSD card or game card, so those cards are not a save-transfer method. Nintendo Switch Online cloud backup is another possible route only if the game supports Save Data Cloud: use the same Nintendo Account on the destination console and download the available backup. The cited sources do not confirm Metro Redux’s cloud-save eligibility, so check the game’s eShop listing before relying on this option. What to do if the save does not appear
- Confirm the account: Verify that the destination console is signed into the same platform account or profile used on the source.
- Check the route: PlayStation requires the save to be uploaded and then downloaded; Xbox cloud saves sync when you sign in and launch the game; Nintendo’s local transfer must be started from Data Management.
- Check the edition: Make sure the destination is running the corresponding game version. The available platform sources do not certify compatibility across every distinct edition.
- On Switch, check cloud eligibility: A Nintendo Switch Online backup can be restored only for a game that supports Save Data Cloud. Saves are not recoverable from a microSD card or game card.
- On PS5, check PS4 saved data: Use the PS4 saved-data section in Settings and manually download the cloud save if necessary.
