The simplest route is vivo’s EasyShare app: open Phone Clone on both phones, pair them by QR code, choose what to move, and start the transfer. If the vivo offers Android’s copy-data option during initial setup, you can also migrate by cable or wirelessly. Neither route guarantees that every app or every kind of data will move, so check the new phone afterward.
Before you start
- Charge both phones and make sure the vivo has enough free storage. Google says its Android setup transfer can take from a few minutes to a few hours, depending on how much data you copy: Google’s setup guidance.
- Keep both phones nearby and follow the prompts on screen. Exact labels and available features vary by vivo model, Android version, and region.
- If the old phone contains important app data, check that app’s backup and sign-in requirements before switching. Google specifically notes that WhatsApp chats and data restore from the cloud after you sign in and open WhatsApp on the new phone, provided backups were enabled on the old phone.
Method 1: Use vivo EasyShare Phone Clone
EasyShare Phone Clone is vivo’s direct phone-migration option. vivo says it transfers without using mobile data; it pairs the phones locally, so follow any connection and permission prompts that appear.
- Open or install EasyShare on both phones, then choose Phone Clone.
- On the old Android phone, choose Old phone. On the vivo, choose New phone.
- When the old phone displays a QR code, scan it with the vivo.
- On the old phone, select the data you want to transfer and start Phone Clone.
- Keep the phones together until transmission finishes, then check the vivo for the transferred items.
The exact screens can differ by app version. vivo’s EasyShare guidance describes QR pairing, data selection, and the transfer sequence: vivo EasyShare.
If an app is missing afterward
An app can transfer without installing automatically: vivo says permission limitations may prevent automatic installation. On the vivo, open Files > Apps and install eligible transferred apps manually. Check important apps individually for missing data or a separate restore step: vivo’s EasyShare instructions.

Method 2: Copy data during Android setup
If the vivo offers Android’s copy-data flow while you set up the new phone, you can use a cable or wireless transfer. Google recommends Wi-Fi and says the setup flow requires an internet connection. The copy option may not be available after setup, so use this route during initial setup if you want it. Availability depends on the device; Google’s instructions do not establish that every vivo model offers the flow.
- Start setting up the vivo and choose the option to copy apps and data when it appears.
- Choose cable or wireless transfer and follow the on-screen instructions to connect the old Android phone.
- Review the available data, make your selections, and start the copy.
- Leave both phones connected or nearby until setup reports that copying is complete.
For a cable transfer, use a data cable that fits both phones; an adapter may be needed. Check the connectors and capabilities of both devices before buying anything. Google describes cable and wireless setup here: Copy apps and data from an Android device.

Which method should you use?

Neither source provides a controlled speed comparison, so there is no basis to say one method is always faster. Choose the route available on your vivo and suited to your connection and setup stage.

- Apps and certain app data
- Music, photos, and videos
- Contacts stored on the phone or SIM
- Text messages and multimedia in them
- Most phone settings, wallpaper, and call history
Google says the flow does not copy downloads such as PDFs, media in hidden folders, apps not from Google Play, data from apps that do not use Android backup, non-Google accounts and their data, contacts or calendars synced to other services, ringtones, and some phone settings. Results can vary with the devices and Android versions involved. See Google’s list of what transfers.
After either method, check the new phone for the files, conversations, contacts, and app data you care about. A phone managed by an organization may have transfer limits, according to Google.

Troubleshooting common transfer problems
The Android setup copy option is missing
Google frames this copy option as part of new-device setup and warns that it may not be available later. If setup is already complete, use EasyShare if available rather than assuming Android’s setup flow can be reopened.
The cable does not fit or the phones do not connect
Check the ports on both phones and use a compatible data cable or adapter. If the vivo offers it, choose wireless setup instead. Do not assume that a charging cable supports data transfer.

Some apps or files are absent
For EasyShare, check Files > Apps for apps that need manual installation. For either route, review app-specific backup and restore steps, and look for files stored in folders or accounts that the chosen method does not copy.
The transfer stops or takes a long time
Keep the phones charged, close together, and connected as instructed. Google’s estimate for its setup flow ranges from a few minutes to a few hours depending on data volume; it is a planning range, not a guaranteed completion time.
