To move to a new OPPO phone safely, complete the phone’s first-run setup, then use OPPO Clone Phone with the old device. Clone Phone can copy common items such as contacts, messages, photos, videos, music and many apps from another OPPO, most Android phones or an iPhone. It does not create a perfect copy: hardware-bound credentials, security data, incompatible apps and some cloud-only content require separate handling. Back up anything already on the new phone before starting, because OPPO warns that the migration can overwrite existing apps and app data.

The screen names and order vary by model, region and ColorOS version. Treat the instructions below as the general flow, and follow the prompts shown on your specific devices. OPPO’s setup overview is available at OPPO’s new-phone setup guide, while its source-specific migration instructions are in the Clone Phone support article.

Before you begin: protect both phones

A few minutes of preparation prevents the most common migration failures. Keep the old and new phones together until you have checked the transferred data.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Charge both phones. A transfer can be lengthy, and an interruption may leave the new phone only partially populated.
  • Keep the devices close. Clone Phone creates a direct connection using the in-app instructions. OPPO says the old phone’s Wi-Fi should be on and the new phone’s personal hotspot should be on; the transfer itself does not use mobile data.
  • Use Wi-Fi for setup and cloud downloads. Wi-Fi is especially important when moving photos or videos that are stored in iCloud rather than locally on an iPhone.
  • Back up anything already on the new OPPO. Clone Phone may overwrite apps and app data on the destination phone. Copy those files elsewhere before migration if you have already started using the new device.
  • Know your account credentials. Have the Google account used on the old Android phone, the Apple ID credentials needed for an iPhone/iCloud route, and the screen-lock method for each device available.
  • Leave enough free storage. The migration screen can show which categories fit. If the new phone has less storage than the old one, select the most important categories first and retain the original phone as a backup until verification is complete.

The old phone’s files are not deleted by a Clone Phone transfer. That does not replace a separate backup: an accidental reset, a damaged source phone or a failed account sign-in can still make data difficult to recover.

Set up the new OPPO phone first

OPPO’s general first-run sequence is consistent across many models, but wording and menu order depend on the device and ColorOS release.

  1. Power on the new phone. Hold the power button until the OPPO logo and welcome screen appear.
  2. Select language and region. Choose the language, country or region and any accessibility options shown. Region selection can affect available services and the wording of later screens.
  3. Connect to Wi-Fi. Choose a trusted network and enter its password. A connection lets the phone check for updates, download cloud content and complete Google services setup without consuming mobile data.
  4. Review the terms and privacy notices. Read and accept the agreements required to continue. Some optional services may have separate switches.
  5. Make the Google account and Google services choices. You can generally add a Google account during setup or skip it and add one later. OPPO says signing in enables Google Play downloads, app backup and synchronization, and protection features. If you skip the account, some apps and backup functions will not be available until you add it.
  6. Choose whether to import data. The setup wizard may offer a direct import or an option to set the phone up as new. If you choose the built-in import, follow the on-screen pairing instructions. You can also finish setup and run Clone Phone afterward from the phone’s app list.
  7. Create a screen lock. Set a PIN, password or pattern when prompted. Add fingerprint or face unlock only after the basic lock is working; biometric data itself cannot be migrated from the old phone.
  8. Finish the desktop setup. Allow the phone to apply updates and reach the home screen before starting a large transfer, unless the wizard takes you directly into the supported migration flow.

OPPO’s model-specific quick-start documentation illustrates why labels cannot be universal: the CPH2247 guide identifies ColorOS V11.3 and presents its own Clone Phone screens. Use your device’s prompts rather than trying to reproduce a menu path from a different model. The guide is available as a CPH2247 Quick Start Guide.

Choose the migration route that matches your old phone

Old phone Recommended route Important conditions
OPPO, realme or OnePlus Clone Phone on both phones, using the in-app QR pairing flow Both devices must expose the required Clone Phone workflow; available categories depend on the models and ColorOS versions.
Other Android phone Open Clone Phone on the new OPPO and install or open it on the old phone when prompted Approve the requested connection and permissions, scan the QR code, then select categories.
iPhone Select iPhone as the source in Clone Phone or use the import option offered during OPPO setup iCloud content may need to be downloaded first. Do not expect iPhone app data or every iCloud item to move.
Phone that cannot run the pairing app Use account synchronization or a computer backup for the data categories that support it The exact alternatives depend on where the data is stored and on the apps involved; Clone Phone cannot migrate every category.

There is no official transfer-time, success-rate or capacity figure for these workflows. The duration depends on the amount and type of data, the phones and their connection, so do not plan around an assumed number of minutes.

Transfer from another OPPO, realme or OnePlus phone

When both phones offer Clone Phone, the process is usually the shortest because the app can identify the source and destination roles itself.

  1. Open Clone Phone on the new OPPO. If the app is not visible, use the app search or the setup wizard’s import option.
  2. Choose the option indicating that this is the new phone, then select the old phone’s platform or brand when the app asks.
  3. Open Clone Phone on the old device and choose the option indicating that it is the old phone. If the app is missing, install it only from the route shown by the new phone’s instructions.
  4. Use the new phone to scan the QR code displayed on the old phone, or follow the alternative connection method the app presents.
  5. Approve the connection and any requested access on both phones. Keep the screens awake and the phones close together.
  6. Review the category list. Select the contacts, messages, photos, videos, music, apps and other categories you actually want, then start the transfer.
  7. Wait for Clone Phone’s completion message. Do not factory-reset or trade in the old phone until you have opened important files and signed in to critical apps on the new one.

The source phone retains its files after the transfer. The destination can still have missing items when an app is incompatible, a category is not offered, or data is tied to hardware or security credentials.

Transfer from another Android phone

Clone Phone can work with Android phones from other manufacturers, but the old phone generally needs the Clone Phone app installed or opened during pairing.

  1. On the new OPPO, launch Clone Phone and choose the path for an old Android phone.
  2. Follow the displayed instruction to install or open Clone Phone on the old Android device. Use the app source and package identified by the new phone rather than downloading an unrelated migration utility.
  3. On the old phone, identify it as the old or sending device. On the new OPPO, identify it as the new or receiving device.
  4. Scan the QR code shown by the receiving phone, or use the alternate pairing prompt. Grant the connection and storage permissions requested by the app.
  5. Keep Wi-Fi enabled on the old phone and the new phone’s personal hotspot enabled as OPPO describes. This is a local phone-to-phone connection; OPPO says Clone Phone does not consume mobile data for the transfer.
  6. Select the categories offered by the app and start. If a category is unavailable, it is not supported in that particular device combination; do not assume that a missing checkbox will appear after restarting.
  7. When Clone Phone reports completion, inspect the destination before disconnecting or erasing the old phone.

Android data that normally needs a separate sign-in

Clone Phone can move many app packages and common records, but an app may require you to sign in again, download protected content or re-register the device. Banking, password-manager, authenticator and encrypted-messaging apps commonly use their own transfer or recovery process. Keep the old phone available until every account that matters has been tested.

Transfer from an iPhone

OPPO documents two related iPhone scenarios. During its initial setup import option, the phone can ask you to sign in to iCloud; that route is described as transferring Contacts and Albums, including photos and videos. In the separate Clone Phone workflow, OPPO notes that images and videos stored in iCloud must be downloaded to the phone before they can be moved. These descriptions are not a promise that all iCloud content, iPhone app data or app settings will transfer.

  1. On the new OPPO, open Clone Phone or choose the iPhone import option in the setup wizard.
  2. Select iPhone as the source and read the prompt explaining whether the current flow uses iCloud sign-in, an app pairing step or both.
  3. Connect the OPPO to Wi-Fi. If the photos or videos exist only in iCloud, allow them to download to the source or to the location specified by the app before starting the copy.
  4. Enter the Apple ID details requested by the official flow. Never enter those credentials into an unrelated app or a link received from an unknown source.
  5. Approve the connection on the iPhone if the app requests permission, then choose the categories that are actually listed.
  6. Start the transfer and leave both phones connected and close. Large photo libraries can require substantial storage and network time, but OPPO publishes no standard duration.
  7. After completion, open Contacts, Photos and Messages on the OPPO and check representative older and newer items. Reinstall iPhone apps from Google Play where an Android version exists and use each service’s account recovery process for data that did not migrate.

ColorOS 14 quick setup: when the nearby-device flow applies

OPPO has a separate quick-setup procedure for some ColorOS 14 phones. It uses nearby-device discovery, Bluetooth, a QR code and the old phone’s screen-lock password. OPPO’s compatibility note says the old device should run ColorOS 11.3 or later and Clone Phone should be version 14.2.0 or later. Those are requirements for that documented quick-setup path, not universal requirements for every Clone Phone transfer.

  1. Start the quick-setup option on the new ColorOS 14 OPPO when it appears.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth on the old phone and keep the devices nearby.
  3. Use the old phone to scan the QR code shown by the new phone, following the prompt on each screen.
  4. Enter the old phone’s screen-lock password when requested so the devices can authorize the connection.
  5. Review the available categories, start the copy and wait for the completion notice.

If the nearby-device option does not appear, the model, region, ColorOS release or Clone Phone version may not support that exact flow. Return to the standard Clone Phone route rather than changing security settings to force it.

What Clone Phone transfers—and what it cannot

The category list is generated for the specific source and destination pair. OPPO describes common transferable data but also lists clear exclusions.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Data type What to expect
Contacts, messages, photos, videos and music Commonly offered when the source and destination support the category. Check the migration screen and verify representative items afterward.
Apps Some apps can be copied or reinstalled, but incompatible apps and their data do not migrate. Protected app content may require a fresh sign-in or the app maker’s own backup.
System or storage data Some system or storage categories may be offered, but a complete system image is not promised.
Transit or access cards and other hardware-bound data OPPO says data tied to phone hardware, including transit or access cards, cannot be migrated.
Face data, fingerprints and lock-screen passwords Security data cannot be migrated. Enrol biometrics and set a new lock on the OPPO.
System-clone data OPPO identifies system-clone data as non-migratable.
iCloud-only photos and videos Download them first when the iPhone workflow requires local files; the setup import description specifically mentions Contacts and Albums, including photos and videos.

Because support is category- and device-dependent, the checkboxes shown by Clone Phone are the authoritative list for your transfer. A category that is absent is not evidence that the old phone is damaged.

Make a separate OPPO backup on a computer

A computer copy is useful before migration, before a repair and before a factory reset. OPPO’s computer-backup guidance describes creating a local backup, then copying the backup and selected media folders to a computer with a compatible USB data cable. The exact Settings path differs by ColorOS version, so use Settings search for Backup or Back up and reset and follow the label on your phone.

  1. Open the phone’s backup or backup-and-reset settings and create a local backup. Wait for the phone to report that it is complete.
  2. Connect the OPPO to the computer with a USB cable that supports data, not charging only.
  3. Unlock the phone and choose the file-transfer or data-access mode if a USB notification appears.
  4. On the computer, copy the local backup folder and any selected DCIM, Pictures, Movies, Music or document folders to a clearly named location. Keep the original folder structure until you know which files you need.
  5. Open several copied photos, videos and documents on the computer to confirm that the copy is readable.
  6. Keep at least one copy off the phone before resetting it.

OPPO warns that a factory reset erases the phone’s storage, including local backups. A backup that exists only on the phone is therefore not protection against a reset.

Verify the new phone before erasing the old one

Verification catches gaps that a Clone Phone completion message cannot identify.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • People and communication: search for several contacts, send a test message and check recent conversation history.
  • Media: open photos and videos from different dates, including items that were stored in cloud services.
  • Accounts: launch email, cloud storage, banking, work and social apps; complete their sign-in or recovery steps instead of assuming copied app data is valid.
  • Authentication: confirm that your authenticator, passkeys and recovery codes work before signing out of the old phone. Security data such as fingerprints and lock-screen credentials must be created again.
  • Files: inspect Downloads, Documents and recordings if those categories were important to you.
  • Calls and connectivity: insert or activate the SIM or eSIM as directed by your carrier, make a test call and confirm mobile data.
  • Storage: compare the new phone’s used space with the categories you selected. A lower total is expected when unsupported or cloud-only data was excluded, but investigate any missing priority category.

Only after this checklist and any computer backup are complete should you wipe, trade in or give away the old phone.

Troubleshoot common transfer problems

The QR code will not scan

Keep both screens awake, increase the display brightness and move the phones close together. Confirm that you started the old-phone and new-phone roles on the correct devices. If the app offers a different pairing method, use that prompt. Do not reset either phone merely because the first scan failed.

The phones disconnect during transfer

Reconnect both phones to power, keep them close, and ensure the old phone’s Wi-Fi and the new phone’s hotspot are enabled as OPPO describes. Close unrelated heavy apps and restart Clone Phone if the session is abandoned. Re-run the transfer for the missing categories; leave the old phone untouched until the new copy is verified.

Photos or videos are missing from an iPhone

Determine whether the items are local or only in iCloud. The iPhone workflow may require Wi-Fi and a prior download of iCloud images and videos. Check the iPhone’s available local storage and the category list shown by Clone Phone, then retry after the files are available locally.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

An app is present but its data is not

OPPO explicitly excludes incompatible apps and app data, and many services protect their databases. Update or reinstall the Android version from Google Play, sign in, and use the service’s own backup or account-recovery feature. Keep the old phone available for one-time codes and export functions.

The new phone already contains important data

Stop before starting Clone Phone and copy that data to a computer or another safe location. OPPO warns that existing destination apps and app data may be overwritten. After making a backup, repeat the migration and select only the categories you need.

You are about to factory-reset the old phone

Do not reset until contacts, media, messages, files and critical accounts have been checked on the OPPO. Also confirm that any local backup has been copied off the phone, because OPPO says a reset erases local backups along with other phone storage.
