To track a product price with ChangeTower, create a monitor for the exact product listing URL, select the price with Specific Elements or describe the alert you want with Smart Monitor, then choose a check schedule and notification method. ChangeTower records an initial snapshot and alerts you after a later scheduled check detects a qualifying change; it does not promise instant alerts.

Choose the right product page

Use the URL of the specific product or listing whose price you want to watch—not the retailer’s homepage or a search-results page. A page focused on one item makes it easier to monitor the price and availability you actually care about. ChangeTower says it can monitor product pages, marketplace listings, and fee or rate pages for changes (ChangeTower Help Center).

Before setting up a monitor, open the URL and confirm that it shows the right item, price, and currency. If the same product has separate listings for colors, sizes, sellers, or regions, monitor the listing that matches your intended purchase.

Create a ChangeTower monitor

  1. Open New Monitor. Choose single-page monitoring for one product. For multiple listings, choose the multi-page or bulk workflow and confirm your plan has sufficient page capacity.
  2. Enter the exact product URL. Use the listing page, not a category page or search query.
  3. Choose how ChangeTower should detect a change.
    • Specific Elements: Select the price area in the page view when you want to focus on that part of the page.
    • Smart Monitor: Describe the condition in plain language, for example, “Notify me when the price changes.” You can also describe a threshold or a stock change; ChangeTower gives “Alert me if the price drops below $200, or it goes out of stock” as an example, not a universal recommendation.
  4. Set the check frequency. Pick an available interval that fits how quickly you need to know. Intervals depend on the plan; see the plan table below.
  5. Choose notifications. Enable email alerts if you want them. ChangeTower also documents Slack and webhook options for routing notifications into team workflows.
  6. Create the monitor and review detections. ChangeTower takes an initial snapshot, then compares later scheduled checks. Find detected changes on the Notifications page.

What to expect from price alerts

The first snapshot establishes a baseline; it is not itself a price-change alert. An alert arrives only after a subsequent check detects a qualifying change. Because checks run on a schedule, a price can change between checks, and the retailer’s displayed price may differ by the time you visit or complete a purchase. Treat the alert as a prompt to verify the current listing rather than a price guarantee (ChangeTower FAQ).

For multiple URLs, use the multi-page or bulk workflow and verify the import process and capacity against your plan. ChangeTower’s help guide discusses importing hundreds or thousands of URLs, but the number you can monitor and the available cadence depend on plan terms. If those pages have different layouts but need the same rule, the help guide says Smart Monitor can be useful for applying common criteria across them.

ChangeTower’s pricing page also lists a five-day paid-plan trial. Its product page advertises checks as often as every five minutes, but plan-level availability varies; the pricing page’s listed intervals are daily for Free and Lite, hourly for Essential, every 20 minutes for Business, and custom for Enterprise. Do not assume the shortest advertised interval is included with every plan. Check current terms at ChangeTower pricing.

When ScreenshotNeo is a useful alternative

ChangeTower is the relevant tool here for recurring price monitoring and alerts. If you instead need to capture a page as an image or PDF—for example, to keep a visual record alongside your monitoring workflow—ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server, not a replacement price-alert monitor. Its clean-shot handling accepts cookie or consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Only clean shots are billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status.

Troubleshoot missed or unhelpful alerts

  • The monitor tracks the wrong price: Check that you entered the exact product listing URL and, if using Specific Elements, selected the price rather than a nearby element such as shipping or a product description.
  • No alert arrived after setup: The initial snapshot creates the baseline. Wait for a later scheduled check to detect a qualifying change, and confirm the monitor’s cadence and notification settings.
  • The alert came later than expected: Checks are periodic, not instantaneous. Review the interval your plan provides and choose a faster eligible cadence if available.
  • You need to watch many listings: Use the multi-page or bulk workflow, then check both your plan’s page limit and the cadence that applies at that scale.
  • You want an alert on a specific condition: Try a Smart Monitor instruction that clearly states the condition, such as a price threshold or restock, and review the detected changes on the Notifications page.
