The most dependable way to track Pokémon TCG Pocket expansions is to use two sources for different jobs: confirm the launch announcement, region and stated time on the official Pokémon TCG Pocket website or Pokémon news page, then use a maintained set index such as Serebii’s Pokémon TCG Pocket Set Lists for the chronological date, set size and checklist links. Searchable databases are useful for finding individual cards, packs, decks and set pages, but they are independent references rather than the authority for an announced launch.
Keep the source region, timezone and the time you checked. A calendar can show different dates for the same release when one page presents a regional launch time and another converts it to a local date. Record both values instead of silently replacing one with the other.
The two-source method
Release tracking works best when you separate launch authority from day-to-day collection data. No single page is guaranteed to provide the announcement wording, regional timestamp, complete checklist and variant breakdown at the same time.

Use the official page first
When a new announcement appears, copy the exact set name, announcement date, launch date, launch time and region into your notes. Preserve the page’s wording rather than converting it immediately to your own timezone. If the announcement mentions a feature, pack, event or availability window, store that note alongside the date so you do not mistake an event start for the expansion launch.

Use the index for the working calendar
After you have captured the official announcement, open Serebii’s set index. Its table is designed for chronological scanning and links each named expansion to a detailed checklist. Use its date and card count as your practical calendar fields, while retaining the official date and timezone in separate columns.
Use the database for card-level searches
For a question such as whether a particular Pokémon is in a set, which pack contains a card, or which cards are in a deck, a searchable Pocket database is faster than paging through an announcement. Open the set-specific checklist and note whether the database separates numbered cards from secret, alternate-art, foil or parallel variants.
Why two sites can show different release dates
A one-day difference does not automatically mean that one source is wrong. The usual cause is a launch timestamp displayed for one region and a calendar date displayed after conversion to another region.

Fantastical Parade example
The official Fantastical Parade announcement gives a January 2026 launch time. The set index records January 29, 2026. Keep the official launch wording and its original timezone in your notes, then retain January 29 as the index’s calendar value. Without the official page specifying a different date, treat the apparent mismatch as a timezone or regional presentation difference rather than changing one source to match the other.

Deluxe Pack: Mega example
The official UK regional page for Deluxe Pack: Mega gives September 29, 2026, while set indexes record September 30, 2026. Label the first value as the UK page’s regional date and the second as the index date. Do not collapse them into a single unlabeled date; a reader in another region may legitimately see the release on the adjacent calendar day.
A safe rule for your tracker
- Store the official date and time exactly as published.
- Add the region or timezone in the same cell or an adjacent field.
- Store the index date as a separate value, not as a replacement.
- Write a short note explaining any one-day difference.
- Only change a date after an official page updates or clarifies the launch.
Current Pokémon TCG Pocket set chronology
The table below reproduces the named sets and card counts in the supplied 2026 index snapshot. Dates are calendar dates as shown by the index. Recheck the live index before publishing or relying on this list: the page is described as containing 23 named main-set entries, while the snapshot supplied here names 22 rows. One named entry may therefore be absent from this particular extract. Promo-A and Promo-B are maintained separately and are not folded into the main-set rows.

An independent Pokémon TCG Pocket fan database reports 24 indexed sets and 4,314 indexed cards in its 2026 total. That figure is a database total, not an official Pokémon Company statistic. It may use a different set boundary or count variant categories differently from the index table, so do not use it to overwrite an official or index count without checking the database’s counting rules.
What a card count actually includes
“Total cards” is meaningful only when you know what the source counts. One checklist may count numbered cards, while another may include secret cards, alternate art, foil treatments or parallel versions as separate entries.

Numbered cards
Numbered cards are the core sequence most collectors use to measure progress. Record the highest number and the number of entries present, but do not assume that the numbered sequence is the complete set.
Secret and alternate-art cards
Secret cards and alternate-art versions can sit outside the regular numbering. If a database exposes these as separate categories, give them their own fields or tabs. A collector who has every numbered card may still have an incomplete set under a variant-inclusive checklist.
Foil and parallel variants
Foil or parallel treatments may be listed separately, combined with a base card or omitted from a high-level count. Record the source’s terminology in your tracker so that two counts can be compared without guessing what each one includes.
Main expansions versus promos
Serebii separates Promo-A and Promo-B from the main expansions. Create separate promo rows or a separate promo sheet. Mixing promotional releases into a main-set total makes the chronology and completion percentage difficult to audit.

Build a personal release-and-card tracker
A spreadsheet is sufficient. The goal is not to duplicate every database field; it is to preserve enough context that you can explain a date or count months later.
Use one row per main set
Create these columns in this order:
- Series or set code: use the code shown by the checklist when one exists.
- Set name: copy the official spelling, including punctuation and capitalization.
- Official announcement: paste the announcement URL when you have it.
- Announcement date and timezone: keep the original regional presentation.
- Index release date: enter the calendar date shown by the maintained set index.
- Total card count: identify whether it is numbered-only or variant-inclusive.
- Booster-pack names: list each pack associated with the set.
- Checklist URL: link to the detailed set page you use for card-level checking.
- Last verified: record the date and time you last compared the sources.
Add a separate promo record
Use a second row or a separate sheet for Promo-A and Promo-B. Include the same verification fields, but label the collection type as promo. This preserves the distinction used by the set index and prevents promotional cards from inflating a main expansion’s total.
Track completion without hiding variants
If your database distinguishes categories, add columns for numbered, secret, alternate-art, foil and parallel entries. Keep the raw counts and your personal owned count separate. A single “complete” checkbox cannot show whether you completed the numbered list only or every variant category.
Update the tracker when a new set is announced
- Capture the official announcement. Copy the set name, the exact launch date and time, the region or timezone, and any stated pack or feature information.
- Create a provisional row. Enter the announcement values immediately and mark the checklist and card count as pending if they have not been published.
- Check the maintained set index. Add its chronological date, card count and detailed checklist link. Keep the official date in its own field.
- Compare after launch. Open the independent database’s set page and check the card sequence, packs, decks and variant categories.
- Explain differences. If the dates differ by one day, write the regions and timezones. If counts differ, state whether one source includes variants or promos.
- Stamp the verification. Enter the date and time of your comparison. A later edit can then be distinguished from the original announcement.
Troubleshoot common tracking problems
The official page and index differ by one day
Check the official page’s regional label and launch time before doing any conversion. Keep both dates with labels. The Fantastical Parade and Deluxe Pack: Mega examples show why a one-day difference can be a presentation issue rather than a contradiction.

The card totals do not match
Compare the definitions before comparing the numbers. Check whether one total includes secret, alternate-art, foil or parallel cards, and whether either total includes promos. Also check whether the database has added newly identified entries since your previous visit.
A set is missing from one source
Determine whether you are looking at a main-set table, a promo section or a database category. The index separates Promo-A and Promo-B, and the supplied chronology does not contain every named entry implied by the index’s stated 23-row total. Do not fill a missing row from memory; open the current live table and record the source that confirms it.
The checklist appears incomplete on launch day
Announcements and checklists are published for different purposes. Keep the official launch row, mark the card list as pending, and revisit the index and database after the set page has been populated. Do not report a provisional list as complete.

Retain the previous value in a change note with its verification timestamp, then enter the new value and the reason given by the checklist if one is available. This creates an audit trail instead of making the tracker appear to have been wrong from the beginning.

A maintenance routine that stays accurate
- Check official Pokémon news when a new announcement is expected.
- Review the set index after launch for a finalized date, count and checklist link.
- Use the searchable database for card-level verification rather than treating its aggregate total as official.
- Keep original regions and timezones in every date note.
- Separate main expansions, Promo-A and Promo-B.
- Record whether counts include numbered cards only or additional variants.
- Update the last-verified timestamp after every comparison.
- Recheck the latest set and card count immediately before publishing a guide, because independent databases and indexes are updated.
