To test a website at 375 pixels wide in Chrome, open DevTools, turn on the Device Toolbar, select Responsive, and set the viewport width to 375. Choose a height, then capture either the visible viewport or the full page, depending on what you need to inspect. For a consistent comparison, note the device type and device pixel ratio (DPR) as well as the dimensions.
Set Chrome’s viewport to 375 pixels
- Open the page you want to inspect in Chrome.
- Open DevTools, then select Toggle device toolbar. You can also use the toolbar’s device-mode control.
- In the dimensions controls, select Responsive.
- Enter 375 for the width and the height you want to inspect. Chrome’s responsive presets include 375 pixels, but entering the value directly makes the intended width explicit.
The 375-pixel value is a viewport preset documented by Chrome for Developers; it is not a statistic about typical phones or their users. Chrome’s interface may change between versions, so labels can differ from the steps above.
Choose the right device and capture settings
Responsive width is not the whole device configuration
A 375-pixel-wide viewport sets the CSS layout width, but it does not by itself specify every aspect of a mobile device. Device Mode includes device types that affect whether Chrome uses mobile or desktop viewport rendering behavior and which interaction events are fired. Choose the mode that matches what you are trying to check.
Also distinguish CSS pixels from device pixel ratio (DPR). DPR is the ratio of physical screen pixels to logical CSS pixels; it affects how Chrome draws content on HiDPI displays. A 375-CSS-pixel viewport alone therefore does not establish the screenshot’s physical raster dimensions. For repeatable comparisons, record the width, height, device type, DPR, and capture mode.

- THE PERFECT VIEW: The 178/178 degree extra wide viewing angle prevents the shifting of colors when viewed from an offset angle, so you always get consistent colors
- WORK SEAMLESSLY: This sleek monitor is virtually bezel-free on three sides, so the screen looks even bigger for the viewer. This minimalistic design also allows for seamless multi-monitor setups that enhance your workflow and boost productivity
- A BETTER READING EXPERIENCE: For busy office workers, EasyRead mode provides a more paper-like experience for when viewing lengthy documents
Use media queries to locate responsive breakpoints
- In the Device Toolbar, open More options.
- Select Show media queries.
- Inspect the displayed max-width and min-width breakpoints. Select a point around a breakpoint to check how the page changes; Chrome’s documentation describes how to reveal the corresponding source declaration.
This is useful when a layout changes near 375 pixels: test just below and above the relevant breakpoint rather than assuming that the exact 375-pixel view explains the whole responsive behavior.
Capture the visible viewport or the whole page
- Open More options in the Device Toolbar.
- Choose Capture screenshot for the currently visible viewport.
- Choose Capture a full size screenshot when the image should include content beyond the visible area.
These options produce different artifacts. When sharing a screenshot or comparing results over time, state which one you captured. If you are using a device-specific mode and want the device frame in the image, enable the frame before capturing.

What a 375-pixel Chrome test can—and cannot—show
Chrome describes Device Mode as a way to “approximate how your page looks and performs on a mobile device.” It is a simulation running on a desktop or laptop, not a real phone. It can help inspect responsive appearance and approximate mobile behavior, but it cannot reproduce every mobile-device property; for example, desktop and mobile CPU architectures differ. Use an actual mobile device when the question depends on real hardware behavior, and do not treat a Device Mode screenshot as proof of real-device performance.
Troubleshooting a 375-pixel screenshot
- The page does not look like the mobile layout: Confirm that Device Mode is enabled and check the selected device type and rendering behavior, not just the width.
- The screenshot’s pixel dimensions differ from 375 pixels: Check DPR and the capture mode. A 375-CSS-pixel viewport does not, by itself, determine the output raster’s physical dimensions.
- The screenshot omits content lower on the page: Use Capture a full size screenshot instead of the viewport-only capture.
- The layout changes unexpectedly near 375 pixels: Display media queries and inspect the relevant min-width or max-width breakpoint. Compare widths just below and above it.
- You need to confirm actual phone behavior: Repeat the check on a real mobile device; desktop Device Mode is an approximation.
- You cannot find a menu label: Chrome’s interface can change. Look for the device toolbar’s dimensions and More options menu, or consult the current Chrome Device Mode documentation.
