For a quick test, use Chrome DevTools Device Mode, enter the verified CSS viewport dimensions for the exact Galaxy M model, set mobile behavior and its device pixel ratio (DPR) if known, then capture the viewport or the full page.
Why there is no one Galaxy M screen size
“Galaxy M series” names a family, not one device profile. The CSS viewport can vary by model, browser, display scaling and orientation. Responsive CSS generally reacts to the viewport in CSS pixels, not the physical pixels in the phone’s display panel. DPR describes the relationship between those hardware pixels and CSS pixels: it is the number of screen pixels Chrome uses to draw one CSS pixel. Chrome’s Device Mode guide explains this distinction.
Get the CSS viewport dimensions for the particular phone and browser you want to target, or measure them on that phone. If you know only the panel’s physical resolution, don’t enter it as the CSS viewport without first establishing the DPR and browser viewport behavior.
Test and capture a Galaxy M-sized page in Chrome DevTools
- Open the page and DevTools. In desktop Chrome, open the website you want to test, then open DevTools and toggle the device toolbar.
- Set the target viewport. In the device toolbar’s Dimensions list, select Responsive. Enter the verified CSS viewport width and height for the specific Galaxy M model and browser. Do not substitute the physical panel resolution.
- Choose mobile behavior. Set the device type to Mobile to emulate mobile rendering and touch behavior. Chrome also distinguishes Mobile (no touch), Desktop and Desktop (touch).
- Set DPR if known. Configure the device pixel ratio for the target model when you have a reliable value. DPR affects how Chrome renders CSS pixels on a high-density display; it does not turn a generic viewport into an exact device profile.
- Check orientation and breakpoints. Inspect portrait and landscape, and use the media-query display to see which CSS breakpoints apply as the viewport changes. Chrome provides rotation controls in Device Mode.
- Capture the right area. In DevTools’ More options menu, choose Capture screenshot for the visible viewport, or Capture a full size screenshot to include content beyond the current viewport. These produce different-sized images.
- Validate on the relevant browser or phone. If Samsung Internet compatibility matters, test its behavior separately. For hardware- or browser-specific issues, use the actual target phone; Chrome documents remote debugging for inspecting a page running on a mobile device.
Chrome’s generic responsive presets include Mobile S (320px wide), Mobile M (375px), Mobile L (425px), Tablet (768px), Laptop (1024px), Laptop L (1440px) and 4K (2560px). These are general presets, not Galaxy M profiles. Use one only as a rough breakpoint check when the exact model dimensions are unavailable, not as evidence that a page matches a particular Galaxy M phone.

What Device Mode can—and cannot—tell you
Chrome describes Device Mode as a first-order approximation of mobile behavior. The page is still running on the desktop computer, not on a phone, so emulation cannot fully reproduce mobile CPU performance or every browser-specific behavior. A DevTools screenshot is useful for repeatable layout checks, but it is not proof that the page renders identically on a Galaxy M device.
For Samsung Internet testing, Samsung recommends Chrome developer tools or user-agent switching to verify content. Its guidance describes setting the desired user-agent string and screen resolution; that is a way to check content, not a guarantee that desktop emulation duplicates Samsung Internet on a phone. Troubleshooting common mismatches
- The page looks too wide or narrow. Check that you entered CSS viewport dimensions rather than the panel’s physical pixel resolution. Confirm the exact phone model, browser and orientation.
- Responsive breakpoints don’t match the phone. Verify the target viewport width and DPR, then inspect Chrome’s media-query display. A generic 320px, 375px or 425px preset is not a model-specific Galaxy M setting.
- Touch interactions do not behave as expected. Confirm the device type is set to Mobile rather than Desktop or Mobile (no touch). Verify on the physical phone if the result depends on actual touch or browser behavior.
- The screenshot cuts off page content. Use Capture a full size screenshot for content beyond the visible viewport; Capture screenshot captures the current viewport.
- Samsung Internet differs from Chrome. Test the page in Samsung Internet or use Samsung’s recommended verification approach, then confirm important differences on the actual target device.
- The emulated page is fast but the phone is slow. Desktop Device Mode does not run the page on mobile hardware. Check performance on the phone when CPU or device-specific behavior matters.
