Check the store’s payment or help page for the exact wallet name, then look for that wallet’s button or logo on the product page or checkout. Those are the clearest signs that a merchant offers it for that shopping context—but a wallet button may depend on your device, browser, region, and payment setup.
Check the store’s payment information first
Open the merchant’s FAQ, payment-method page, or checkout help page and search for the exact wallet name, such as Apple Pay or Google Pay. A general “secure checkout” badge does not tell you which payment methods the store accepts.
For Apple Pay, Apple identifies an Apple Pay button, Apple Pay listed as a payment method, or the Apple Pay symbol as signs that it can be used online: Apple’s guide to where you can use Apple Pay. Google says you can pay with a saved Google Wallet payment method when an app or website offers Google Pay: Google Pay Help: Pay on an app or website.
Look for the wallet button on the store page or checkout
Inspect the product page and checkout for the wallet’s actual button or logo. A card-network logo alone does not establish that the merchant offers a digital wallet, and an unrelated wallet logo does not prove that it accepts the one you want to use.

Apple distinguishes online Apple Pay acceptance from in-store contactless acceptance. Seeing a contactless symbol at a physical location is not proof that the store’s website supports Apple Pay.
Understand why a wallet option may not appear
Merchant acceptance and shopper eligibility are separate. A store may support a wallet, while the current device, browser, region, or wallet setup prevents the option from appearing. Apple’s developer documentation explains that canMakePayments checks whether a device can make Apple Pay payments, but does not establish that the user has a provisioned card; a separate capability check can report credential status: Apple Pay availability checks.

Apple Pay availability varies by market and browser. Eligible iPhone and iPad users may also be able to use Apple Pay on participating websites in compatible third-party browsers by scanning a code and completing authorization on their device; this depends on the supported system version and market. See Apple’s third-party browser guidance and Apple’s merchant information.
Browser and device requirements can also affect payment options more generally. For example, GOV.UK Pay’s payment documentation describes supported browser and device conditions for its payment service. A button’s visibility is not always a simple yes-or-no indicator of what the merchant accepts across every setup.

What to do if the wallet button is missing
- Recheck the merchant’s payment list. Look for the exact wallet name rather than relying on a generic security badge or a card logo.
- Check your setup. Confirm that you are in a supported country or region, using a compatible device and browser, and that the wallet is set up with an eligible payment credential.
- Try a supported device or browser if practical. A different supported setup may expose a payment option that does not appear in your current context.
- Ask the merchant if it remains unclear. Google directs order questions to the merchant. Keep another payment method available until the order is confirmed.
Confirm that your card can be used
Seeing Apple Pay offered does not guarantee that every card in Apple Wallet will work for that purchase. Apple says the merchant must also accept the payment network associated with the card. If the wallet appears but your chosen card is not accepted, another eligible card may be needed.

- Does the merchant explicitly list or display the wallet?
- Does your current device and browser support the wallet’s checkout flow?
- Is the wallet available for this purchase in your country or region?
- Does your wallet contain an eligible payment credential, and does the merchant accept its card network?
- Will checkout require a redirect or a companion device, such as scanning a code with an iPhone or iPad?
These checks are useful for Apple Pay and Google Pay, but wallet rules and merchant integrations vary. The merchant’s own payment information is the best store-specific starting point; consult the wallet provider for current device, browser, and regional conditions.
