Start with the ad’s information panel, then check for content-provenance details and verify the casino, spokesperson, offer, and licence independently. An AI label can indicate that AI was involved, but it does not establish that an ad is truthful or that the operator is legitimate. No dependable visual or audio telltale has been established specifically for online casino ads, and no label does not prove that AI was not used.
Check the ad’s information panel first
Look for an option such as “About this Ad” or “How this ad was made” in the platform’s ad-information controls. Google says these features can show details about AI use. Google also says designated AI-created or edited assets may receive visible overlays in campaigns targeting the European Union, India, and New York. These are Google-specific controls, not a universal feature across advertising platforms. Google explains its AI-generated content disclosure controls.
A label is a useful signal, but it is not comprehensive proof either way. Labels may come from an advertiser’s disclosure, a platform recognizing assets made with its own tools, or provenance information. Google also cautions that using its AI-label setting does not itself guarantee compliance with regulations.
Look for provenance information
If the image or video offers Content Credentials or similar provenance details, inspect them for information about where the media originated and how it was edited. Ofcom describes provenance metadata, including the C2PA standard, as one way platforms can identify and label content. Ofcom also notes that advertiser or creator self-disclosure is the simplest detection route, but it depends on the person acting honestly. Ofcom’s attribution toolkit discusses these approaches.

Provenance can be absent, including when media has been reposted or altered. And even when present, it describes aspects of content creation or editing; it does not verify an ad’s claims, confirm a spokesperson’s identity, or establish that a casino is licensed.
Verify the casino and its claims separately
Whether AI was involved is a production question. Whether an ad is legitimate and lawful where you live is a separate question. Check the operator and offer regardless of whether the ad carries an AI label:
- Search the relevant gambling regulator’s official register for the named casino or operator. Licensing is jurisdiction-specific; there is no single global lookup that establishes permission everywhere.
- Navigate to the operator’s official website independently rather than following the ad’s link. Compare the domain, promotion, and terms with what the ad says.
- If the ad features a celebrity or other spokesperson, check that person’s official channels or other reliable sources for confirmation of the endorsement.
- Read the eligibility rules and look for responsible-gambling information. For example, Google’s gambling-ad policy requires country-specific eligibility and certification, targeting only approved countries, responsible-gambling information on landing pages, and no targeting of minors. This is a Google platform policy, not a statement of global law. Google’s gambling and games policy.
An AI label does not make a casino trustworthy; the lack of one does not by itself prove fraud or a legal violation. The applicable jurisdiction, ad, operator, and rule all matter.
Treat visual and audio oddities as clues, not tests
Strange text, inconsistent logos, unnatural movement, mismatched lip-sync, or implausible details can be reasons to investigate further. They are not dependable proof that an ad is AI-generated. The available sources do not establish a validated set of visual or audio checks for casino ads, and an AI detector’s output should not be treated as conclusive.
Human judgment is fallible, too. A 2023 UK Competition and Markets Authority Short Report cited a study in which people detected deepfakes 42–77% of the time while reporting confidence of 73–85%. Those figures concern a general deepfake study—not casino advertisements or the accuracy of current detection software. The CMA’s 2023 Short Report.

What AI-disclosure rules can—and cannot—tell you
Disclosure requirements depend on location, content, and who is responsible for it. The European Commission says Article 50 of the EU AI Act applies from 2 August 2026. Its guidance describes provider obligations that include machine-readable marks intended to enable detection of AI-generated or manipulated content, as well as deployer disclosures for defined cases, including deepfakes. Scope and exceptions matter: this does not mean that every AI-assisted advertisement everywhere must carry a visible label. See the European Commission’s AI Act guidance for providers and deployers.
China’s State Administration for Market Regulation has also issued internet-ad identifiability guidance encouraging publishers in its jurisdiction to indicate ads generated using AI or deep-synthesis technology. That guidance should not be mistaken for a worldwide rule. SAMR’s internet-ad identifiability guide.
Compare the three main evidence routes
| Route | Who supplies the signal | What it can indicate | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Advertiser self-disclosure | The advertiser or creator | That AI was used to create or edit the asset, as disclosed | Depends on honest and accurate disclosure; it does not validate the ad’s claims. |
| Platform AI information or detection | The advertising platform | AI use recognized by that platform, including designated assets made or edited with its tools | Platform-specific; available controls and visible labels vary. Google’s labeling does not itself guarantee regulatory compliance. |
| Provenance metadata, such as C2PA Content Credentials | Tools or services that record origin and editing details | Information about a media asset’s origin or edit history | May be missing or lost; it does not establish that the casino, offer, or spokesperson is genuine. |
These signals answer different parts of the question. A platform label or provenance record can increase confidence that AI was involved, but neither is a substitute for checking the operator and its claims. Conversely, a missing signal leaves authorship uncertain.
Why a specific casino ad may remain uncertain
General evidence that gambling businesses use AI does not show that a particular casino made a particular ad with it. The Australian Communications and Media Authority’s 2026 report distinguishes predictive AI from generative AI and notes that some public claims about gambling providers’ AI use are speculative; its evidence covers material available through December 2025. Read ACMA’s report on AI and interactive gambling.
Consumer interest in disclosure is not a detection method, either. In an announcement dated 18 August 2026, the Interactive Advertising Bureau attributed to its proprietary research with Sonata Insights the findings that more than half of respondents wanted disclosure when an ad was fully AI-generated or used AI imagery or video, and that 73% of Gen Z and Millennials said disclosure would increase or have no impact on their purchase likelihood. These are reported preferences, not evidence about whether viewers can accurately identify AI-made ads. See the IAB announcement.
