The availability label under the price is the clearest official signal: “Retiring soon” means LEGO says the set will be retired very soon; “Retired Product” means it is no longer in LEGO’s current assortment and LEGO does not expect more stock. “Temporarily out of stock” and “Sold out” describe stock conditions, not confirmed retirement.
How to check a specific LEGO set
- Open your local LEGO.com shop and search for the exact set name or set number. Using the number helps distinguish sets with similar names.
- On the product page, read the availability text below the price. LEGO says items listed on LEGO.com have a status indicating whether they are currently available: LEGO availability statuses.
- Check the order control or any backorder note as well as the status. A retirement label does not guarantee that the set can still be ordered; the current order state may say “Backorder” or show “Add to Bag.”
- Open your country’s US, UK, or Canada Last Chance to Buy catalog for another official indication of sets LEGO identifies as retiring. Catalogs are regional and change over time, so confirm the exact product page shortly before ordering.
What each LEGO availability label means
| LEGO status | What it tells you | What it does not tell you |
|---|---|---|
| Retiring soon | LEGO says the set will be retired very soon. This is the clearest official signal that retirement is approaching. | It does not promise that stock remains or give a universal retirement date. |
| Retired Product | LEGO says the set is no longer in its current assortment and it will not receive more stock. | It does not establish whether another retailer or a resale seller has one available. |
| Temporarily out of stock | The set cannot be ordered from LEGO now, but LEGO expects more stock in the future. | It is not, by itself, evidence that the set is retiring. |
| Sold out | The set is sold out now. LEGO may receive more stock, but there is no confirmed date. | It does not confirm retirement or a replenishment date. |
| Backorders Accepted | You can order the set on backorder; LEGO provides a stated shipping date. | It is not the same as immediate availability. |
| Available now | The set is currently available to order. | It does not indicate how long it will remain available. |
| Call to check product availability | Stock may be low; LEGO asks shoppers to call to check. | It is not confirmation that a local store has the set. |
| Coming Soon / Pre-Order | The set has not yet been released; pre-orders ship on the date shown. | It is not a retirement status. |
Retirement status and orderability are different
Use the label to understand LEGO’s stated retirement or stock status, then use the current order control to determine whether you can buy it through LEGO now. A set listed as retiring may still be orderable, on backorder, or unavailable. Likewise, an out-of-stock label alone does not establish that retirement is imminent. LEGO’s availability guide defines these labels separately.
Check the shop for your country
LEGO publishes separate Last Chance to Buy pages for the US, UK, and Canada. The pages reviewed on October 4, 2026 displayed different catalog counts and product listings; those live values are not stable statistics and should not be treated as a complete or permanent retirement list. A listing in one country’s catalog does not guarantee the same listing, price, or stock in another market.
When to check a store or another retailer
LEGO Stores and phone support
If LEGO’s product page says “Call to check product availability,” contact LEGO using the availability guidance for your local shop or store. This label means stock may be low, not that stock is confirmed at a particular location.

Other retailers
LEGO says “Exclusives” are available through LEGO.com, LEGO Stores, and select retailers before broader availability; “Hard to Find” describes products that were previously exclusives. These labels describe distribution history, not retirement status. If you look elsewhere after a set retires, verify the exact set number, seller, condition, shipping, and final price directly with that retailer. LEGO’s status information does not confirm third-party inventory.
How to interpret the signal
- “Retiring soon” or an entry in your regional Last Chance to Buy catalog: treat it as LEGO’s official indication that retirement is approaching, and check the product page for current orderability.
- “Temporarily out of stock” or “Sold out” without a retirement label: treat it as a stock update, not proof of retirement.
- “Retired Product”: LEGO no longer expects to restock it; any remaining options must be checked with other sellers.
LEGO does not establish a universal retirement calendar or a fixed retirement date for every set through these statuses. For a particular set, rely on its current regional product page and catalog rather than assuming that an out-of-stock period or a listing elsewhere predicts when it will retire.
