The safest way to buy official Jujutsu Kaisen merchandise is to start with the manufacturer’s own shop or its current authorized-partner directory. Before paying, verify the seller, request photographs of the exact item and packaging, match the product and box to the manufacturer’s listing, and read the copyright and manufacturer markings. A copied logo, a low price, or a hologram sticker by itself cannot prove authenticity.
Start with the seller, not the picture
Counterfeit listings can use the same promotional renders, character art, and logos as a genuine release. Seller verification is therefore the first and strongest filter. Good Smile Company says, “The GOODSMILE ONLINE SHOP is the safest place for you to preorder/purchase our products, but you can also look for our Official Partner Shops.” Use that principle for any Jujutsu Kaisen figure: begin with the maker’s own store or a retailer that appears in the maker’s current partner directory.
Check the exact storefront
- Confirm the seller’s legal or storefront name, location, contact method, and return terms.
- For marketplace listings, distinguish the marketplace itself from the third-party seller fulfilling the order.
- Prefer a retailer identified in the manufacturer’s current partner directory over an anonymous seller with no verifiable business information.
- Be cautious with flea-market apps, social-media sellers, and listings that show only official-looking renders rather than photographs of the item in the seller’s possession.
A marketplace’s buyer-protection policy can help if an item is misrepresented, but it does not make an unverified seller an authorized retailer. Save the listing, seller name, order confirmation, and messages before buying so you have a record if a dispute becomes necessary.
Ask for in-hand photographs before you pay
Good Smile’s bootleg guidance asks buyers to provide specific evidence when seeking help. Request the same evidence before purchase. A genuine seller should be able to photograph the actual package and product, not merely download images from a catalog.

- Request the front of the box. The image should show the complete front panel, logos, character name, and any product identification that is visible at that angle.
- Request the back and both sides. These panels commonly contain copyright, manufacturer, distributor, safety, and language information that a listing render omits.
- Request a photograph of the actual figure or other item. Ask for an image outside the box when the product can be removed without damaging a seal. For a sealed collectible, ask for a clear view through the window and photographs of all box panels.
- Request a close-up of the copyright line. Good Smile specifically asks for a photograph of the copyright text beginning with the © symbol. It may be printed on the back, side, or base of the product or packaging.
- Ask for a date-stamped or seller-specific image when risk is high. A simple note with the seller’s name beside the box helps show that the seller has the item rather than copied a manufacturer image.
Blurry, cropped, heavily watermarked, or repeatedly reused images are not proof of a counterfeit, but they prevent meaningful verification. Treat a seller who refuses reasonable photographs as a higher-risk purchase.
Read the copyright, manufacturer, and distributor blocks
Look for a legible copyright statement, the brand or manufacturer name, and distributor information. Compare those details with the exact product page and the release edition you intend to buy. The wording, punctuation, character names, and company names should be coherent and consistent across the box and product.

Packaging can legitimately differ by region, language, and release. A difference is a reason to investigate, not automatic proof of forgery. Compare the same regional edition and rerelease whenever possible instead of matching your box to an unrelated photograph.
Look for language and character errors
Good Smile’s examples of bootlegs include incorrect Japanese wording and unusual character usage. Inspect Japanese and English text closely, especially the copyright line, warnings, names, and product title. A single typographical error is a risk signal rather than a universal test: Good Smile states that not every bootleg has every characteristic in its examples. Conversely, clean printing does not establish that an item is genuine.

Match the exact product, not just the character
Jujutsu Kaisen has multiple manufacturers, scales, editions, and rereleases. Two figures of the same character may have different poses, bases, accessories, box art, and license markings. Use the manufacturer’s own catalog to confirm that the product category and model actually exist. Good Smile’s official catalog, for example, lists legitimate Jujutsu Kaisen figures and Nendoroids.
Build an exact-match checklist
- Manufacturer and product-line name.
- Character, costume, pose, scale, and included accessories.
- Model number, catalog number, or product code when one is shown.
- Box artwork, window shape, logo placement, and stated dimensions.
- Original release versus rerelease status.
- Sales region and language of the packaging.
Do not accept “same character” as a match. A listing can show a genuine character design while selling a different, unauthorized figure. If the manufacturer’s catalog has no corresponding product, pause the purchase and ask the seller for a clear explanation and documentation.
Understand stickers, seals, and holograms
A missing hologram or license sticker does not automatically mean a Jujutsu Kaisen item is fake. Good Smile explains that some products use printed labels or no sticker at all. Sticker designs can also change between an initial release and a rerelease, and packaging can differ by distribution region.
Use a sticker as supporting evidence
- Compare the sticker with photographs for the same product, release, and region.
- Check whether the manufacturer says that this specific line should carry a sticker.
- Inspect whether the sticker is properly placed, printed, and integrated with the package rather than casually added.
- Never treat a sticker alone as conclusive: counterfeiters can copy sticker artwork, and genuine products may omit it.
Bandai Namco says Bandai Spirits applies stickers with special specifications featuring forgery-prevention processing to certify genuine TAMASHII NATIONS products. The policy also has product exclusions, so first identify whether the exact TAMASHII NATIONS item is covered by the current packaging guidance. An absent sticker on an excluded product is not evidence of a counterfeit.

Evaluate price without using it as a verdict
Price is a useful screening signal, not an authentication method. Compare the asking price with the manufacturer’s original release price and the normal aftermarket range for that exact model, condition, and region. A very low price can reflect a damaged box, a used item, a clearance sale, or a counterfeit; a high price can also be attached to a counterfeit.

Compare two listings with the same evidence standard
When deciding between listings, score the evidence rather than choosing the best-looking photograph. The comparison axes below keep a persuasive seller description from outweighing missing documentation.

If one listing has stronger evidence but costs more, the premium may be the cost of lower risk. If neither listing supplies enough evidence, do not force a choice; find an authorized channel instead.
Use a pre-purchase decision process
- Identify the maker. Find the manufacturer named on the product page or package, then locate its official shop or partner directory.
- Verify the retailer. Confirm that the specific store or seller, not merely the marketplace, is authorized or has a credible return route.
- Match the model. Compare the exact character, pose, accessories, product code, edition, and region.
- Collect photographs. Obtain front, back, side, actual-item, and © copyright images.
- Inspect markings. Read the copyright, manufacturer, distributor, language, seals, and any product-specific anti-forgery feature.
- Check condition and price. Clarify whether the item is new, used, opened, incomplete, damaged, or a rerelease.
- Review recovery options. Confirm the return deadline, refund conditions, payment protections, and seller contact details.
- Buy only when the evidence is coherent. A single copied logo or a seller’s promise should never outweigh missing or contradictory information.
What to do when the item arrives
Keep the outer shipping carton, inner packaging, invoice, and listing screenshots until you have inspected the item. Photograph the box before opening it, then compare the received product with the saved listing and the manufacturer’s product page.

- Check every panel for damage, altered seals, relabeled stickers, and inconsistent printing.
- Compare the figure’s sculpt, paint, joints, accessories, base, and markings with official photographs.
- Confirm that the © line and manufacturer information are present where expected for that edition.
- Document discrepancies with focused, well-lit photographs before discarding packaging.
Do not modify, repaint, or repair a suspected counterfeit before documenting it. Changes can make it harder for a seller, marketplace, or manufacturer to assess the original condition.

Good Smile says it cannot authenticate an item before the buyer has it in hand. If you suspect a counterfeit after delivery, contact the manufacturer with the requested photographs: the front, back, and sides of the package, the actual product, and the © copyright text. Include the purchase source and order information so support can understand the chain of sale.
Good Smile also states that counterfeit items are not covered by its support or refund guarantee. That makes the seller’s return policy and the marketplace’s dispute deadline important recovery tools. Open a return or fraud claim promptly while preserving the item and all packaging, and describe the discrepancy factually rather than asserting a conclusion you cannot document.
Common traps and how to interpret them
“The logo looks perfect, so it is official.”
Counterfeiters can copy official logos. Treat the logo as one element of the package, then verify seller authorization, exact model, copyright text, manufacturer information, and photographs.

“There is no hologram, so it is fake.”
Some genuine products have printed labels or no sticker, and sticker designs can change by release and region. Identify the exact product guidance before drawing a conclusion.
“The box is different from a photo online.”
The photo may show another region, an initial release, or a rerelease. Compare like with like and look for coherent copyright and distributor information.
“The seller has thousands of ratings.”
Ratings describe transactions, not necessarily the authenticity of one collectible. Check the specific seller, listing photographs, model match, and return terms for the item you are buying.

A printable final checklist
- Is the seller the manufacturer or listed in its current partner directory?
- Does the listing show the actual item rather than only promotional renders?
- Do you have clear front, back, and side package photographs?
- Can you read the © copyright text and identify the manufacturer and distributor?
- Does every detail match the exact product, edition, and region?
- Are language, printing, seals, and labels consistent and free of suspicious errors?
- Have you checked whether a sticker is expected for this product, rather than assuming every item needs one?
- Is the price plausible for the condition and completeness?
- Do you have a practical return path and enough time to inspect the item?
- Will you preserve packaging and evidence if the delivered item differs from the listing?
If several answers are “no,” the rational choice is to postpone the purchase and locate an authorized seller. Authenticity is established by a consistent chain of evidence—seller, model, packaging, markings, and purchase protection—not by one visual clue.
