On macOS, Selenium can launch Chrome and save a PNG of the current browser view with driver.save_screenshot("page.png"). Install Selenium, let Selenium Manager handle driver setup in supported configurations, then navigate to the page and save the screenshot. This captures the current browser view; it is not a documented guarantee of a full-page, scrolling capture.
Install Selenium and prepare Chrome

Make sure Google Chrome is installed on your Mac.

Install or update the Selenium Python package. In a terminal, run
python -m pip install -U selenium. If you use a virtual environment, activate it before running the command. -
Use Selenium 4 with Chrome. Selenium’s Chrome guidance says Selenium 4 is compatible with Chrome 75 and later, and that Chrome and ChromeDriver major versions should match. These are the Selenium Project’s documented compatibility guidelines, not a guarantee for every future release. See Chrome-specific functionality.
For most supported configurations, modern Selenium uses Selenium Manager to handle browser and driver setup when a WebDriver is created. You usually do not need to download and configure ChromeDriver manually. Manual installation is still an option. See the Selenium Python documentation.

Save a screenshot of the current browser view
Use webdriver.Chrome() to start Chrome, get() to open a URL, and save_screenshot() to write the current view to a PNG file. The filename should end in .png, as described in Selenium’s WebDriver screenshot documentation.

driver.quit()Save the script as, for example, screenshot.py, then run python screenshot.py from the directory where you want the image. The relative path page.png writes the file into that working directory. Use an absolute path if you want to save it elsewhere, such as "/Users/yourname/Desktop/page.png".
The screenshot call applies to the current browsing context. Selenium’s documentation describes the WebDriver screenshot endpoint as returning an image encoded in Base64; the Python method writes the image to the filename you provide.

Capture one web element instead
If you need only a heading, chart, or other page element, locate it and call its screenshot() method rather than saving the whole current browser view.

driver.quit()Replace h1 with a CSS selector that identifies the element you want. If the selector matches no element, Selenium cannot take the element screenshot; inspect the page and use a selector that exists after it has loaded.
Run Chrome in headless mode
Headless mode runs Chrome without displaying its regular browser window. Create ChromeOptions, add the documented --headless=new argument, and pass the options when constructing the driver:

The cited Selenium screenshot documentation does not establish that the standard WebDriver screenshot call captures the entire scrollable document. Do not treat save_screenshot() as a guaranteed full-page capture. If a full-page image is essential, verify the result for your page and choose an approach that explicitly supports full-page capture.
Common problems and fixes

Chrome does not start: Confirm Chrome is installed and try creating the driver again so Selenium Manager can handle setup in supported configurations. If you manage the driver manually, check that the Chrome and ChromeDriver major versions match.

Driver setup fails: Review the Selenium Manager setup guidance in the Selenium Python documentation. Manual driver installation remains available, but the Chrome/ChromeDriver major-version guidance still applies.

No PNG appears where expected: The script writes a relative filename to its working directory. Run it from the intended directory or use an absolute output path.

Element screenshot fails: Check that the page has loaded and that the CSS selector identifies an element on it. A selector such as

The screenshot omits content below the visible view: The standard call is documented as a current-context screenshot, not a guaranteed capture of the full scrolling page. Use a capture method designed for full-page output when that is the requirement.
