In a Selenium Python notebook, navigate to the page and call driver.save_screenshot('/content/page.png'). This saves a PNG of the browser’s current window in the Colab runtime. It does not, by itself, configure a browser and WebDriver for Colab or download the image to your computer.
Take a screenshot with Selenium
Once a working Selenium WebDriver session is available in your notebook, navigate to the page and save the current browser window:

driver.quit()Replace the example URL with the page you want. The explicit path places the PNG in the notebook runtime. Selenium’s Python API documents save_screenshot(path) as saving the current window, recommends a full path, and returns True or False depending on whether the image was saved successfully: Selenium Python WebDriver API.
What this code does—and what it does not
The example assumes a browser and WebDriver session that can run in the current Colab runtime. It demonstrates the capture step, not a Colab installation recipe. Browser availability and browser–driver compatibility can change; the available Selenium sources do not establish a current Colab-specific setup sequence or version pins, so do not treat an old installation workaround as a verified current procedure.

The method captures the browser’s current window; it should not be described as a guaranteed full-document screenshot. The Selenium guide’s example navigates, saves an image, and closes the session with driver.quit(): Selenium: Working with windows and tabs.
Wait for dynamic content before capturing
Navigation completing does not necessarily mean that asynchronous page content, images, or other elements you care about are ready. If the screenshot is missing content, wait for the relevant page condition before calling save_screenshot. Choose a wait based on the target page and element; the cited screenshot documentation does not prescribe a particular wait strategy.

Capture one element instead of the window
If you only need a component—such as a heading or card—locate its WebElement and use the element screenshot method rather than saving the whole current window. Selenium’s guide demonstrates an element screenshot: Selenium window and element screenshot examples. This is useful when the output should isolate a single page element; it is a different capture scope from the current-window screenshot.
Use screenshot data in memory
If you need to pass the image to another part of your Python workflow instead of writing a file directly, Selenium’s Python API also exposes screenshot data as PNG bytes or base64. Use the API methods documented for those formats in the Selenium Python WebDriver API reference.

Find or export the saved PNG from Colab
/content/page.png is a path in the notebook runtime. Saving the screenshot there and retrieving or persisting that file outside the runtime are separate tasks. Colab’s current file-export steps are not established by the Selenium sources linked here; follow current Colab guidance for downloading or storing notebook files rather than assuming that saving the PNG also downloads it.
Troubleshooting
save_screenshotreturnsFalse: Check that the destination path is writable and that the filename includes the.pngextension. The method’s return value reports whether saving succeeded.- The notebook cannot launch or control a browser: The capture call requires a working WebDriver and browser session. The example does not install or configure them. Check the current Colab runtime and compatible browser–driver setup before debugging the screenshot call itself.
- The image is blank or missing late-loading content: Wait for the specific content you need before capturing; page navigation alone may not mean asynchronous work has finished.
- The image omits content below the visible window: The documented call captures the current window, not a guaranteed full-page image. Verify a browser-specific full-page method and resulting image dimensions if the whole document is required.
- You cannot find the image on your computer: The path is inside the notebook runtime. Use a separate, current Colab-supported export or persistence step.
