Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteOn desktop Firefox, right-click an empty area of a webpage and select Take Screenshot. You can also press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS. Choose a region, a highlighted page element, the full page, or just the visible area, then download the image or copy it. Mozilla’s instructions cover the built-in tool; the steps below are for desktop Firefox.
Take a screenshot with Firefox’s built-in tool
- Open the webpage you want to capture. Right-click an empty part of the page and select Take Screenshot. Alternatively, use Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS. If the context menu does not show the option, use the keyboard shortcut.
- Choose what to capture using the controls on the page, or point at the page to highlight a part and select it.
- Select Download to save a PNG in Firefox’s default download folder, or Copy to put the image on your clipboard. Press Esc to cancel.
Choose the right capture mode
- Custom region: Drag to draw a rectangle around the portion you want. This is useful when you need a crop that does not match an element on the page.
- Highlighted page part: Move the pointer over the page, select the automatically highlighted part, and capture it. Use this for a distinct page element without drawing a box manually.
- Save full page: Capture the entire page, including content below the current viewport.
- Save visible: Capture only the portion currently visible in the browser window.
Add Screenshot to the Firefox toolbar
- Open the Firefox menu and select More Tools > Customize Toolbar.
- Drag the Screenshot button onto the toolbar.
- Select Done, then click the new toolbar button whenever you want to start a capture.
Use Developer Tools for an element or advanced capture
Firefox Developer Tools offer a separate route when you need to capture a specific page node or use controls such as a delay, device-pixel ratio, or filename. Mozilla’s Developer Tools screenshot documentation describes these options.
Show the Developer Tools screenshot button
- Open Developer Tools and open its settings.
- Under Available Toolbox Buttons, enable Take a screenshot of the entire page.
- Use the screenshot icon in the toolbox to capture the page.
Capture a specific element
- Open the Inspector and locate the element in the HTML pane.
- Right-click the node and choose Screenshot Node.
Use the Web Console screenshot helper
The Web Console’s :screenshot helper supports options including --fullpage, --selector, --delay, --dpr, --filename, --clipboard, and --file. These let you request a full-page or selector-based capture, wait before capturing, set the device-pixel ratio, and choose file or clipboard output. Use the command’s help and Mozilla’s documentation for the exact syntax supported by your Firefox version.
Keyboard access and Wayland caveat
Mozilla documents keyboard movement and selection controls in the screenshot interface, including arrow-key movement and Space or Enter to select. Its support article notes that moving the crosshair does not work on Wayland. If you use Wayland and cannot position the crosshair, try selecting a highlighted page part or use the Developer Tools route instead. See Mozilla’s screenshot accessibility notes.

Mozilla says screenshot telemetry includes interactions such as Copy or Save full page, but not the URL or details of the image captured. This is Mozilla’s description of its telemetry, not an independent privacy audit. Details are in Mozilla Support’s article.

ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server offers screenshot tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The Free plan includes 1,000 shots a month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.

- “Take Screenshot” is missing from the context menu: Right-click an empty area of the page or use the platform’s keyboard shortcut.
- You only got the visible screen: Choose Save full page rather than Save visible.
- The screenshot is not where you expected: Download saves the PNG to Firefox’s default download folder. Use Copy if you need to paste it into another application.
- The crosshair will not move: Mozilla notes this limitation on Wayland. Try keyboard selection or the Developer Tools capture options.
Firefox screenshot references
Mozilla’s keyboard-shortcut page also lists the screenshot shortcut: Firefox keyboard shortcuts. Available instructions here establish the desktop workflow; they do not establish current Firefox-specific steps for Android or iOS.
