To capture an entire scrolling page in Firefox, open FireShot from its toolbar button, the Firefox menu, or the page context menu, choose Capture entire Page (not the visible-area option), then save or export the result. How to capture a full webpage with FireShot

- Let FireShot render the page. The extension scrolls through the document and assembles the result. Pages that load images or other components only after scrolling may need extra time or a second attempt.
- Choose an action. The documented toolbar default is Capture entire webpage and Edit. From the resulting editor or action menu you can save the image or PDF, copy it to the clipboard, print it, email it, or use an available export command.
- Open the saved file. Check the top, middle, and bottom of a long capture. Look for missing lazy-loaded images, duplicated sections, blank areas, or an awkward break where a fixed header or animation was present.

Saving, editing, and choosing a format

If the FireShot button is missing
- Check Firefox’s extension controls and menus for FireShot. The vendor documentation identifies the toolbar, main menu, and page context menu as entry points.
- If FireShot is installed but hidden, expose its toolbar control through Firefox’s customization interface, then retry the capture from the page.
- Confirm that you are on an ordinary web page. Browser-internal screens, extension pages, and some protected documents can restrict extensions; the available evidence does not establish identical behavior on every such page.

- Right-click an empty part of the page and choose Take Screenshot. You can also press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS.
- In the screenshot interface, select Save full page.
- Download the image or copy it to the clipboard. The same interface can capture a selected region or only the visible portion.
Developer Tools route
For a technical, repeatable alternative, enable the screenshot icon in Firefox Developer Tools’ toolbox settings. Firefox’s Web Console also provides the :screenshot --fullpage helper, which saves a full-page capture beyond the window bounds. This route is useful when you already work in DevTools, while FireShot is more convenient for a toolbar-based workflow.

Choose FireShot when its editor and export workflow matter or when you want a dedicated capture control. Choose the built-in tool for a quick image without adding an extension. Neither choice guarantees a perfect rendering of every dynamic or embedded page.

The Firefox Add-ons listing accessed on 29 September 2026 reports FireShot version 1.12.18, last updated 5 June 2023. The same listing says FireShot v2 features were being rolled out through the Add-ons ecosystem and points to a vendor-hosted download. Because that metadata is old relative to the rollout note, use the official Firefox Add-ons installation path for Firefox and check the version shown on the page you actually install; do not assume that a separate vendor download and the AMO package are identical.

Mozilla’s separate documentation for Firefox Screenshots discusses interaction data such as use of Save full page, but that statement applies to Firefox’s built-in tool, not FireShot.
Troubleshooting full-page captures
Only the visible viewport was saved
Restart the command and explicitly choose Capture entire Page. The visible-area command is a different mode and will not scroll through the document.

The bottom of the page is blank or incomplete
Some sites load images, comments, or cards only when they approach the viewport. Allow the page to finish loading, scroll through it once manually, then run the entire-page capture again. If the page uses a nested element with its own scrollbar, FireShot may treat the outer document and the inner panel differently; the available material does not establish one universal fix, so try capturing the panel with scrolling selection or use the site’s print/export view.
Headers, sticky bars, or animations appear repeatedly
Fixed navigation and animated components can be composited at each scroll position. Close overlays, pause media where the site allows it, and retry. Inspect the saved file rather than assuming that a successful download means every layer rendered correctly.

Check which FireShot package and plan you installed. The current Firefox listing advertises PDF, PNG, and JPEG, while some editor, text, and export capabilities are associated with an upgrade. Firefox asks for permissions again
Read the prompt and grant only the permissions you accept. If website access is denied, FireShot cannot capture pages that it cannot read. Re-enable the extension in Firefox’s extension manager and retry on a normal webpage.
The result is missing content from an embedded frame
Frames can have separate loading, scrolling, or access behavior. Capture the frame’s own URL when it is available, use a scrolling selection focused on the frame, or use the page’s print/export function. Treat this as a page-specific limitation rather than a confirmed universal FireShot defect.
Practical reliability checks
- Capture after fonts, images, and client-rendered sections have finished loading.
- Compare the saved file’s dimensions with the approximate page length; an unexpectedly short image usually indicates the wrong mode or an early capture.
- For legal, archival, or pixel-comparison work, retain the original URL and capture date with the file.
- For very long pages, prefer PDF when readers need pagination, or PNG when a single continuous canvas is more useful.
- Do not treat the Add-ons listing’s star rating, user count, or update date as a compatibility test for your particular site.
